Some mecha novels I wrote in an ongoing series...

Hey all, Here are some mecha novels I wrote. They were recently added to Kindle Unlimited, so if you're a subscriber, they're free for the next three months at least. They were plotted out many, many years ago to be a Gundam Wing -meets- Robotech/Macross sort of experience, but by modern standards, ...

Re: Just me, or does Gundam 00 still feel the most modern?

Because we are now living in the post-modern era so modern is old. Jokes aside, this is likely because of what the series is set to bring you the feeling of the world. IBO is more of the rusted future older SF stories are telling, so you get that kind of older, retro feeling. UC timeline itself has...

Just me, or does Gundam 00 still feel the most modern?

I have to blink when I see that Gundam 00 was all the way back in 2007. Regardless of the Season 1 and Season 2 divide, and whether or not parts of it could have been handled better, it strikes me that no Gundam series since has felt as modern as Gundam 00, either in aesthetic or concept. Gundam IBO...

Re: G Gundam or Gundam Wing?

For me, they're two different shows that can be enjoyed in their own right. As whole productions, I do think they rival one another to some extent, and I often put them in my top-three Gundam series. Watching them one right after the other can be disorienting, though. They're best watched with some ...

Re: Which era of Gundam is your favorite?

There is a lot of good Gundam...but I would say my favorite era overall is the decade of 1989-1999 . It starts with Gundam 0080 . Tight, emotional storytelling with amazing visuals. Its opening sequence with Cyclops Team might be the most iconic in all of Gundam to me. Next is Gundam F-91 ...which i...

Re: Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross

And this does present an interesting question. Why did Harmony Gold choose to adapt Southern Cross when there were so many other mecha anime out there at the time. Even Orguss, which was better received and came out before Southern Cross, was passed up. I think the amount of transforming vehicular ...

Re: Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross

I've never seen all of the original version of Southern Cross, but something I liked about this series structurally, regardless of whether it was a part of Robotech or not, was the squad dynamics and the use of different divisions working together (or in rivalry) with one another. It has shades of 0...

Re: Gundam Wing GOL/FT/MG new stuff THREAD

I got the Glory of the Losers official English volume 1 release recently. (While there are some interesting new tidbits, a lot of the flashback stuff so far was covered better in the Episode Zero manga, and the pacing is really too rushed to be a full retelling. I excepted more.) I haven't followed ...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

One last thing about the jumps in Origin IV. I thought it was strange how Char went from a scapegoat-exile to suddenly being allowed to return to space with Lalah without any sort of trouble. (Seemingly on his own authority, too.) I would have thought he couldn't return to space until he was summone...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

...Overall, I don't think painting his suit is too terrible a concession, though his uniform is another matter entirely. The explanation that suits me best is that he's been slated to act as a moral booster and MS division poster-boy. Then again, I know there's some blonde woman in Zeon who acts as...

Re: Gundam Wing HD - Opening Changed? Why?

Actually, that's how Wing's openings always were. For most of the run, both sequences used footage taken from the show and only switched to the higher quality animation before the theme song changeover (for JC) or before the end of the show (for RE). Oh, I see. So then the original Bandai Entertain...

Gundam Wing HD - Opening Changed? Why?

Hey, Gundam.info is showing a few episodes of the remastered Gundam Wing release (albeit I've read that it wasn't optimized right for Youtube, according to people in the comments). Regardless, I took a look at it, and I was surprised to see that the intro has cut out a few seconds of animation--the ...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

It's been a while...but I've now seen PART IV and have watched the 11-minute preview of PART V. This show has shifted beyond the scope of just being a Char origin story. (Not surprising given its source material, but I somehow thought the transition might be more graceful.) PART IV reminded me a lit...

After War Gundam X Updates...and Maybe Answers

As Sunrise's Hideyuki Tomioka kind of let slip during the Nozomi/RightStuf panel at Otakon, Gundam X is finally coming to Blu-ray, and it will be remastered with tons of extras. Release date is March 23, 2018 in Japan. As such, the creators are talking, both on these discs and on Twitter. Character ...

Re: Gundam Seed/Destiny Remaster Gets (re)Dub

Errr... No, I meant the current English Dubs being posted on the GundamInfo YouTube Channel. They suck...a lot!?! Yeah, and I was just saying that it'd be one of the three studios I noted, not the people doing the Gundam Build Fighters/Try stuff. If I'm not mistaken, those were dubs done overseas f...

Re: Gundam Seed/Destiny Remaster Gets (re)Dub

I just hope they don't use the same people that are currently doing the Build Fighters/Try English Dub. Gah. I assume you're talking about potential future Gundam Kickstarter dub projects versus the solely Sunrise-commissioned SEED/Destiny Remastered, and in that case, there are probably only three...

Re: Gundam Seed/Destiny Remaster Gets (re)Dub

Kind of wish they dubbed some of the rightstuff releases...I also wonder if this means some of the older Gundam dubs could get a new one? Personally I would love a Zeta redub since those voices always fell flat for me...but G-Gundam and Wing are pretty iconic. On the other hand, I would have said t...

Interesting...Since you only saw some episodes, it could be that your description is skewed, so I'm going to go out on a limb and see if I can guess it with a few things that sound in the ballpark. I'm mainly going off of the parallel worlds and buried past ideas here, so... If it was indeed SyFy/Sc...
