Re: How sure was EFSF that assault carriers would replace ship-of-the-line?

But as Clausewitz told us, war is the extension of politics, and in turn the politics of making war involve a lot of competing ideas and goals, many of which are political themselves. (The UC is honest in its pseudo-history, which continues to delight me year after year.) To my mind, the Salamis II...

Re: Is the Trafalgar-class still canon?

Everything I put into my fics and RPG campaigns is official to me. Viva la headcanon! :) I do think the Trafalgar- class is a valid concept, albeit one which seems to have gotten overlooked in the anime story & design department. This is not a criticism of the anime teams, who after 40 years must ha...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Mecha Thread Mk I

Today's plot armor question from the 15 minute preview of the latest episode: Exactly how does Revil's ship survive blasts from the Musai that close when a Magellan can blow a Musai out of the sky from kilometers away? I have a feeling that the "beam blasts are weaker when they're fired that close"...

Re: How sure was EFSF that assault carriers would replace ship-of-the-line?

Short answer? Given that in Zeta Gundam anime there are Salamis Kai class, Magellan Kai class, the excellent Alexandria class, and the mammoth Dogos Gia , I'd say they were converts. The ZMF had shown the EFSF the way, and they adapted. Winners do that, and Wyatt Green can burn in the nuclear bonfir...

Re: SSSS.Gridman

Heh, this anime is very old school in several things. I do like the idea of becoming the mecha rather than just piloting it. Go all the way! :) It is a sentai robo show, which means it ought to do well. It didn't get to my weekly viewing roster though; please keep the updates coming so I can watch i...

Re: The Official Gundam Narrative Anime Thread Mk I

The booklet was done well, but it is a definitely some hype maker and a nice souvenier for the fans. There will definitely be some returning faces, to go along with the new cast. I have some expectations for Zoltan Akkanen, although his name makes me want to say "Don't mess with the Zoltan!" :D The ...

Thanks again for sharing! I am somewhat late in replying, but this was a good final summation, good enough for me to offer some congratulations and support for your group's efforts. I suppose the half-a-loaf victory is a little bittersweet, but that is truthful enough. A lot of anime (including some...

Re: Fafner THE BEYOND - New preview

I am looking forward to this new story very much. Fafner stories are always absorbing and engaging, with an energy and desperation which few anime are really unwilling to invest in any more. So yeah, bring it on!

Re: Darling in the FranXX

I agree with Quiddity, a strong Gurren Lagann vibe developed in the second half of the story. I enjoyed the series very much, as it departed from the many of the standard mecha anime settings and trope lists, and set out to tell a story of a society that almost engineered itself into extinction in t...

Re: Jushinki Pandora: Last Hope

Somehow I am not surprised that the SRW team was quick to stick a new Kawamori mecha into their newest game. They are definitely aware, awake, and ready to set those hooks. Now if I could only get a USA-friendly version over here....

Re: Gundam license plates

In Costa Rica plate numbers are three non vowel letters and three digits, do the most you could do is msz006. All of cars already had plates, so on my first one - a Toyota Tercel- I put a Zeon sticker. On my second -and current Toyota Yaris- I put a New Zeon emblem I like how this man rides. 8)

Re: Full Metal Panic: Invisible Victory

I really liked the car chase, which had the narrative elements, Sousuke's defensive driving skills, and freedom from shaky-cam laziness to show current cinema how it's supposed to be done. Another layer of production gloss might have helped with the look, but it was not a deal-breaker. Admittedly th...

and that one character is a dead ringer for Cowbo Bebop's Jet Black. right down to having the same seiyuu. Kane Ibrahim Hasan (there's a name) does have a Jet look to him. Not only physical but in his worldly wise POV of a man who has seen too many battles but is still going. For that matter, I app...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Mecha Thread Mk I

I would appreciate seeing a Galbaldy Beta, which was a good MS that really didn't get a lot of face time. It is simple enough to customize well, and the interceptor mode would give it good base stats. Plus maybe this means a HG model for the greater glory of my monoeye shelf. :)

Seing that Jiyan Altron consists of parts that resemble a wolf, tiger, and dragon, I think I have an idea of what its possible upgrade could be. So far I believe that if it ever gets an upgrade that consists of extra parts that resemble a hawk or a similar bird of prey, we will be getting a nice Br...

Re: The Official Gundam Narrative Mecha Thread Mk I

I don't actually care about the presence of the Core Fighter per se. What bothers me is this: I know it's supposed to be a testbed and all, but what nitwit thought it was a good idea to build it with no armor whatsoever on its upper limbs and no armored cockpit hatch ? I mean you could put some tur...
