Gundamn@MAHQ Series/OVA/Movie Suggestion Thread MK I

Hi Everyone;

We've created a thread for series/OVA/movie suggestions for review. The rules for this thread are as follows:

1. You know what we cover, so keep your suggestions to what we've reviewed in the past (e.g. Transformers, Gundamn topic, Spider Man Chaos Theater topic).

2. If new to Gundamn, please review the topic list in past episodes to make sure we have not already reviewed your suggestion.

3. Prior to submission, please ensure your suggestion has not been submitted by another listener.

4. Finally, your suggestion does not guarantee that we will review your suggestion in a timely manner or at all. We have a large list of own.

Thanks again for your input.

I'd like you guys to refer some more Imagawa stuff. Maybe Giant Robo or Shin Mazinger?

Zoids! Nah just kidding, how about Samurai 7? And Neo's favorite anime of all time: Rahxephon.

Some recent titles: Majestic Prince and Valvrave. Guilty Crown is fine too. The latter pair are quite controversial so it'd be neat to hear your takes on them. Not to mention they're from the same mind as Code Geass.

Since you guys liked GITS SAC and 2nd GiG, you might be interested in a show called Heat Guy J. While not necessarily mecha, there is a badass android cop, and a mecha powered armor.

Another show you might have heard from is a Bones production called Mars Daybreak which is about underwater pirates using mechs on a water world Mars.

Since Soulbro and Neo recently mentioned this show and it does have mecha, Infinite Ryvious.

And while you guys have done a spotlight on VOTOMS in whole, how about a Votoms round-up, discussing the various series and what you would've changed, etc.

Re: Gundamn@MAHQ Series/OVA/Movie Suggestion Thread MK I

My suggestions would be GunxSword and Planetes.

GunxSword is a fun Super Robot show with lots of comedy but also plenty of action and a satisfying revenge plot. I'm not sure, but for whatever reason I seem to recall Soul Bro may have seen this already.

Planetes is more sci-fi than pure mecha, but you've covered a few of those in the past. It's basically a story set in the near future, when humanity has to deal with the semi-realistic problems of space garbage disposal. There are some elements of slice-of-life/office comedy and of more serious thrillers too. Just as an additional point of reference, I'll add that the original manga is very good too.

Both of those were very different projects directed by Goro Taniguchi and, if you'll excuse my going out on a limb, I'd say you'll likely get more out of them than from certain unrelated shows that were trying to be Code Geass and didn't quite work out.

Neo and I haven't had our throw down about Nadesico yet.

If you're willing to do (hard) space related sci-fi without mecha:

Space Brothers / Uchuu Kyodai - manga (2008), live-action movie (2012) and anime series (2012)
Gravity - the 2013 movie from the same director as "Children of Men"
Moon - 2009, starring Sam Rockwell

Already on the list, and believe your beat down on P.O.S, i mean P.O.D, will be televised.

Re: Gundamn@MAHQ Series/OVA/Movie Suggestion Thread MK I

I know I have requested this in the past, but I would like to hear the Gundamn crew's thoughts on the anime adaptation of the Danball Senki trilogy (or LBX Trilogy), the media mix project from Level-5 that spawned video games and a decent model kit line from Bandai which I think was a success for Level-5.

I am especially curious as to what Neo's thoughts are for Danball Senki W(read as Danball Senki Double), the second series of the three, which deals somewhat about his expertise a.k.a robot apocalypse.

I'd second Majestic Prince. That show was a fun romp last year and way better than expected.

May I second a suggestion? Flame X's suggestion of Robotics;Notes. It's a very well written mystery for a large part of it. While the mecha part is a very clunky realistic mech that the school club is trying to make. I think you guys would really enjoy it. And it's subbed on Hulu. So it's easily accessible.
