Re: Gundam mecha cosplay

Perhaps building a papercraft Gundam would be illuminating, so you can figure out, (in scale prototype form) what design challenges you might face before you start drawing nets out onto big buttloads of card. (I know Gundam paper models exist somewhere, but I know no links). And it goes without sayi...

Re: Modeling Tips/Techniques/Help links

Any tips for painting an old, unpainted model that has been sitting on display for 3 years, maybe more? The models I have lined up for this treatment aren't exactly filthy, but won't layers of dust and whatever create problems applying paint? Also, these are Master Grades, so considering I haven't d...

Re: Whatever happened to Ecole du Ciel?

New Tokyopop Volume 9 listing and coverart.

Getting quietly optimistic here, though the date is now the 13th of April.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk I

The other OVAs - 08th, 0080, etc...had OP and ED themes - 0083 even had two of each, though of course it ran close to double the length of the other two. Er, 08th and 0083 are roughly the same episode length. He's referring to the length of the series. 6 episodes versus 13. 0083 having twice as man...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk I

I wonder what they're trying to accomplish by being secretive about the media format. My worry is that, given it's pretty obvious that what people want to hear is that it'll be a full-blown TV show, it can only possibly be anything but that, and they're delaying the announcement to get people at th...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk I

Simultaneous World Release eh? I assume we're talking about the traditional view of the world that doesn't include Europe, because only dragons live there? Assuming that they decide on a format that gives them space for cameos anyway (and is anyone else fearful of a F91 style-fudging of the story in...

Just got the RAH DX Lacus Clyne Seed version from down the road for a very reasonable price... it's a lovely looking model, but I can't work out for the life of me how I'm supposed to remove the protective plastic under her top skirt... I assume the lower skirt can be removed somehow?

Do the anime legends boxsets of Zeta use the subtitles from the collection or the single volumes? I thought I heard somewhere that they messed up and reverted back to the collection's dubtitles...

Ecole is certainly not the only Tokyopop title on the chopping block, and the fact that it was pushed back twice (summer to winter 2008) is actually somewhat encouraging since they had some vague intention to keep up with it. Tokyopop is quite unhealthy at the moment, the lack of an official announc...

Technically, being set hundreds (or possibly thousands) of years ahead of us, the English language could have actually just changed in those small ways. Most likely as a consequence of its globalisation (as we assume that everyone speaks English in Gundam... even though they speak Japanese). English...

There is no reason to expect a missing episode to be added on a second time, the reasons it's gone still exists. No reason at at all? Not even whacking a big sticker across the front saying 'includes the lost episode 'Kukurus Doan's Island'!'. I think it's a little hard to categorically say that we...

Episode 15 will never come, Tomino decided against that so the chances of a re-release including it is zero. If there were a remastered re-release at all, there's no reason why Episode 15 wouldn't be rolled out. Tomino didn't stop it getting onto the Japanese releases. But yeah, in general none of ...

From what I know Zeta's biggest flaw other than the usual drawbacks to transforming MS is that the lower leg armor restricts the horizontal foot movement so getting good standing poses will be hard. I'll say. What damage I didn't do by ripping the arm off came from it toppling in the few standing p...

Considering the obsolescence of the 0 Gundam, I'm wondering whether it'll have some kind of largely non-combat role in the last few episodes. Like it's taken as proof of identity by Ribbon's Death Fortress or veda or something. But then, the GN Archer holds its own, so it wouldn't surprise me if the...

The MG Hi-Zack never goes loose, no matter how much you repose it. I'd assume that's a general truth with the Zeon/Mono-Eye, which tend to be bulkier and have more room for larger joints. If your mother has ever told you that 'if you play with it, it's going to fall off', she was hopefully talking a...

Perhaps they're waiting to see how 00 fares (i.e. Revival of the Gundam market in the US) wondering whether it would be worth remastering their discs of the original show with the Japanese audio before putting a seal on the series by shoving it into a cut-price boxset. That's what my inner optimist ...

I found that watching the original series directly before Zeta had a sort of immunising effect. Everything you mention against Zeta rears its head in 0079, and it's usually quite a bit worse. I found myself forgiving Zeta's quirkiness simply because after moaning old folks picketing the white base, ...

And both are at times, completely incomprehensible. Though I'm pretty sure that Kojima has a definite edge. We'll forgive him for MGS2 one day. Maybe.
