Re: What books are you reading?
Still on the hunt for that elusive 5 star space opera though... can't ever seem to find one that I like... The elusive 5-star space opera you seek is the Jurisdiction series by Susan R Matthews, which is top-notch work. Barring that, because the first one of the series ( An Exchange of Hostages ) i...

That's an excellent analogy. I still can't stomach ZZ, and I'm a hardcore UC guy. Well done!Antkowiak wrote:It seems that Destiny is basically the American fandom's ZZ.

You might be. I liked Seed okay, but Destiny seemed a pathetic continuation to me.DuelGundam2099 wrote:I'm starting to be convinced I am the only person on this site that did not have/find any serious issues with SEED Destiny.

Re: What books are you reading?
I have just finished the book Things Fall Apart, which was great and I await the sequel Things Come Back Together (joking!). I am now starting on King Lear, because I am a huge fan of old man shakespear! Before this I finished Hamlit and at the start of this lovely summer I finished Macbeth. Thus e...

Re: famous people who like anime?
Purportedly, some of JM Straczynski's inspiration for Bablyon 5 came after watching a bootleg of Legend of Galactic Heroes.

Re: Vintage MS: Playing With Specs
One more interesting source of info on postwar Federation mobile suit usage: the kit manual from the HG-UC Zaku II F2 (Federation version). After the war, these machines were captured by the Federation Forces. Due to their ease of use, they were employed by the Earth Federation Forces in every area...

Kishiria's going. I think ShadowCell is, too. I'd be there but I missed it by a week, so I'm back in TX.

Minovsky particle density is notoriously short-lived inside the atmosphere, hence the more prevalent use of radar and IR on-surface than in space.

Re: Vintage MS: Playing With Specs
This would be the problem for me if Gelgoog gets heavier than Dom, and Gouf still heavier than Zaku... Gelgoog should be about as heavy as the Rick Dom , if the Zeon penchant for space combat suits being weighty maintains itself. Biggest difference is that Gelgoog packs very little in the way of di...

Re: Turn A Gundam: Coming soon?
While part of me is looking forward to seeing what is perhaps the most bizarre Gundam AU series finally get a US release, I'm pragmatic enough to virtually guarantee it will bomb savagely if it goes to TV. Between the oddball mech designs and the naked ritualism the censors will have a field day wit...

Re: YF-21 unrestricted acceleration
The human body is better at surviving g-forces that are perpendicular to the spine. In general when the acceleration is forwards, so that the g-force pushes the body backwards (colloquially known as "eyeballs in") a much higher tolerance is shown than when the acceleration is backwards, a...

Re: Lasers in Gundam
@His Divine Shadow wait hold on. You can bounce IR beams off of reflective surfaces cuz they're a type of light. I don't know if they beam the laser at a colony's mirrors or something and they reach a fed base. wild guess but totally possible. could work All lasers are light, they just vary in spec...

Re: Lasers in Gundam
But we don't know if it's x-ray of UV lasers. Most of the militaries of the world use infra-red lasers for communication and weapons guidance and what not. So it would be most likely for the militaries in the UC to use IR beams. In fact, I know for a fact that the White Base uses laser-based commun...
