Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk VI
Novel>>>>>>garbage>>>>>OVAs since OVA 4 BD will keep the novel narrative and add the good OVA elements=definite version for me :) Yea I too think the OVA manage to make the ending worst. The same things that were not resolved in the novel remain unresolved. Characters became melodramatic. Plus it l...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
Beam dispersion works both way though, so it may have a more strategical value than pure defense weaponry. It certainly didn't work well for General Revil in the preview when all of their suits carry beam weapons. AA cover fire would have probably been a lot more effective in this situation against ...

I don't think they were even firing their AA guns. They were trying to shoot it down with their main guns thoughCalubin_175 wrote:I was surprised that the bazooka rounds didn't get intercepted by AA guns.

Re: You know Char's plan in CCA is actually kind of stupid.
I think Char had mentioned that he is going to be the one to purge the Earth. He is obviously trying to punish humanity as well. Basically he is just doing a grandiose version of suicide by cop.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
Really digging the sound of that ED, and I haven't really liked any of them previously. Getting Sawano to compose it was a good call. I think it's a rearrangement of 0001 in the soundtrack. And I agree this is the first time I actually think the ED song fits the overall atmosphere of the show, for ...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Mecha Thread Mk III
NITRO stands for Newtype Injection Trace Reformed Oldtype. From the manga it looks to be a quasi-psycommu that allows non-wired remote weapons to be controlled by non-newtypes, with some blue flame effect going on when activated. I assume they would have to explain somewhere why this turns out to b...

Re: Known MSV-R so far
The intro text mentions how G-1 and G-2 were caught on video working in tantum to destroy 2 teams of GMs. While their capability is unknown, the removal mace is suspected to be able to destroy half a GM in one hit and the mace rod is likely to be able to destroy a GM in one strike. 22 G-1s and 38 G-...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
Given that Frontal's plan is a fairly mundane bit of political and economic maneuvering, perhaps he doesn't actually want to open the Box, just use it as leverage against the Federation. That would basically make him no better than the Vist family, and gives Mineva - who at this point just wants to...

Re: Katoki and his influence?
People have to remember that Okawara mostly designed mostly for hand drawn animation while Katoki designs for 3D animation, model kits and novels. Even the cleaned up V /V2 Gundams havea lot less details and visually quite dissimilar to the Katoki style we are used to in the line arts. Okawara just ...

Re: GPO-2 Backup Weapons....
What I'm getting at is that the GP02 *should* have the capacity to carry two shots for the bazooka if they had to. Given the enormous destruction wrought by just one warhead, it doesn't seem really necessary, but it seems possible. If the other side of the backpack also stores another round plus on...

So in other words, an emo Jerid. That's my main beef with Riddhe as a character. Fukui made him an inferior counterpart of Banagher, despite also framing him as his equal counterpart. He is supposed to be the lion and being generally viewed as pathetic, immature and petty does not make him a good li...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
I think the biggest issue with Riddhe is that everybody's assuming that he becomes a jackass because he gets jilted by Mineva, and only because of that, but here's the thing - I don't think Ronan was entirely correct about his son having "fallen" for her. It's true: if Riddhe and Mineva w...

Re: UC's Earth born elite- Just how elite are they?
Since Gundam follows pretty closely on O'Neill concepts, like the Island Three colonies and lunar mass drivers, would it be too far of a stretch to assume that it also adopted this solar-based energy economy? Probably not, since fusion seems quite practical by then and its energy density is a lot g...

Re: Anime Fan Scene's Evolution & Your Thoughts
This kind of things seem to usually go in cycles paralleling and reacting to the general altitude of a culture. I personally see the recent trend of remaking classic anime titles to be a sign of things going full circle again. The 311 earthquake and the Fukushima meltdowns and the kind of issues tha...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk V
It's actually rainbow coloured even though it's depicted to be predominately green. It turned rainbow because it's resonating with the minds of more than one person. In that particular scene for the novel, both ships and everyone involved wanted the ships to connect, Banagher actually went into that...

Re: OYW Population Figures
In episode 4 of Gundam Unicorn, Banagher mentions "10 billion people living in space". Maybe that's what you're thinking of? Nope, it was definitely Riddhe in episode 5. It's at about the 28:55 mark, when Riddhe is arguing with Mineva on the Garuda; the line is "regardless of how twi...

Re: Gundam Unicorn Novel Ending
I actually think Banagher seeing time could be kinda cool to see in animation. What's worrying me is the contents of the box. Doesn't it grant newtypes privilege and easier access to government? That's just disturbing. It feels like racial politics, and almost like it'd turn oldtypes into a subclas...
