Re: The Musai's Anti-Air Missile Launchers

Well my brief thoughts on the various types of the Musai is that the Late production type (0083) is that to me it seems that it was either developed just before the war, a rationalization of the need for better defenses, when a war seemed likely (and or perhaps with some experience in MS ops with cu...

Re: Cockpit question...

An interesting mecha`s feature in the "Fang of the Sun Dougram" and "MechWarrior Online" is the cockpit in the "head" of a combat vehicle. "Plus" this location of the pilot in the simplicity and security of ejection, however... In both universes the cockpit h...

Re: About weight, thrust, payloads and other oddities...

It's not really about the acceleration rates, 2G is not twice as fast as 1G (travel times), to reach a location in half the time you will need 4 times the thrust. However your over all speed is not dictated by your acceleration rate but by your fuel efficiency (known as ISP) and or Delta V (total ch...

Re: Travel time between planets

Humm been a while, as what we have seen for the canonical travel times and the pure torch drive travel time is posted, Gundam for the most part can not be using a pure torch drive, their travel times are much to long for that. 4+ months from Earth to Jupiter in the latter years either puts them at a...

Re: Travel time between planets

Ah Something I have some dealings with... I don't think Gundam is using purely torch ships, or at the lest ones with a lot more limitations than one often sees, as you will see at even at a rate of 1 meter per second can get you to places quite fast if you can use it for weeks on end. Opens up his t...

Minovsky particles and the EM spectrum

We all know that by in large Minovsky particles largely renders sensors that use Radio and Micro waves all but worthless (they still have some uses...), by in extension Infra-Red is less useful but of still of some worth, it also has some effect on conventional electronics, at high enough levels it ...

Re: Gundam infantry body armor?

Body armor was rarely seen before the mid-Eighties, when dependable Kevlar armor in various thicknesses became available enough to issue it to soldiers and policemen. The "Ranger armor" with ceramic support plates were not available for non-special forces in the First Gulf War c. 1990. Ma...

Gundam infantry body armor?

I was wondering, I do not recall seeing much if any body armor used by UC era Gundam.

So do they use any form of body armor in UC gundam or any of the other time lines? If not why?

Re: Mobile Suit Delta V values

What made you pick 4,500 as your specific impulse? One of the major advantages of Gundam tech over current real-world rocket science is the fact that they're able to use nuclear fusion reactors to power their thrusters -- which have Isp waaaaay more than 10 times that of conventional chemical rocke...

Re: Mobile Suit Delta V values

In a lot of cases, a straight division by the mass ratio yields a figure like 6.1 or 5.9 tons, but if you try it with 6.0 tons the mass ratio comes out the same (thanks to the magic of rounding to two digits). There are only about 3-4 cases in all of Zeta and ZZ where you can't get the listed mass ...

Re: MS-08TX Efreet Series

Here's an idea: does the MS-06F2 also has leg jet thrusters? Now that we know how the MS-06G looks and its thruster arrangement, I think the MS-06F2 might ahve taken the design into consideration, which would provide a good explanation for the extar large "verniers" on the side of the leg...

Re: Mobile Suit Delta V values

Note that the Gundam Mark II has a mass ratio of 1.44, and thus a weapons payload of about 4.2 tons. (This is one of the very few cases where the mass ratio math doesn't yield a payload figure that's a round number of tons; the ZZ Gundam is another.) Since the only variables in the delta-V equation...

Mobile Suit Delta V values

A while back their was some talk on what kind of endurance a mobile suit would have. While very little is given on how long a mobile suit can use it's engines, their are with a few assumptions enough info to get an idea how long a suit can operate (I would presume at max thrust) and how much Delta V...

Re: How powerful would UC beam weapons realistically have to

M829A3 Fires a 7kg Projectile at 1,555m/s or 8.47 Megajoules of Ke (their is a 3kg sabot but that plays no role in hitting the target). From what I have seen it seems that in some sources the Zakus 120mm seems to use older ww2 era projectile designs (I.e. APCBC, HEAT and APCR). In some of the debate...

Re: MS Weapons: Range Against The Machine!

That is why it would be silly to interpret it as just saying how accurate it is, since you can say it's accuracy is a few mm in 100km, not a few cm in 1000km if the gun is just going to be used in 100km or less range. It can be interpreted as Mark said, when there's no M particles around, one can s...

Re: MS Weapons: Range Against The Machine!

Sorry for posting in such an old thread, but I saw this in the index and wanted to comment. I think that you're misinterpreting the 1000km claim. I don't think this is a reference to an actual firing range, I think this is just a reference to minute of angle. Minute of angle is the way that a firea...

Re: Jet fighters no more, why stop using them?

Well the obviously they never bothered in creating the equivalent of a battletech Aerospace Fighter... :P I would assume part of the issue of the relative pore showings of fighters when facing Mobile suits is that for the most part they only have 2-4 fixed guns of 20-30mm caliber for the most part, ...

Ground speed of post OYW Mobile suits?

Most OYW Mobile suits have Ground speeds listed, however post that these have been left off. Is their any info on how fast they could get after the OYW? While direct statements are likely few and far between, what about animation based evidence? Would say a Jegan be faster than a Dom (in hover mode)...

So one could say that these are effectively what exists in the Gundam UC universe?

So what about the units in say the various Crossbone Vanguard manga? Like say the F99 Record Breaker?
