Re: New Code Geass sequel announced, recaps for 2017
"Lelouch of the Resurrection"? Does that mean he's going to come back wearing a golden Zero costume and have a well-animated but unsatisfying fight with a blue-haired Suzaku? :P I'm wary of this idea at the moment, but part of me is glad to see all the idiots who whined about how "pretty" the end o...

Re: Naruto is being aimed for
Begrudging episodes from a half dozen years ago is a bit much, don't you think? You don't have to watch them if you don't like and Shippuuden has done a great job of adapting more then one chapter an episode to create compact storytelling for the episodes that do adapt the comic chapters. The cartoo...

For all your Dragon Ball needs.Darkerangel wrote: Dragon Ball Z I watched way back in the golden age of Toonami. Being the hipster I was back then, I knew of DBGT before hand too. My dad is OCD with that anime. To the point I've seen it so many times now, it's ridiculous.

Re: Dragon Ball (And Shonen in general)
I've never been a big fan of the driving episode, episode #125. Other then Hisada Kazuya's cool key animation for the cuts of Vegeta training there's not much to the episode. Dragon Ball has done much better humor without ever relying much on self-parody. The gags in the Garlic Junior arc are much f...

Re: Dragon Ball (And Shonen in general)
So no replies on my points for comparing Z to Kai in terms of the dub at least Jacob? I know at least I'm not alone in my opinion. Sorry, I don't really see the point. The dubs have nothing to do with those shows so I don't see the point in having an opinion on them. I'm not going to watch them, I ...

Re: Dragon Ball (And Shonen in general)
Well, since it's on the brain now I guess I'll add... Artificial Human No. 18 is voiced by Itou Miki, who also played Mineva Lao Zabi in Zeta Gundam and Gundam ZZ . Miki's performance as No. 18 is one of my favorites among the Artificial Humans, although they're all great. She is wonderful in playin...

Oh no, moe Mazinger Z Opening!
I've seen the previews. I love Honda's performance. It looks like Tomita Yoshikazu was a key animator on the first episode, too. Damn, it's not too long before we see Shida Naotoshi on this series too, I bet.

Re: Dragon Ball (And Shonen in general)
I see. I suppose I may try this sometime. Sad as it is I don't have time. Thanks for the info anyway. It is nice to know that there is quality. I do recall enjoying Dragonball's earlier stuff prior to the Cell arc. It just felt like mindless repetition after Freeza. I would say the series is strong...

Re: Dragon Ball (And Shonen in general)
I really wish I could enjoy reading Dragonball, but for some reason I couldn't make myself, too many good memories with the anime adaption I guess. Speaking of, how true to it is the anime Dragonball? I know Z was filled up like crazy, but what about the earlier years? The 1986 TV series adapts com...

Re: Sword Art Online
Well, tickle me funny. Placing aside my contempt for the Suguha character this was perhaps the best recap special I have ever seen. The clips are well framed into an actual story narrative creating the illusion of an actual episode. I quite like this technique because it allowed for some less develo...

And we still don't know, sadly. I am guessing at this point that because of Ymir's dialogue, there will be a mass Titan outbreak from within the walls. that could get nasty, maybe then we'll get some more of that Monkey...<_< Yeah, I've read up to date with the monthly publication. Re: Attack on Titan Manga Thread
I just finished volume #10. Holy crap, volume #9 blew my mind and this wasn't too far behind. I was surprised by the identity of the Colossus Titan, but the Armored Titan's identity made some sense. As I was initially reading the final chapter I hadn't paid attention to Eren's face, but in re-readin...

Re: Dragon Ball (And Shonen in general)
My suggestion is to start with Dragon Ball in Japanese. It's hilarious and the cast is made up a lot of Gundam voice actors like Furuya, Suzuoki, Furukawa, etc. Bleach is also good, the successor of Dragon Ball in a lot of ways. There's a lot of fun characters and the storyline has a number of good ...

Mihara Michio Tweeted on November 8 that the first six episodes were in the can . BahiJD also tweeted a few weeks ago that a number of his cuts went straight into film without clean-up. Bahi also did cuts that required no in-betweens because of all of the key animation he provided. Bahi animated us...

Re: Gundam: The Origin Preorders
Shimoku Kio fanboys over Gundam and Yas for a little while in a pretty informal, Otaku-esque manner. Otherwise there isn't much else to say. I wish we were getting more thoughts from production staff who worked on the original TV series or films in these extras. Knowing what some of the animators or...

Re: Gundam: The Origin Preorders
Damn, I wasn't expecting such a behemoth. I am very happy with the thickness of this installment. The inclusion of Section Extra was also nice. I don't think the 1979 cartoon series told this story, but learning how Kycillia brought Char into her service was a nice treat. The focus on establishing a...

Re: Sword Art Online
The wedding arc was probably the best the series ever got, so if new episodes simply focused on more of that sort of thing I'd be very pleased. I'm about twenty episodes in right now and this Suguha stuff is just killing me--and not in a good way.

Oh yeah, I completely expect this arc won't actually end for another ten years if Kubo gets his way, which he likely will.
