Relative Cost of Ships in Gundam
In the past there's been discussion about the relative cost of Mobile Suits, for instance the Ball being roughly 1/4 the cost of a GM (Gundam Century) and the Guncannon being roughly 4x the cost of a Zaku II (MSV 3) and a Zaku II being 5x that of the Type 61 Tank (MS Museum). I've been curious if th...

Re: Main Gun on the Pegasus Class Ships
That is very confusing, especially if there's only 7 Pegasus class ships but more than 7 ships haha! I wonder if they ever produced a model kit for the Grey Phantom. I've only ever seen the White Base and Albion kits, but if there's a Grey Phantom it should answer the question of whether there's a c...

Re: Ships and Combat Density of Minovksy Particles
For what it's worth, one of the original blueprints for the Musai that came out back in 1981 does indicate that it has emission nozzles. You can see it here. I haven't seen that internal blueprint before, fascinating stuff. Thanks Deacon! Suddenly thought of this. Were the EFSF ships even designed ...

Re: The Official Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Anime Thread Mk I
Watched it yesterday. It is an extended and improved version of episode 15 from first Gundam TV series. Animation is gorgeous, same style as Hathaway (same animation team?) while keeping retro look to conform with TV series. Glad to hear you had a great experience watching the movie. I'm looking fo...

Re: Main Gun on the Pegasus Class Ships
I don't think they canonoically changed the cannons, at least none of the Japanese sites says that, and they only say some games changed it to beam firing, but the change in MPC in the official settings is because the orientation of the MPC changed in the show. The main reason for the cannons being...

Re: Ships and Combat Density of Minovksy Particles
That all makes sense, thank you. I had a feeling they were always releasing M Particles but I didn't know if emitting enough for combat density required diverting power from something else. I'm assuming if a ship retreats they may cut power in some places to maximize power being sent to engines. Nex...

Ships and Combat Density of Minovksy Particles
I was reading over some old threads regarding combat density and it brought to mind a question. For the smaller ships such as the Salamis and Musai, can a single one spread out enough Minovsky particles for combat density, or does it require a squadron of ships. https://www.mechatalk.net/viewtopic.p...

Re: Main Gun on the Pegasus Class Ships
Some pre-reading: https://mechatalk.net/viewtopic.php?p=396917 Yes, there's this strange thing in anime where they don't call the most powerful guns on the ships main guns. For example, the main guns on Space Battleship Yamato isn't the wave motion cannon but the 480mm 3x3 barrel shock cannons. And...

Main Gun on the Pegasus Class Ships
I always thought it was unique that the 580mm dual barrel main gun on the white base was a solid shell firing weapon. I saw this snippet on the Gundam Wikia, it's not repeated on the MAHQ profile so I'm curious as to how accurate it is. "The White Base's main and most powerful armament was a 58...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I
Ah interesting, I played Peace Walker but never got around to playing portable OPS. Well, always good to see newer talent working on mainline series; so far I'm really enjoying the mecha designs they've revealed in Witch from Mercury. I'm really hoping it will have the same animation budget and flui...

Only the Dilanza ( which he confirmed in a tweet ). The breakdown of the designers for the currently-announced units are as follows: Gundam Aerial - JNTHED Gundam Pharact - Koh Inaba Michaelis - Kanetake Ebikawa I was going to ask you if you had a link to those but looks like you already did!...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I
What I assume will be the antagonist or rivals Mech (darker shaded, resembles AC) looks really interesting. Are all the designs by Ippei Gyoubu?

Re: The Fate of Kamille Bidan
Fascinating stuff, I had no idea that Moon Crisis and Unicorn shared the same basic plot. I finished reading Sentinel earlier this year and I'll definitely look into the Moon crisis trilogy in the future since it sounds like it does a pretty job of trying to connect some of the side stories without ...

That's really neat, does the paper talk about what heat transfer they detected for the particular reentry angle it used?

Re: Darker than Black
Darker than Black was a really slick show by studio Bones with an interesting premise and great execution. Just enough mystery to get you pulled into the world, some interesting powers with very distinct limitations kept a good amount of tension for most episodes. Overall I really enjoyed it, the fi...

Re: Gundam MK-IV Lineage
Yeah, and consider both were already designing stuff for EFF during OYW(retconned, but iirc BOWA made RX-78's generator and Brash/Blash made the beam rifle), it makes perfect sense that Titans still contracted them. Ecole du Ciel is unfortunately unfinished and on indefinite hiatus. I don't think i...

Re: Gundam MK-IV Lineage
Very interesting, thanks for the info! I didn't realize AE had vacuumed up BOWA and BLASH after the OYW. I haven't read Ecole du Ciel yet but I've been meaning to get around to it. I ended up finding the old thread about the MK-III Halpuley and Eagley. https://www.mechatalk.net/viewtopic.php?t=5282&...

Re: Gundam MK-IV Lineage
Oh yeah I know the MK-IV was an SD Gundam premiere, the Scirocco built Titania also debuted in G-Generation as I recall. Is AE developing the MK-II / beam rifle a retcon or addition with later publications? AE playing both sides of nearly every conflict was developed after Zeta premiered (remarkably...
