Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Mecha Thread Mk I

Specifically it was done in the first episode of the 00 Revealed Chronicles short story anime. They had Exia and Dynames fight each other in a physical mock battle to test their Double Drive Devise equipment sets. https://youtu.be/LLtzyOBQCJc Interesting, I've never seen this before. Is this like a...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I

The Utena comparisons are not a coincidence... the head writer Ichiro Okouchi wrote the novel version of Utena. Thaaaaat makes a lot of sense. I'm not familiar with the name but looks like they worked on King Gainer and Shigofumi, both of which I enjoyed for very different reasons. Oh also, Planete...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Mecha Thread Mk I

Adjusting power makes sense. I've been thinking they might intentionally have a 'low power' setting since the duels are intended to be non-lethal. Plus, the less damaged the MS, the less repairs and costs go into it, and less downtime before the student is ready to train again. Then again, a sliced ...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I

Suletta's on her first day in a school period, so I find that to be natural. Plus she's used to being the only kid on Mercury and she grew up mostly interacting with Aerial's AI as her only friend (notice how she's completely normal when talking to it) . I agree given her background the social awkw...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I

I'm looking forward to seeing how the next few episodes play out. This is certainly different than I expected, or rather I wasn't expecting so many scenes to replicate the 1st episode of Revolutionary Girl Utena. We'll see how many more homages they make. It looks like Suletta is going to be used as...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Mecha Thread Mk I

Having seen the first episode I'm curious if we'll get more information on beam weapons and how they function in this universe. The initial fight between the Dilanza and the grunt with the knuckle shield, the beams weapons didn't seem as destructive as something you'd see in UC, SEED or 00. Granted,...

Here's a tie in novel that goes with the OP and reveals some more information between the Prologue and Episode 1.

Re: Pacific Rim Novels and Comics?

I haven't read the novel but I know it adds a few technical details, for example why Gipsy didn't use the Plasma Caster underwater. I do have the Pacific Rim: Man, Machines & Monsters artbook and I highly recommend it. I've flipped through a few of the Pacific Rim comics, they're okay, but not a...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Mecha Thread Mk I

To me the teal Dilanza looks like Ippei Gyoubu's take on a Gustav Karl (with a mini Marasai helmet). I like it, although I think the Pharact is my favorite design so far, several of its pieces remind me of my favorite Armored Core builds.

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I

I personally suspect the darkness will be toned down in the series at least at the start but I honestly don't mind if it stays this way. Sometimes shows like to start with a strong theme to create a good first impression. Yeah I wouldn't mind that tone consistent throughout as well, but I get the f...

Re: Gerbera and Gerbera Tetra?

I had forgotten about the Hi-Mo Galbady Beta, AoZ really takes a wide breath of units for the Titans Test Team to try out. I always found their GM Sniper III configs to be interesting. Thanks for posting the number scheme, I remember seeing that a while back but haven't seen it in a while and wanted...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Mecha Thread Mk I

Thanks for the new info! I'm curious how they're going to thread the needle with Suletta's personally produced MS having blasphemous technology is allowed but we'll see when the show starts. One thing I found interesting from the prologue was the bad-guy unit using a physical sword instead of a beam...

Re: Gerbera and Gerbera Tetra?

I don't recall the Galbady Beta being a Titans machine, the Titans may have commandeered them especially when trying to stop the AEUGs Jaburo operation but it was the EFSF who were first using them after overhauling Zeon's Galbady Alpha.

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I

Finally saw the prologue. I'm very intrigued to see Gundam go in cyberpunk direction for this AU, using cybernetics to survive in space vice the genetic engineering we saw in SEED; it looks to be the major plot points in the show as well, whereas Naturals and Coordinators had more of a backdrop role...

Re: GW: Wing Gundam BR 3 Shot Maximum

If I understood OP's question correctly, they are asking if Wing's Buster Rifle is capable of firing at a lower output and if so can it fire multiple times on a single e-cap. For example, if the high power setting uses an entire e-cap, then it can only be fired three times on the high power setting;...

Re: The best thing ever been thrown by a mecha?

Plus there's the Buster Shield on Deathscythe, Wing Zero (TV) has the hydraulic tip on its shield. F91 uses its beam shield offensively, Sazabi has beam tomahawks built into its Shield. Amuro uses his Shield as a decoy constantly in MSG. For non-Gundam, if you count GaoGaiGar Protect Wall as a Shiel...

0083 Rebellion makes an attempt at investigating AE corruption but conveniently the fall guy for the GP04 is found dead and all their other leads go nowhere.

Re: The best thing ever been thrown by a mecha?

For serious moments I'll echo SonicSP and go with the Lance of Longinus.

For less serious I'd go with Gurren throwing Lagann in the very early episodes of TTGL.

For WOW! moments I'd go with Shining Gundam launching Kowloon Gundam during the Shinjuku arc of G Gundam.

Re: Jegan Beam Rifle Power Rating

Excellent, I'm glad that kind of information is available, thank you for sharing. I've always liked the Jegan design since it very clearly adapted to the next generation of warfare as MS had less and less armor but higher mobility, if the GM III is continuing the design thinking of the MK II the Jeg...
