Still, I have to say, you're just ranting about why a '70s super robot-inspired show is lacking in extreme realism. My thoughts exactly. Shoulder spikes, V-fins, giant robots with 'faces' - this stuff is just the staple of mecha anime. These things are all still around, although maybe better integr...

Best "Second Stringer": Aeolia Schenberg . Who is this guy? Worst "Second Stringer": Lichtendahl Tsery . Interesting for the part when he died and the way his suit ripped it looked a bit like he was a robot underneath, but of course then normal not-really-caring-about-some-guy-on...

The idea to determine a guns size by measuring across the span of the entire gun, and not just one barrel doesn't make sense to me, because then the size of the 60mm vulcan guns themselves in the Gundam's head would only 6cm across. That would pretty much be useless for anything other than paint-sc...

I thought there was a debate about vulcan sizes (well, it was the ones in CE, but still...) where a 75 mm vulcan was being discussed. I recall it being stated that if the measurement was the total diameter of the weapon then it wouldn't be too unreasonable. It would actually be undersized... I beli...

I don't recall seeing brass shells spweing out from the side of the head. The Nu definitely spews out shell casings, as seen in a wonderful sequence from a CCA trailer (that isn't actually in the movie?). I think the RX-93 does actually eject casings at several points in the film itself. I'm strugg...

If that's the case, I'm gonna have to retract my previous comment. This like Bravaria challenging China, and China taking them seriously. It also raises all kinds of problems with logistics. How could this small amount of people credibly produce and maintain as many mobile suits as it did, and stil...

perhaps Anahiem was building suits for Axis? like this one? Maybe Haman was just counting on the disorganisation of the Federal forces following Gryps to blitz through any resistance and force a political settlement on her terms - and she almost got away with it. While the feds probably had enough ...

The whole questioning of the stealth aspect is assuming that an MS sniper fills the same role as a human one - it seems to me to be more likely that the emphasis is on a high-power, highly accurate long-range beam rifle, rather than staying hidden etc. After all this is a giant robot, not some guy i...

The two further away ships do look like they could be Musai-Kais, particularly the one in the second shot. You can sorta make out what looks like 2 lower engine-blocks, a high bridge-structure and maybe some turrets?
Edit: thinking about it, the leftmost ship in shot 01 could even be a Chivvay Kai.

I think its only fair to point that you're probably confusing Delaz's Gwazine from 0083 with the Axis flagship in Zeta. There's only one letter difference after all.

On the one hand you can always moan that technical aspects of MS operation aren't fully explained. But then I always think how much further Gundam goes in giving a huge ammount of technical background to everything - much more so than most sci-fi/anime - its part of the reason why I love it so much.

I have to say I really enjoyed MS Igloo - but its certainly not without its flaws. The Nazi-style imagery is just... well... at times its just borderline offensive. I mean - in the last episode where May's face appears in space with the 'Zeon' flag waving behind him gently in the wind? This aryan wa...

Also a GM Kai should be able to be upgraded into a GM II. I've seen mentions that a GM can be upgraded to the Kai, then the GM II, then the GM III. I seriously doubt that - GM to GM II sure, but if you look at the structure and shape of a GM kai? it makes no sense. Just like I personally retconned ...

On the subject of the original Gundam movie trilogy vs the series - isn't it true that Tomino used the movies as an opportunity to remove some of the more super-robot elements from the story (Gundam hammer, G-armor etc). Does that count for anything? obviously the gap between the movies and the seri...

There's no such thing as the RGM-179. The two designations used for the GM II are "RGM-79R" and "RMS-179". The latter simply uses the standard RMS prefix used by all mass-produced Federation mobile suits in the Zeta Gundam era. If that's the case then someone should probably get...

Pulling the trigger

When an MS fires a handheld weapon, say a machinegun or beam-rifle, does it physically pull a trigger on the weapon to operate it? I assume this is the case since most weapons seem to have trigger-guards on them, I also remember shots in ZZ where close-ups of MS clicking the trigger are shown. It ju...

Personally I think 2001 must have been a HUGE influence on Tomino when he created Gundam - we're talking about one of the most influential works of Sci-Fi here. I don't want to fall into the whole 'oh they stole this from that, this from that' etc, thats just the nature of genres. But clearly the (s...

Gundam (Mostly AU and UC) Uhhh... what other Gundam is there apart form AU and UC? Anyway, I going to have to agree with everyone on Code Geass, although I have to admit I found my interest staring to dip around the later episodes. The mecha design started off pretty good, but I much prefer the ear...
