RIP Osamu Dezaki (1947-2011)
I just learned that Osamu Dezaki passed away recently. We have him to thank for such gems as Space Adventure Cobra (movie and TV series), Ashita no Joe and the Golgo 13 movies. I can just think of him in one of his trademark "postcard memories" slowly fading to black. RIP http://www.animen...

Bandai is now selling official gundam-themed display cases. They come in both federation and zeon colour schemes.

It seems that the creative staff in Bandai's gunpla division have hit rock bottom.

I just finished Ergheiz. I guess I just got suckered in due to the OP being subg by Yoshiki Fukuyama. It was pretty mediocre to boring which was a shame since the mecha designs weren't half bad.

I got How the States Got Their Shapes for christmas and I'm slowly working through it. It's a great reference book, not something meant to be read cover to cover.

Re: Ep. 068 - Christmas Bebop!
Another great episode guys. Cowboy Bebop is a pretty low hanging fruit for a review, but that segment sent me on quite the nostalgia trip. I'm going to have to dig up my Bebop dvds in the near future. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new gunpla podcast. My interest in that has waned over the ...

Re: Dedicated to all future Gundam fansite pioneers...
I never joined any online community until I came to Mecha Talk, but I do remember spending hours at Newtype Asylum, Gundam Project and Crazy Probe's model reviews. I remember reading tons of articles and model reviews, especially in NA's Fantoysia section. Their demise only makes me appreciate Mecha...

The difference between China and Japan can pretty much be summarized by comparing those two pictures.

Re: Star Driver
Star Driver really is a sign of the times. As long as mecha anime in Japan keeps having a greater female fanbase, shows like this will persist.
It may not be my idea of a solid mecha show, but it's better than no mecha at all.

Re: Real Steel
It looks like they've just scaled down the Bay's Transformers. There's no indication of plot in the trailer, but I'm hoping for the heart-warming story of a down-and-out robot who, through hard work and determination, rises to victory. I wonder if the training montage will just be him sitting in a r...

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted Articles
There's an interesting nugget in ANN's interview with Gainax's Hiroyuki Yamaga ANN: You mentioned at the Gainax history panel that you went to Bandai and offered to do a Gundam OVA, which they turned down, before they gave you money for Honneamise. What would that OVA have been about? Yamaga: They b...

Re: Gunpla Senshi Gunpla Builders Beginning G
In a way, this will be the most honest Gundam show ever made.
The only comparable show to this (a sort of "meta" show about the fans of a previously existing show) would be Sentou Yousei Tasukete Mave-chan. Of course, that's a pretty low bar to have to jump over.

I just finished the snooze-fest that was Gin-iro no Olynssis. I guess I'm a sucker for a catchy OP.
Now I've started on the Dirty Pair TV series. I can see why this is so well loved.

Good episode guys You compare Robotech to Dragonball Z as being something that helped bring in a lot of today's fan. But let me raise my hand and say that when DBZ was airing here I hated it intensely. Now keep in mind that I was twelve at the time, the perfect age for that show. I thought it was ju...

Mad Bull 34 and Angel Cop will both satisfy in terms of violence.
I also want to second Violence Jack and Devilman. That Go Nagai was one crazy cat.

Re: Ep. 048 - Gundamn Boy Modeling School
Loved this episode. It reconnected me with that great feeling of satisfaction you get after finishing a tough model. Although, I never really invested the time and money into getting a real setup and developing my skills. Hopefully when I get a place of my own, I'll be able to devote a corner to gun...
