Re: The Official Gundam Twilight AXIS Mecha Thread Mk I

This site 's description for the Tristan explicitly mentions the NT-1, though I'm not entirely sure what it actually says. The Google Translate translation says something to the effect of: Although it is an aircraft based on the Gundam NT - 1 "Alex", the acquisition route and the developm...

Re: The strength of Luna Titanium

In some ways, annoying as it is, the vagueness of just how tough Luna Titanium is one of the few things that can help "future-proof" it as part of the specs sheets; by simply defining its toughness as "very", rather than giving a direct comparison to a real-world armour material,...

Re: question regarding rau le creuset piloting a MS

It's been a surprisingly-long time since I watched SEED , but my assumption was always that, either at Al Da Flaga's instruction or just as part of the cloning process, Rau was made into a Coordinator from day #1 - albeit one with the shortened telomere issue which caused him issues as an adult, and...

Re: Space Colonies: How close are we to making them?

In some ways, ridiculous as it is, I feel as if the Outer Space Treaty removed a lot of the impetus to develop substantial space infrastructure. While a perfectly good and sensible piece of international law - tl;dr no nation can claim extraterrestrial objects as their sovereign territory; nor can t...

Re: RX-160 Byarlant: EF or Titans Design?

From what I can recall - and this maybe totally off the mark - there's an implication in Unicorn that the Federation at the very least turns a blind eye toward the various anti-EF elements on Earth even as late as 0096, as the continued presence of these guerrilla fighters with their upgraded MS con...

Re: The Gundam face.

Samurai armor is pretty iconic, It wouldn't surprise me that one of the Gundam engineers(or Tem himself) took inspiration from it. That's more what I was getting at; rather than inferring that Revil and Ray knew one another, and had a mutual love of Japanese culture (or that Tem was trying to suck ...

Re: The Gundam face.

Is there any supplementary material in the Gundam works that talk about if the Gundam head in-universe was inspired by a samurai, or anything else? I don't think so... wasn't Tem Ray Canadian? Well, even that doesn't necessarily rule out the idea of a samurai-inspired faceplate; The Origin manga sh...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Exactly how "different" are we going to want in a Gundam story? It's 30+ years old. There's been so many entries to the franchise that we can't really say "Oh wow, that's never been done!" Evidence-01 aside, I point you toward the ELS... but I do see your point, completely. As a...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

I thought Gjallahorn is a force drawn from all four of the Earth Power-Blocs and is therefore similar to say the Earth Forces (OMNI Enforcer) of the Earth Alliance in Gundam SEED. The promo video says: Gjallarhorn: A military organisation formed by Earth's national blocs. An instrument of violence ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Okay, finally got chance to watch episode 2, and... this is different. In a very good way, too; familiar but not comfortably so. In some ways, almost every element of the series can trace is lineage back to a previous entry in the Gundam franchise, but the differences are substantial enough, and the...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Sucks that Gudnaminfo's youtube video is region locked could be a screw up on their end or its just temporary to allow the streaming services to get a head start on streaming it. GundamInfo's region-locking on YouTube is incredibly frustrating; none of their "(ENG Sub)" playlists seem to ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Okay, so that's episode 1 watched. I like it! Decent pacing, nice bit of exposition without being too heavy-handed, interesting universe and setup - looking forward to seeing where Iron-Blooded Orphans is going. The lack of energy weapons is an interesting conceit; I'm wondering if Ahab Reactor tech...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

And in what seems like a typical case of mixing up info, even though the announcement said that the North American stream would be available on Daisuki, Youtube and Hulu... it's not on Hulu at all and the Youtube stream is blocked, at least in the United States. Not just the US, the UK too. So unle...

Re: pilots talking with each other including their enemies?

It's also possible that Athrun never actually knew the best frequency to contact Freedom on; it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that Justice's comms system just had a "talk to Freedom" channel pre-programmed in (and vice-versa), given that they were sibling machines.

Re: Gundam Wing GOL/FT/MG new stuff THREAD

Tallgeese's fate in GOL http://i.imgur.com/AHY9imL.png Zechs... leaves it in a giant cupboard? Not quite sure if the dialogue makes that scene any more meaningful, but it looks like he's just stuffing it in an enormous wardrobe. Not quite as dramatic - or symbolic - as its fate in Wing itself, shame.

A good modern comparison would be Samsung , the Korean conglomerate giant corporate... thing. They're even headquartered on an office park in Seoul called Samsung Town , and looking at the size of the office buildings, that name might not be too misleading! With 489,000 employees and 2014 revenues o...

Re: Next possible Gundam anime teased

What does "Tekketsu" mean? According to this , either "exposure" or "gouging". The former would be apt given Deus257's concerns over Gundam over-exposure, the latter is simply a description of Bandai's Blu-Ray pricing policies :P Either way, the preview website is givi...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation

As also noted above, a prime minister is BY DEFINITION a member of the legislature who serves as head of government (but not head of state). So does the UC Federation represent a single government of a global nation or is it more heterogeneous like the United Nations? From the animation, it would a...
