Re: Gundam SEED movie: Hopes and expectations

Welp, I guess in a few weeks I'll find out whether this movie will fulfill any of the speculation I made in this thread almost two decades ago...

Re: What's Your Current Anime? Mk III

I need some good mecha. The last "mecha" show I watched (which wasn't really mecha) was Heroic Age back in 07/08. I've been way out of the loop lately, so I haven't seen anything more recent than that besides Code Geass, Gundam 00, Gundam Unicorn and Macross Frontier. I thought about picki...

Ocelot, what you listed are all the classic telltale signs of a bootleg DVD, but these days that isn't always the case. Many are just straight rips of R1 DVD and are dual language, with no Chinese subtitles. Also, Amazon has indeed sold bootlegs in the past. I don't doubt from your description that...

Where did you buy these at? Because even though they weren't advertised as bootlegs, it's always a possibility. If you picked them up at a convention or something, there's still that possibility. I got it off of Amazon. This is the set: http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51P0B8S6WKL._AA240_.jpg ...

Complete Operations comes in a spiffy artbox and contains 10 individual DVD cases. It runs between $80 and $120. The Anime Legends sets are two box sets, one with episodes 1-25 and the other with episodes 26-49. These both retail for $39.99. The two boxes contain 5 discs in a book-style plastic cast...

MPC has actually been my player of choice for years. I've also tried ZOOM Player, GOM Player and InterVideo WinDVD. All have the same problem, except GOM Player. The places where the video is garbled in other players, with GOM it's just completely black. These are not bootlegs by the way. These are ...

Gundam Wing DVDs

I recently bought a Gundam Wing DVD set and I've been having problems with it. The DVDs play fine in my DVD player, but when I try to play them on my PC the playback is accellerated and the video is garbled.

Anybody know why this would happen?

I hate to come into this discussion so late, but I just finished TTGL. I have to say I enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm usually not a big fan of animes injected with toxic levels of GENKI, but I'll make an exception here and there, and this one was worth it. I actually started Code Geass and stopped watch...

The effect of P2P filesharing on the anime industry.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find information on how the advent of broadband internet and filesharing programs have effected the anime industry? Are there any statistics or facts that show a decline in revenue for certain companies after a certain point? I'm writing a research paper on ...

Megazone 23 question *possible spoilers*

Hey guys. I just finished watching Megazone 23. Awesome show, but it left me with a few questions. I was always under the impression that Eiji was like a reincarnation of Shogo, but near the end I kinda felt that Wong Dai might've been Shogo. Anybody know for sure or is it one of those "Figure ...

Re: Anyone else feel like a UC series is on the way?

Since the 30 year anniversary is coming up, do you think there will possibly be a new universal century series and/or movie in the works? Especially with the success of the Zeta movies. Do you think it is too bold to think that Char and Amuro will be making an appearance soon? For the love of god a...

I understand the ratings weren't there, but would it have been too much to ask for an OVA ending? I think they could've capped off the series nicely with 3 more episodes.

1. Gundam SEED Destiny Yeah, that's right. I love Gundam SEED Destiny. It's my favorite Gundam series. Say what you want about it. Sure, it borrows most of its devices from SEED and other shows, but lack of originality can't condemn a series. The fact of the matter is, I had more fun watching GSD th...

Yeah. I'm on the fence about GAINAX. I loved Gunbuster, and yes, I know its some kind of mortal sin, but I also love Evangelion. Most of it anyway. However, Diebuster? I wasn't really impressed at all. And as far as FLCL.. well.. that was one of the worst animes I've ever seen. Amazing to look at an...

Yeah. I've seen 5 episodes so far, and the action is pretty good but the mecha designs are indeed pretty bland. I've never been a fan of the "human-faced" mecha that make facial expressions and such. Didn't really like it in Gao Gai Gar either, but the GGG itself, and especially Genesic, d...

Alright. After careful consideration, I've decided to go with Code Geass. I've sent away for the first 3 volumes. Zegapain seems cool and all, but the CG mechs are a major turn off. I still plan to watch it eventually though. In the mean time, I'm going to watch Godannar, since I've had it for awhil...

Code Geass is one of my favorite mecha shows of all time. It is REALLY good. It's completed up through episode 25 and is 'on break' for a while, but it's planned for another run of similar length, so getting caught up now is recommended. I'm definitely leaning toward Code Geass the most, but I'm to...

Alright. So I just finished watching Gun x sworD and Betterman and I need more mecha anime, and I'm not sure where to start. There's a bunch of new stuff out that I haven't seen and I really feel like I'm falling behind. Fellow board members, help! The one's I'm most interested based on mecha design...
