Re: Giant swords, are they feasible?
you do not have to swing it, you could extend the sword out and fly towards the target, like most of the beam saber cuts done by kamille in his gundam mkII, or the GINN on the mobius in the opening song

given that he has mentioned that he could just "download" himself into one of these copies, I don't see why not

Re: Aegis for underwater use?
In addition, the aegis' weapons are all beam based, making them useless underwater, other than the big claw in MA mode. If solid projectiles and weapons were given to the aegis instead (or replace the scylla with a phonon maser), the aegis might then prove to be a rather good amphibious MS. as for t...

Re: Why is it called a beam rifle?
in any case, it is interesting to point out that the rx-78-2's beam rifle has been shown to have rifling in various media, such as the intro movie in sd g generation neo, for instance.

Re: I field generators
having absolutely no idea on how it actually works , I have a pet theory that the I-field actually repels the particles, which mean that any outgoing beam perpendicular to the field should be unaffected, or even sped up, hence reasoning why you can fire out of an I-field but not into it. if you fir...

Re: Why do Headshots Work on Mobile Suits?
another thing to touch on was mentioned earlier in the thread how after losing their head mobile suits tend to fall backwards some how disabled. was it never considered this was from the force of the attack/explosion knocking it over while the system was still trying to figure out why happened to a...

Re: About Char's Zaku II
can this reasoning also be used to explain his little stunt with the Sazabi, where he is often shown firing the thrusters at full blast while still being connected by the power cord before it is released?
anyway, back to the zaku, it's basically 30% more acceleration, leading to 3x more speed.

Re: Are Gundam Supplementary Materials a Good Thing?
some plots are too lengthy to be included in the actual series itself, eg. more of the backstories of the 00 characters, like the incident about the flag testing that you've mentioned. had this been included in the actual anime, it would most likely be some 5min flashback quickly explained away and ...

Re: The Pegasus Class: Decoy Ships during the One Year War?
This would, I assume, have sprung out of how the Pegasus II in the novels was entrusted to the same crew as the first Pegasus? Same concept and whatnot? Exactly - it's a straightforward homage to Tomino's novels. In the anime continuity, this wouldn't happen until after the war was over, but presum...

if it helps, the recent PS3 gundam game has the single-bladed and dual-bladed beam naginatas as totally different weapons altogether.

Re: Gelgoog's "Beam" Naginata
If you use the Gelgoog or Dijeh in Gundam v. Zeta Gundam, IIRC it alternates between using the saber as single-bladed or double-bladed. (Yeah, I know - games. Still thought I'd mention it anyway) also in that game, beams can be used underwater, and you can stick a beam saber through another MS by s...

Re: Freedom and Justice; Brothers or Not?
So, going by the concept of the different MS being outfitted for different roles, how does the Providence come into a picture? It cannot dock with the METEOR, does not share the same features, but is developed together with the other two MS (IIRC)

Re: Gelgoog's "Beam" Naginata
Not quite, he simply only activated one end of then naginata. A quick view of the scene in question actually shows an animation error, where he approaches the GM with one end ignited, then slashes it with both ends ignited, then as he retreats, is shown to have only one end ignited. Either that, or...

 http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h102/pepsikopi/1995_MilitaryPlaysets.jpg this real-life example shown here best depicts the probable use of such aircrafts: as a mobile military base, like the Hresvelgr used in Ace Combat Zero. Of course, there's the whole argument over the costs, usefulness,...

Re: What was the Zeong made of?
T_T I was about to post the same thread.... the HGUC kit manual similiarly lists its material as "unknown", but assuming its made out of the same stuff as MAs, it's probably some kind of titanium/ceramic composite (the same material used by the Neue Ziel, Zaku IIs and etc) btw, was that th...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XV
People have a tendency to aim for the largest part of the body, namely the chest. So removing the head would probably not make much of a difference in the long run. not if you are an infantry. Bear in mind that insurgent forces, terrorism, etc are still extremely rampant during these times, and als...
