Re: Big West and HG strike deal! Macross is free!
That reminds me, what kind of Japanese anime movies got screening in the US these days? Any Gundam, Ghibli and Makoto Shinkai features? I wonder what plan does the Japanese side currently have to push Macross in the US? Blu-rays releases? Soundtracks? Yes, all those types of things get screenings, ...

Re: Big West and HG strike deal! Macross is free!
Hello hello, yes, I haven't posted in a long time, but seeing this news reminded me of Chris and the Gundamn crew's long, long crusade against Harmony Gold. So now that dawn has finally cracked on this issue, I thought I'd come back and raise my cup in toast to this happy occasion! Welcome back! Ou...

04-21-21: Times like these
Wow, it has been a long time since the last update, right? Well, real world obligations have been a time sink so far this year, but that situation will be changing soon. But let's move on to another subject - you know what time it is. Another year has come and gone, and today MAHQ is 21-years-old. ...

Re: Gundam AGE/X timeline question?
Yet the official stance is definitely much more authoritative than any fan speculation. Anyone speculating they are not related is fine because it is not specified. Anyone speculating they are all connected in one linear line is completely ignoring the listed facts. Also, G-Reco did made efforts to...

Re: Gundam AGE/X timeline question?
An official stance that amounts to nothing given that no anime series post-Turn A has ever made any effort to connect anything to the Black History and likely never will.MythSearcher wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 1:17 amThe official stance is pretty clear, and I don't think they will bother to re-announce that every time they have a new show.

Re: Gundam Build Real
I wonder if this is also the Gundam Live Action Movie, first mentioned in the 40th Anniversary Trailer . Obviously if it is, then the plans further evolved into a series, instead of a single movie. There's no way that it could be. Gundam Build Real is very clearly something made on a Japanese TV bu...

Re: Forgotten mecha shows?
I think Rideback would count. I liked it a lot at the start but was ultimately quite disappointed by it. I think it would've worked better if it had a smaller focus as just a mecha sports story and the global military angle.

Re: Forgotten mecha shows?
I like Venus Wars the anime, but it's a majorly reimagined story from the original manga, which in my opinion was better. The manga is longer and has plenty of characters and arcs that weren't in the anime. It's long out of print, but it can be obtained through....methods. If you really dig the 80s ...

Re: The Official Gundam Hathaway Anime Thread Mk I
Also now that Hathway's Flash is getting a movie, do you think this means there will be an English translation of the Light Novel? Highly doubt that would ever happen. Mecha is a super niche interest in the English-speaking anime world, and Gundam books don't have a great track record. We only ever...

Re: Forgotten mecha shows?
Would Schwarzesmarken count? It's a Muv Luv spin off set during the 80s; basically think a cold war spy thriller, with alien invaders and giant robots. It's a pretty interesting story that does still have alot of harem elements. I'm not sure how popular Muv Luv is to being with (though apparently t...

Re: UC elitist fans...
Dozle ends up depicted as a tough-but-fair father-to-his-men type who loves his siblings even while he's VERY concerned about the morality of their decisionmaking. I wouldn't say Origin makes all the Zabis uniformly less villainous, especially Dozle. I'd agree with you about him up until Operation ...

Re: UC elitist fans...
First of all, Bounding into Comics is a garbage pro-ComicsGate site, so of course their comments section is going to be a cesspool. As to UC elitists, this is nothing new, not just for Gundam but also every long-running franchise. You can look at anything like Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel/DC, etc, w...

Re: Gundam Seed Blu Ray?
There was supposed to be a regular edition this year, but that plan was presumably delayed by having to reprint all the Ultra discs and send them out to everyone who bought that version. I'd imagine the regular edition will be out later this year.

Out of curiosity, I went and dug up the old Gundam Official website on the Internet Archive. The SEED glossary has some interesting info on PLANTs, but unfortunately nothing about population.

Although not a city per se, the Gundam Thunderbolt manga features Zeon remnants operating in UC 0080 out of a third Dolos class supercarrier that's submerged under water.

Re: Forgotten mecha shows?
Anyone here have watched the two mecha spin-offs of Tenchi Muyo: War in Geminar and Dual! Parallel Lun-Lun Monogatari? From what little I have watched of Tenchi Muyo, it feels pretty boring and generic to me. Should I spend my time for these two spin-offs? Also, here is the news about a crowdfundin...

Re: Forgotten mecha shows?
One series I'd definitely consider forgotten is Viper's Creed, a 12 episode series from 2009 directed by Shinji Aramaki and featuring transforming bike mecha. It didn't make a big splash in a Japan, and a few episodes aired in the U.S. on G4. After that, it got a subpar dub-only DVD release and fade...

Re: Crunchyroll and Funimation?
Well yeah, the entire point of the merger would be to have one larger library to dominate anime streaming. It will probably also eventually mean unifying accounts, the streaming software/backend, pricing, etc.
