Re: New Macross TV series in 2018

I'm excited for another Macross show that tugs at my heartstrings again with love triangles and pop music and is actually good.

Re: Let's talk Five Star Stories

There aren't good summaries anywhere on the net, and I'm afraid I can't summarise them too precisely yet as I'm still on the second arc (Clotho, the Sleeping Witch). In short: Act 1: Destiny Three Fates -Part 1: Lachesis Volume: 1 Shows how Lachesis was presented for her Fatima inauguration on the p...

Re: Let's talk Five Star Stories

I've only ever seen the OVA and read the first volume, but I dig it. I really wish some Western publisher would put it back in print (and more affordably, this time). I think Vertical would be perfect for a release. The problem, however, is that Mamoru Nagano is, to put it lightly, a bit of a contr...

Let's talk Five Star Stories

So the last post I can find about FSS was in 2013 and with the Gears Online forums down, this is a good place for FSS fans and mecha fans to maybe have an ongoing FSS-related discussion? I'm not up to date on the latest happenings. I recently managed to get a hold of all 12 of the original run tanko...

Re: #ExVsTheGundamnation! - Gundam Extreme Vs. Full Boost Ni

Hey! So I've recently got a PS3 with ExVS:Full Boost! Excitement! However, the times for #exvsthegundamnation are... well, not very EU friendly, as it's 4am on a school night. Ouch! With that in mind, I want to gauge interest: Are there enough people interested in organising a UK/EU-friendly time fo...

(I don't know if you'll want to do this as it's long, graphic and has a lot of cursing, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Bonus points for attempting a Glasgow accent.) ---- "You know Jackie ZOINKS Chan about me. YOU KNOW ZOINKS ALL ABOUT ME! I am totally beyond the realms of your ZOINKS tousle-hair...

I just wanted to chime in to add to the gratitude. Mark's contributions were what drove me to join Mechatalk in the first place, as well as the discussion and thoughts others put in around it. So, I really appreciate this :)

ROBOT APOCALYPSE ALERT

First robot suicide as a Roomba hurls itself on a hot stove. In other words, if they can choose to end their lives, they can also choose to end ours.

Thanks everyone!

E08: Where in that would you suggest fitting in the TV show? The movie clearly goes at the very end, of course.

Tackling the Gundam 00 side stories

Alright, so after AGE is over, I want to re-watch 00, which I have only seen all the way through once, when it was airing. This time though, I want a fuller experience, and I'm really intrigued by the side stories, 00V, 00I and 00P (first question: are there any more than those three?). So I have a ...

Re: Avengers film 2012

I have no words. I'm not a massive fan of the Avengers, and I was very resistant to even the idea of Iron Man movies at first. But I'm sold. And I'm a bit of a Whedon fan, and the film had a lot of his signature moments, as well as good, quality writing. I am frankly amazed at the fact every charact...

Re: Ep. 101 - The Second Coming of Age

Great episode as usual guys! I've been too busy with real life so I haven't been able to comment, or submit for the 100th episode, but I thoroughly enjoyed your troll-- I MEAN your awesome review of Evangelion. Yeah. As for this episode, great take on the AGE episodes, and I love how you just refer ...

Voice actor Takeshi Aono passes away. His most well-known mecha-related roles were Colonel Campbell (Metal Gear series), Dr. Wily (Mega Man/Rockman), Admiral Murai (Legend of the Galactic Heroes), Shiro Sanada (Space Battleship Yamato, most productions) and Decepticon leader Deszaras (Transformers: ...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread Mk III

That's pretty much the only problem I have with the show. Because they're cramming 3 different generations into one series, they have to speed up the level of technological advancement to an absurd pace. You get to all the action quicker, but you lose the subtlety and buildup of the other shows. Ye...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Mecha Thread Mk I

The more I look at pictures of the AGE-2 the more I fall in love with it. That is one gorgeous design. I'm not too sold on the transformation, but I commend it for not being yet another Waverider (as it's been pointed out, it's more of a Flag). I felt the AGE-1 was really generic, so seeing Ebikawa ...

For the Barrel - What it was, and what it tried to do.

So, I'm making this thread for discussion of 'For the Barrel', a re-imagining of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. I'm a bit disappointed it never became anything past, apparently, a first published novel. I don't know who did the character designs, but they certainly remind me of Mamoru Nagano's mos...

Great episode, guys! Your review of the AGE episodes has been making me itch to check it out myself, though maybe I'll wait until the first generation is up, see how it goes. Re: Unicorn ep 4, I agree pretty much with most of your criticisms. Personally, I feel that the 'war and conflict are bad, bw...

Earth Federation Capital

SPOILER WARNING: Mild spoilers for Zeta Gundam, big spoilers for ZZ, Char's Counterattack and possibly Unicorn. Okay, so Unicorn has me all confused about the Earth Federation's capital. In 0079, I don't think there was a mention of which was the capital city of the Federation. All we know is that t...

Hey Chris, I totally get where you're coming from, and I didn't mean to imply you were perfect or a paragon or anything. We all make mistakes: it's what we do with them that matters. Thank you for taking what I said into consideration and thinking about it. Let me know if you're interested in other ...
