Well, I do hope you can face the truth that GBA is outdated, there's no use in wishing that a Japanese gaming company is going back to release games for GBA, after it stopped production for over 2 years (granted the GBA was very successful). Every company that wants to make money has moved on to the newer systems.
I mean the DS is very successful, to the point where Japan made laws for DS games to be release on weekends only! I will say that members here have did their best to find games that are good for the GBA, and we can't do any kind of backward game transition from a DS to a GBA.
For this point on, its totally up to you. I will say the DS is a good gaming system with a large game library (much, much bigger than the PSP) and good battery life; but if you don't want to spend money on it, then don't. Otherwise, you can import JP games for the PSP, and try to work with other gamers on translation (I worked with my bro on playing Sengokou Basara:BH on PSP).
