Re: State of the Mecha Genre
i am surprised actually at the many third party Transformers toys in the market. and speaking of them, there seems to be some sort of irony when it comes to the fans, some complain about the bayformers adding TOO much detail but when it comes to toys doing the same its find and dandy? like that Vic...

Re: State of the Mecha Genre
Speaking as someone who's been watching giant robot stuff since the early '80's, I have the following to say: -GuP & Kotobuki are great, especially since Mizushima knows the genres & his Hollywood references well. It's interesting how Kotobuki was analogous to DCS in the first episode, then went the...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE Thread Mk I
In spite of all the action, this episode worked quite well as a breather episode before the final battle. Asides from the flashy stuff one expects from veteran players, some of whom have their own manga spinoffs, we get goofy stuff like Momo, confirmation of Capt. Zeon's long-suspected actual identi...

You know what really looked wrong and creepy? Not all the tentacles & whatnot, but the way Seltsam's head tilted sideways like that.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE Thread Mk I
I also appreciated how it answered the 'Dark Sarah' issue from the original show. Interesting how important Eve turned out to be with GBN's upkeep behind-the-scenes. Next week's episode will probably be a real punch in the guts. So I watched Episode 19 this morning before heading into work, and man ...

Re: The Official Identify this Show Thread
Too animated it’s more cartoon like starship troopers animation If that’s any help Like the Starship Troopers CGI show based on the Verhoeven movie, and not the 80's OVA from Sunrise? Moved around on skates? A sports theme? This sounds like the Heavy Gear animated series. https://www.youtube.com/wa...

Re: The Price of Smiles
Aesthetically, the theurgears from Soliel look like a weird mix of the seikijin from Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari and the Arm Slaves from Full Metal Panic! but maneuver like something out of Eureka Seven or Macross ... the enemy ones look like a crappy Graze knockoff. I feel that Yanase was going ...

Re: SSSS.Gridman
Best of the 1-cour shows I've watched this season but, make no mistake, it does require some familiarity with the original Gridman to fully appreciate the show.
Also, the deep dive work done by @Mach_Dent as the show aired reveals another layer of substance to the proceedings.

Re: SSSS.Gridman
I was sold at the floppy shoulderpads & the kaiju conforming to RL rubber-suit design conventions. The integration of 3D cgi elements to 2D traditional animation was not bad, either. Various references to Tsuburaya's other rubber-suit shows was nice as well.
Also, volleyball girl had it coming.

I feel rather ambivalent towards these new character designs & their means of attack. Not enthusiastic about the parts done in Flash, either.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Anime Thread Mk I
I generally liked how this episode was handled. It was basically a recap episode that actually advanced the plot, instead of going full-blown clip show. It's also nice for them to show that UNDERSTANDING can actually go both ways.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Anime Thread Mk I
Right now, what with him being a cyberstalker & all, I want to know if Tsukasa actually knows that the KO-1 in Riku's Force is his old clubmate Koichi or if he's just being really dense & clueless about that ("there's no way he could be MY Koichi, ha ha"). I want to see him going "Surely my old frie...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Anime Thread Mk I
Enjoyed the episode for the most part. The battlefield gave me SDGO flashbacks of that one co-op stage with the three shuttles. But--and here's the elephant in the room-- With how (literally) game-breaking the break decals are, there has been zero mention in the show of moderators or site admins ack...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Anime Thread Mk I
I felt that the drama caused by not!Stellar was rather forced this episode, but if it was a deliberate parody/indictment of her character in GSD then well-played, Sunrise. All the cameos & references aside, we also get some character development on Ayame. and then the episode where they trek the des...

Although yeah, you're also right about me not entirely buying it. Given how obsessive people are on the internet (and in general, remember that girl by the railway that then got badgered by all the train otaku?) I really do think he would have been found out way before now. Also, I think Fox Boy wo...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Divers Anime Thread Mk I
Yes, I am being completely serious. But how can we know that magazine was released after the events? Does it actually say on the cover "Sharyar Reveals Himself?" www That's the gist, yes. A simple reason for why he may have acted that way comes to mind, but, given your completely serious dislike fo...
