Re: Star Wars Episode VII
I saw it at midnight last night, and as another huge Star Wars fan, I felt the complete opposite: I thought it was absolutely amazing. I'll hold off on anything substantial, even in spoiler tags, but I'll just say yay X-Wings.

Re: Model kits similar to the Tin Cod, Saberfish,...
1/144 Resin kits of both the Saberfish and TIN Cod were made by B-Club a decade ago and haven't been reproduced since. You'll note the Saberfish kit was produced as "Shaver Fish" due to Engrish, so it was difficult to find even then because of that spelling. I actually have the Saberfish k...

Re: Zaku Sub-Weapons
I wonder about the Doms. Black Tri-Stars aside, have we ever seen them operate alone? That is in a Dom only group without Zakus or Goufs? I know we have for Rick Doms, but I'm not so sure about their ground originators. If not, then it's possible that the Dom was by the time it was actually deploye...

Re: Personal Reviews on these sites? (Trustworthy Sites)
they do carry P-Bandai stuff but expect to pay through the nose and once their stock is gone, that's it. For web-exclusive stuff, that seems to be the case with everybody. I don't think that stuff gets more than one production run very often... Anyway, call this a second recommendation for HLJ. The...

Re: What books are you reading?
The Third World War and The Third World War: The Untold Story were the first books to take on the hypothetical NATO-WTO showdown in a dramatic format. As always where the European Allies are concerned, the Brits did it first and then the Yanks did it better. :) But without that book's success I am ...

I wouldn't call the early 90's Victory kits rare at all, seeing how they (Like many kits from the 80's and early 90's) get re-released every year or so and can be purchased very easily (And cheaply) on the internet. Hell, that 1/100 Victory is only ten bucks.

Re: Turn-A Gundam getting a US DVD release!
The Japanese Official Turn A page uses Rolan: http://www.turn-a-gundam.net/character/01.html But the English Gundam games have used Loran I believe. AFAIK they did. Loran has been the only way I can recall its been translated into English for over a decade, going back to the old Official Guide book...

Overdue catch up time, school is a killer... Darth Plagueis , was excellent, one of the best Star Wars books I've read. The only issue I had with it, which was not at all the fault of the book, is I couldn't read it consistently, because of school... ...For which, I've had to read quite a bit over t...

Re: Javelin's Sucessor
Most likely something based on the Victory. Then again the Federation is not going to last for much longer after the end of Victory. For what it's worth, if the RGM-147 number is accurate (Gundam Wiki grain of salt and all), that would mean it's development started in UC 0147, which is before the L...

Re: So just how many colonies did Zeon gas, anyway?
I know it's a bit off-topic, but... Steven “Doc” Rogers parents were on Side 4. Australia is where is younger sister would be married. Am I wrong for thinking this was a deliberate reference to Captain America? I mean, IIRC, Okouchi's 08th MS Team novel is full of Western pop culture references. It...

Re: I-Fields/Beam Shields on UC battleships
Just to put an official note on this: Juumanistra, don't be a jerk, m'kay? Thanks. As for the subject, the lack of I-Fields is easy to explain, if for the reasons Mark notes if nothing else. It's worth remembering that warships almost always have missile launchers, and even in the later UC world whe...

Re: Stop Motion- Better to use 1/100 or 1/144
Well, like the ships, the 1/550 scale kits do also come with 1/550 scale MS as well. Just glancing at the pictures on HLJ, unlike the figures with the 1/1200 ships which are just a single solid piece of plastic that aren't pose-able at all, the ones with the 1/550 do seem to be able to move their ar...

Re: Stop Motion- Better to use 1/100 or 1/144
As an FYI for MSiA, their size is roughly 1/170, at least according to the old Animerica guide book most people are familiar with. Obviously, the exact scale varies from figure to figure, as the Wing and early UC figures were all about the same size even if the suits in question were different heigh...

Re: Making Sense of the Battle of Loum
FWIW, episode 1 of IGLOO shows him destroying a Salamis and a Magellan in the 20-odd seconds we see of him in combat. Of course, he just shoots up the bridge of the Salamis and it then explodes from the middle of its hull, so maybe he didn't get credit for landing the critical hit on that one, but d...

Re: Combining Ideon and TF
The answer is always the same: all robot crossovers lead to Cleatus, the Fox Football robot and Joe Buck's horrible voice. But yeah, as Arsarcana alluded to, there really is nothing to talk about, since any attempts at merging stuff from different universes is almost impossible, since they r...

Re: My Journey Through Mobile Suit Gundam
Anyway, we've talked about the masked men in the past, and a random question popped into my mind. Char has a vocal theme song. (Here Comes Char--"Char, Char, Char!") I forget, does that theme song ever appear in the 0079 anime TV series or trilogy movies? Because that'd be a really unique...

Re: What books are you reading?
Updating time: Catch-22 was good. I thought it dragged a bit at points in the first half, although that may have just been my reading it in brief spurts, but the second half, and particularly the last few chapters, were excellent stuff. After that, I breezed through Slow Getting Up by Nate Jackson, ...
