Re: Practicality of Physical Melee Weapons in Gundam

00 stuff from the first post. Wow!!! What an outstanding post, very informative and concise, I have just learned a wealth of knowledge about 00 technology. My hats off to you! GN Beam Sabers have no operational time limits that we are aware off, either from animation or texts. Did not know that, I ...

Re: New Gundam Seed project; sequel movie, manga and more

Gundam SEED IV: The Voyage Home Starring space whales and nuclear wessels  well after the N-Jammer Cancellers have been installed. Honestly if the SEED movie completely diverts from previous entries and focuses on something new in the SEED universe, even space whales, that may turn out really w...

Re: The Official Gundam Hathaway Anime Thread Mk I

The film is doing pretty well since it released. ¥190M on the first day and ¥524M over the opening weekend . MSG III Encounters in Space is the highest earning Gundam film so far earning ¥2.3B so there's a chance Hathaway's Flash may break that record. I'm looking forward to July when we can see it ...

Re: Amuro and the Zeta Series

Well, in-universe I can give you some more reasons why they didn't just give Amuro a Zeta in 0093. As always thank you for sharing your insights. I had a few questions when you have the time. The Z+ is not your typical Gundam franchise downgrade mass production unit. It is an upgrade unit Absolutel...

Re: Amuro and the Zeta Series

There are three incredibly obvious answers: Is that really necessary? I hope you can agree that acting as if questions have incredibly obvious answers doesn't improve or foster a community that wants to improve their knowledge of Mecha and the universe they inhabit. Cost. Trust. The Earth Federatio...

Re: Amuro and the Zeta Series

Simple guess: harder to maintain. I do like that explanation, the Re-GZ could be a hangar queen because it's simply lacking available replacement parts so Bright is keeping it as a just-in-case. I don't know if Z+ parts are ever mentioned but it's mentioned in either the MG or HG kit that it shares...

Re: Starship Size Comparisons

Dolos class size is big, but not as big as you think likely because it got such narrow protrusion that made the overall length to be something like 15% longer than the main hull. The 182 MS capacity is completely ridiculous, there are drawing out the inner bay of it and it must be filled to have al...

Re: Amuro and the Zeta Series

In spec, the Re-GZ stands head and shoulders above the other mass production mobile suits of the period: the Federation's Jegan and GM III, and Neo Zeon's Geara Doga. This is what makes the Re-GZ cameo in Unicorn interesting. If the Re-GZ is head and shoulders above the Jegan then why is it a hange...

Re: Starship Size Comparisons

Those are very handy charts, thanks! Luna II is smaller than I expected.

My goodness the Jupitris is quite big. I wonder what the crew size on that is.

Given the capacity of the Dolos in Gihren's Greed I had always assumed it would be massive, several times the size of White Base.

Re: Practicality of Physical Melee Weapons in Gundam

Hmm, nothing immediately come to mind, I will try to find it but that was pretty much the image it gave me from day one they introduced the Hyakushiki and also in Evolve 9 the AE staff's reaction to Shinn(implied) asking them to repaint it in grey. It definitely makes sense, an ostentatious gold su...

Amuro and the Zeta Series

Good afternoon everyone, Earlier today I was looking up some information on the Guncannon DT and the Nemo's of the 0096 era which led me to halfway though one of the old Unicorn mega threads. A lot of spirited discussions and overall a very enjoyable reread seeing the different perspectives. While I...

Re: Starship Size Comparisons

Thank you for these, I had forgotten just how big Zentradi ships were. It's been a long time since I've seen Macross or DYRL, I'll had to add a rewatch to the list this year. Merzo is a great resource, I managed to pick out a few Macross/Macross II entries but that seems to be all that I can find fo...

Starship Size Comparisons

Good morning everyone, I often find it helpful to have a size or scale reference since we don't always see starships in the same shot. We know the Dogosse Giar is big but just how big compared to the Argama or the Radish. For that purpose I usually refer back to this chart that I originally found on...

Re: Practicality of Physical Melee Weapons in Gundam

That's why the Hyakushiki is a special case, and the other is the Evolve 9 Grey Zeta(that is really golden) Different coloured ABC are less effective but still useful against beam shots. There is also the Beam resistive coating as the predecessor, so they have ablative beam defence even before ABC,...

Re: Practicality of Physical Melee Weapons in Gundam

You could see Exia's swords vibrate in Episode 7. I am overdue for a rewatch so I will definitely keep an eye out. The beam sabres short run time is like also due to them being very prone to malfunctioning after awhile. In OYW, GM's beam sabre has about 50% malfuntions after being used. They are bu...

Re: Some observations and questions about 80s cartoons

2. There was a weird relationship between America, violence and moral in the 80s. People didn't bat an eyes when they make animated shows for children filled with violence like Rambo and G.I. Joes, but were ready to go up in arms for whichever rap, punk or metal albums. 4. Not a lot of people actua...

Re: New Gundam Seed project; sequel movie, manga and more

Completely agree, as much as I love Mwu and Andy bringing them back didn't add anything. Mwu's final sacrifice at the end of SEED was perfect, wish they hadn't messed with that.

Re: Practicality of Physical Melee Weapons in Gundam

Barbatos was never unearthed in the show, it was always in their possession. CGS was using its reactors to power their base for a long time in fact. In any case, its reactor performance was not an issue in its first battle presumably cos they have been maintaining that. They were however caught off...

Re: Practicality of Physical Melee Weapons in Gundam

In the anime series, maintaining the Gundams were rarely an issue for Tekkadan. The only time it was an issue was when Tekkadan faced Teiwaz for the first time where it was mentioned in the dialogue. Very informative, thank you for sharing! I recall then mentioning maintenance after unearthing the ...

Re: Practicality of Physical Melee Weapons in Gundam

Gundam Hammer just seems to be too massive to be vaporised, but considering the beam shields can slice through MS, this might not work and can only be used as a last ditch attempt. (And it likely wouldn't work the second time provided that the first would have depleted most of the mass on the hamme...
