That pretty much sums up a lot of the points.

Re: What are some great mecha shows yall would suggest
i heavily disagree with recommending gurren lagann to anyone, over the top does not equal epic epic is more like Shin Mazinger, beautfully crafted and topping itself with good plot twists gurren lagann is all "hey let's keep making the robots bigger and then eventually kill everyone off" ...

Re: What are some great mecha shows yall would suggest
Shin Mazinger- Beautiful way to remake Mazinger Z. A must watch. God Mars- Watched only the first few eps, but for the most part, seems like a worthwhile show. Mazinkaiser- Awesomeness and Hotblood shoot through the roof with this one. Good stuff. Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo- Short, but noth...

Re: Mazinger Z Remake
Umm, guys, you do know that Bandai Channel streams episodes online which have extra material, right? If not, these episodes I'm describing are a complete 23-24 minutes and the extra material added helps make more sense of something portrayed in the show. The only subbers releasing them are Gattai (T...

Ever since Gurren Lagann, my fandom has started swaying to Super Robots. Let's just face it, I get way more utils out of Super Robots than I do out of Reals cause of all the sheer awesomeness. That said, it's great that we get some aspects of Z Mazinger in. Hopefully, Koji's new seiyuu will be just ...

Makes me wonder is they're even considering a sequel. I mean, for all intents and purposes, I don't see this could move forward at this point without having to either rehash a lot or not seem stale. But this show was made by Sunrise. Sponsored by Bandai. Bandai, the guys who don't care about quality...

I was speaking with regards to the U.S. market. If studios are paying Cartoon Network to show their wares, something is very, very broken there. I doubt that's the whole story though. If studios were paying for play, ratings wouldn't be that big of a deal since the air tme would be paid for and com...

Mazinkaiser. It's that Good ol' Super Robot Spirit and the awesome fight scenes and story that give this a slot in my tops. Romance, though, is at the same level as Shin Jeeg. Here's to seconding Godannar. The story actually did catch my eye, but apart from that, one of the more appealing facts were...

But given the failure of all-anime networks, AS's rating talk and it reducing the amount of anime being shown, pushing their in-house cheap crap, and Scifi only showing a couple hours a week, that is clearly not the case. Mind explaining the bold for me? Cause' I can only seemingly understand for h...

Yes. I recall reading somewhere that Gundam in particular makes about seven times as much revenue on merchandise (primarily model kits) than on TV airings and DVD sales. That's revenue ; the profit margin for merchandise is also much higher, to the point where profits come almost entirely from merc...

So basically, local asian companies are making money out of anime, but the Japanese aren't? (I thought that the cases of anime in the west was much different from the ones in the east in some aspect. Apparently, its only popularity at this point, unless the asians are buying their own licenses rathe...

You saying that the American companies are the one doing stuff here in Asia? Last I heard, we've also got our own branch of things on the anime side. Moreover, from what I'm getting, the local entities working off of anime as a focus are currently making quite the hefty load of money, seeing as they...

Tell that to the producers of anime. They sure don't feel like they're a thriving industry. Most studios take out loans assuming to make back that money from Western licensing fees these days. I was talking about ASIA. I know the crappy situation of anime in the US, but in Asia, that's a VERY diffe...

Yet my comments are referring only to the main series and not some manga that came after the series was initially made. The fact is, if you add, let's say, magic powers or cybersuits instead of Knightmares you'll still have just about the same results in terms of portraying a plot. Because in the fi...

I never said Code Geass wasn't a mecha show either. When I look at Geass, I think of it more as a show with mechs rather than a mecha show. The Knightmare Frames are, for all intents and purposes, a plot element that could easily be edited out and not interfere with the main plot. On the condition ...

Yeah, you move it to 5am to make it fail, not because it already does... TV isn't safe for anime. If you look how badly it's dropped off the radar in Canada in the last few months as well, it's pretty safe the broadcast bubble has burst for older youth to adult Japanese animation in North America. ...
