Re: Model-Related Pictures and Links
they MAKE them out of existing parts from existing kits. Not technicaly scratchbuilds but thats the way most modellers do them these days. IIRC, the first models of the Sinanju for DHM were based on a MG Hi-Nu with modified and scratchbuilt parts

Re: Upcoming Models, Merch & Rumors VIII
The proportions on the lineart 00 aren't redesigned. There's simply more surface detail. The actual product however seems to vary quite a bit, the same way the MG Sazabi model doesn't resemble either Katoki's or Izubuchi's lineart. thats actually what i meant. Ebikawa added more lines and added som...

Re: Upcoming Models, Merch & Rumors VIII
The size is the appeal, mainly, although nowadays they're just bloated MGs. 00 Raiser, while impressive, has 25000 yen that it has to live up to, as you suggested. Thats exactly what they are, bloated MGs. And the problem IMO is that MGs have come a along way in the last 3 years (think...since MG O...

Doesnt have to. I think the point is that it doesnt look Bandai at all...or Izubuchi for that matter. But, still looks goodDerringer wrote:it doesn't look like G-System's version at all

Re: Modeling Tips/Techniques/Help links
I like your way technique...but iv already finished painting my Sinanju gold trim parts. I masked them, wasnt even a difficult job because i went another route. I just took the parts right out of the box, cleaned them and without priming i masked the trimed areas and since theyre raised a bit i coul...

Re: Panel Lining after Airbrushing
you have to use the toothpick. Its one of the best, cheap dirty little tricks IMO for painting the hard-to-do spots. I have a MG Sinanju to work on right now and as we all know, its got loads of gold trim that needs to be painted on in order to look good because the foil stickers suck and the decals...

Re: Panel Lining after Airbrushing
Base paint on kit = enamel You can use any clear, just make sure the enamel is fully cured. Enamels take a little while to fully cure up, but once cured, it's strong stuff. I don't paint much with enamels as the base color, as I like the properties more for washes and fades. I just started using th...

Re: Soooo....got my first GFF figure at Otakon....
Yeah.... definitely not an action figure. They look and at they're best when they're just standing. All of them are like that. Thats mainly what Katoki makes eh, statues. ah, well then, guess it was good I didn't get any of the Zeonography three-packs they had there.... still, how frickin' unwieldy...

Re: Help with HG Flag (General modeling questions)
What i usually do if top coat in sections. Arms, torso, legs, etc. Never as separate parts, never as a whole kit. Also, keep in mind that clear parts like beam sabers and the covers for the GN condensors on 00 HGs will haze up, so if youre top coating the torso of a HG Exia, do partial assemblies to...

Re: Modeling Tips/Techniques/Help links
Fortunately, Testors sells gloss and flat coat. Krylon also has a line of flat, semi, and gloss clear coats that are perfectly fine (not sure what "model grade" :?: means, other than tiny cans of the same stuff at 3X the cost!). If you do go with Krylon or other large sparaycans, you just...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ninjascience/sets/72157594332177259/ this is an old trick and the pages in the link have been highlighted many times but its one of the best ways to do decent gunpla without all the tedious work that goes along with it. Great for starters...only problem is that modelling...

Re: Help with HG Flag (General modeling questions)
No, that final coat of top coat is entirely your choice and its based on preference. Nothing should go wrong. MOst people prefer to have mobile suits in flat colours as they simply look better. Some designs, however, look best in glossy, shiny colours...mainly Zeonic design if you ask me, may be bec...
