Well the majority opinion seems to be that the Chief position is too important to risk being sent out in a mobile-suit, so I'll drop it. An engineering officer is just as good, and now that I think of it, to be a 'Chief' officer, Darren would have to be a little older. Oh well, a man can dream.........

Well, it didn't happen in the RPG, but in Darren's backstory he graduated from the EFSF academy as a mobile-suit pilot. It wasn't until later he joined the AEUG. I envisioned the character as a tech-junky anyway, fiddling with something constantly, so it could be possible that when he joined the AEU...
