Re: Upcoming Models, Merch & Rumors IX

I'm quite surprised people aren't more hyped about that new Zaku II F2. It has quite possibly the best proportions I've ever seen on a Zaku kit. Yes, even better than MG Ver.2 imo. I haven't bought a Zaku in a while because of the relative stagnation in the design, but this new sculpting is just ama...

If you are speaking of the HGUC kits, go to www.dalong.net, click on HGUC and select the kits in question. He usually does comparison photos on related mecha.

Hope that helps

I don't know that this has been mentioned yet, but a HGUC Barzam has just been announced.

Date/price currently unknown.

Ah, that explains it. I was not at all thinking about the VF-11, just the YF-19. Thanks for the clarification.

In any case, Ozma's attack on the Vajra was still an extremely cool sequence.

@MrMarch, You refer to Isamu using a bayonet in Plus. I don't recall this instance. I checked the mahq entries on the YF-19 and I see no bayonets listed under armament. At what part in the series/movie was this shown? Plus is one of my all-time favorites and I thought I had that thing committed to m...

I don't know why no one seems to have mentioned that Ozma SHANKED THE BLOODY VAJRA in the SKULL! My apologies. I am pretty sure that this may mark the first instance of a melee weapon used by a variable fighter. I have seen every Macross series except Zero, so if there is a melee wep in there, pleas...

That is pretty unusual for them. I've only had one problem with them, and it wasnt major, they just took a bit long to process an order. Usually they give good customer service. When I order something really new though, I usually get it from Rainbow Ten. Super fast email replies, great service, and ...

A strange personal quirk.

When I think about it, I have a strange quirk in regards to modeling. I am primarily a gunpla modeler, yet I almost never build the Gundam itself. I think the only Gundam I have built was the HG 1/100 Wing Zero Custom, back when that first came out. It's kind of strange, I tend to gravitate towards ...

As far as panel lining, markers are not the only option, although they are good ones. Fine or medium point is ok, you can erase mistakes with a q-tip and a little alcohol. Alternate methods for panel lining are washes and capillary lining. I suggest checking out the tutorials on these sites: www.fic...

Ngee Khiong has that up as well, and he tends to have good sources. I'd say it's legit. Bandai seems to have no rhyme or reason when it picks kit projects so I'd say that's about as legit a choice as any. In other news my Hobby Japan kit seems to be pointing out a 1/60 Destroid Tomahawk from Macross...

I'm not sure why the shield ended up on the right shoulder, though. This seems kind of awkward, and I don't know if I've ever seen an explanation in the Japanese publications. Since the weapons of a right-handed Zaku would point to the left when held in both hands, the shield isn't going to be much...

HGUC Sazabi, check

Now, Gundam gods... grant me a Geara Doga! I know we have the Zaku FZ coming to tide us over, but we need a Geara Doga....

Yeah, the blue katakana on the right says "effect parts". I'm sure he wasn't trying to be rude, the phrasing could have been better but I'm sure it was not anyone's intention to cause offense.

EDIT: Holy Cow, I'm now a Cardboard Leo Ace! Feels like I'm coming up in the world. =)

I am soo over this mindset of "Let's throw some metal onto this!" Metal thrusters that all look alike, extraneous metal tubes, screws and rivets. What is this, the USSR? Has no one realized that exposed riveting is a dead technique? While we are at it, hey, let's decal a PARAGRAPH of text ...

Something the size of a MS would likely be impossible to control in the mobile trace method. For a MUCH more realistic and thought-out treatment of this, check out the Landmates from Masamune Shirow's Appleseed. I'm in agreement with Shirow as to the ideal size of a humanoid mecha being not too much...

Why are Zaku Shields...

... mounted on the same arm they use to carry their gun? One would think that from an efficiency standpoint that mounting the shield on the left shoulder while aiming the gun with the right arm would be better. One could aim/fire with the right arm while keeping the left side with the shield turned ...
