Re: If mecha anime went Hollywood.

Certainly I seem to be in the minority when I think a Gundam movie could work, and even be profitable, if done right. This notion that they would have to fit 50 episodes of whatever series into a single movie is just silly. You don't need all 50 episodes to make a decent, stand-alone movie with some...

Re: Post OYW Population

Does Luna count as space, or is it counted separately? Not that I imagine that Lunarians suffered significant casualties during the war. As for ridiculousness, I often point out the fact, that the premises of UC is fairly implausible. That is, the Federation being able to build enough space colonies...

I'm a fan of the time skip, it allows a single show to cover more ground. As for making one series into two, that seems like a clever marketing strategy, since it allows you to milk a series for merchandise longer. And for us viewers, it means no clip show episodes, though the waiting period is rath...

What was up with those innovator-looking people in the crowds at the end of the episode? They noticeably stood out.

People sure like Jupiter as of late. Guess it is kind of an evil looking planet.

I could argue about the whole pacifism redux, and the Jamitov-Ribbons comparisons, but I think it's best to just agree to disagree on this issue.

I was actually referring to you, based on some of your reviews and comments. But other people did the same. Well, if you're criticizing me, that's easier to explain. So I didn't like SEED as much as 00. Is there a problem with that? Is there something wrong with me not seeing the "plenty of shortco...

Didn't seem to bother anyone when people complained about Seed (which they should, since it was full of flaws), but 00 seems to get special treatment for some reason, when it too has plenty of shortcomings, many of which it shared with Seed. Don't try to point out a false hypocrisy when one doesn't...

Gundam 00 almost seemed like pastiche of Gundam clichés, but it's not the first series to be guilty of that. People call it homage, I call it being unoriginal. This is the wrong kind of thinking. In any fiction these days, there's not a single idea that's completely "original." Humans have been te...

When people say they're from Jupiter, I always took that as the Jovian system, which includes the Galilean moons (Ganymede, Io, Callisto, and Europa). There's also been talk of floating cities on gas giants which could mine gas, so something like that is also a possibility. Though after Gundam X, th...

But hey, at least it didn't have any clip shows. And the pixie dust looked pretty.

Overall I would give the series a 1.5-2/5.

I'm surprised they decided to keep the Federation around, figure'd in light of the many atrocities that government committed, they'd have abolished it and come up with something new.

The Zeon forces hanging out in the shoal zone may beg to differ.

So did the OYW end in a bloodless or bloody coup?

I've been trying to find info on how exactly the war ended. Lot of stuff refers to a Darcia Bakharov, prime minister of Zeon who makes peace with the Federation after A Bao Qu. In Encounters in Space, the player has to protect Bakharov's ship as he tries to go to the moon to work a peace treaty, as ...

Sure would be funny if that extraterrestrial life turned out to be very hostile, that'd throw a wrench into Aeolia's plans.

Aeolia's plan seemed kind of... expected. I was hoping for some plot twist. But I guess the audience kind of has more knowledge on hand than the characters in the actual story.

I think Billy is quite tall actually, though it's probably helped by the fact that Sumeragi is usually around Feldt and Ian's kid, who aren't very tall either. Billy really came off as a loser here, even if he does get Sumeragi's pity. Oh well. Given that this is gundam (were announcing one's love o...

I'm always a bit surprised at how little protection those space-suits they all wear give. You'd think they'd be at least somewhat bullet proof. Especially since its the 24th century.

One thing that struck me as odd, is that the Federation and Kataron ships seem to just be sitting there watching they pretty lights. Didn't anyone say "hey, maybe we should be helping those guys trying to save the world?"

Granted, they'd be cannon fodder, but still, they could toss CB a bone.

Turn A also may have invoked aliens, at least, in some of the info given about the machines, specifically the Turn X.

It is interesting, though not unexpected. I wonder if Aeolia saw any evidence of aliens during his travels across the Solar System.
