Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Well this episode is total proof, that being the head of one of the great houses, is no guarantee for being a great leader or man at all. Whats the saying? "ancestry is no guarantee for greatness" One of the many reasons why i believe that the feudal system fell....but besides that, he too has this thing with chivalry, that is a bit mocked by the show. I mean like Clank and Carta, who wanted honorable duels and stuff, he himself is deluded by some sort of moral code or whatnot, and is not capable of seeing reality and the brutallity of war. not to speak of the consequenzes of the actions. But if this is like i predict it will, he will not be held responsible (lack of detailed witnesses i presume) and tekkadan will have to lose their had for that. Which means they would have to rely on McGillis more then ever, since he is the only one in the position to help them clean their name. Only thing i did not get is, why he could not pilot the valkyira frame. And is it the Grimgarde upgraded or another valkyria frame, that is an improvement of the Grimgarde?

Of the three, I find Crank to be actually reasonable. He doesn't want to kill children and so he use challenge to settle it. He also offer reasonable alternative of surrendering (the only part that they can't accept is to hand out Kudelia). Most important, the to-be-Tekkadan only has Barbatos then, so there's no reason to refuse his challenge (aside from surrender, which I think is Crank's desire outcome).

I was actually referring to Yuna (I had to look that up).
Oh, THAT guy. I'd managed to forget about him somehow. Yeah, I suppose where Darwin Award recipients in Gundam are concerned, he'd definitely be a top contender right alongside Iok. Still not sure, but I almost want to say that him I still hate more, because for his monumental stupidity Iok is at least a tolerably competent pilot.

Yup. It's not new, of course - incompetent leaders in Gundam have been around for a while - but it's definitely one of the more blatant recent examples.
Crank, of course, wasn't what I would consider to be a leader in terms of his position, though Orlis Stenja was definitely another example of a man whose authority far exceeded his competence. Orlis, though, got what was coming to him pretty quickly when he got smooshed with extreme prejudice at the end of Ep1.
I do have to say though, that the most glaring example of TDTD we've yet seen in IBO is IMO not Crank, nor even this idiot or Carta, but the first of Carta's subordinates to get lolstomped in Ep23. You know, the one who noticed the giant death machine barreling towards them and walked further away from his cockpit to keep talking instead of getting back behind the controls of his machine. Of course, like Orlis he pretty much immediately got what was coming to him...

But the thing about the aforementioned example is that his stupidity got him messily killed. Iok's, so far, has only gotten his own men and innocent bystanders killed, which makes it even worse in my book.

It's not 100% certain but the official website profile uses the word "refurbished", specifically Grimgerde was refurbished into a heavy type to increase its defense capabilities so it can act as an escort.

We can definitely be certain that it used to be a Grimgerde, the question is whether it's the same one that McGillis used in Season 1. Considering we've seen a grand total of one Valkyrie Frame before this and it's mentioned that this one also used to be a Grimgerde, I would say it's very likely that it's the same one.

The episode went very fast! McGillis and Orga didn't waste any time, they turned in a masterful plan of ambushimg Hashmal and friends on the way to Chryse. And then Mister Murphy interrupted the setup via an overbred dumbass with delusions of grandeur. *facepalm* One roasted farm, medium-toasted pilot, and a great Big Damn Hero entrance from Barbatos, we are ready for one epic badass battle! Well, that is for Tekkadan only, most likely. McGillis met the Masked Man, and he is ready to drop the Gundam shoe there.

It's beautiful...: Mikazuki admires Hashaml a great deal. No comment on the possible recognition of a kindred spirit!
Seven days of fire: Anybody else get that Nausicaa vibe as well during the Hashmal infodump? ;) Again, as a Saberhagen fan it was a mighty episode for me.
We shall not be moved: Kudelia-hime sits and waits for the judgement of Fate. She has come a long way from the hesitant trophy we met at episode 1, right? Great PR, builds the popular support, and Mikazuki goes into Mamoru-kun mode.
Let's spllit up: Should have stuck with the masked man, Julietta. :P
Nanolaminate armor: Is effing awesome!! :o

yazi88: Jerid Mesa was a goddamn tactical genius compared to Iok-no-baka. He also learned from his mistakes, which seems unlikely here...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I have a feeling Naze is going to get killed by Teiwaz because of this incident - as he promised in the last big meeting if anything bad happened.

Orga's going to feel really really bad I have a feeling Tekkadan is going go after the other guy that leaked the info because of this too, maybe starting a larger war in the process with Teiwaz and fulfilling the "Tekkadan is going to be enemies of everyone" prophecy that the Dawn Horizon guy
made possibly.

Well given that a giant mech destroyed a lot of property, i believe this will fall back to tekkadan. Naze will not be able to help them this time, and he might get trouble for him self. I believe that tekkadan and the McGillis faction will be surrounded by enemies, and that getting out of this will be the focal point of the rest of the season. maybe dealing with remnats of the Calmity war too, who knows. I wonder if more events of that time will be shown to us, or if it will be just a minimun to bring the story forward.

Every time Julietta and the masked man are together I cannot help but picture them as their super sentai counterparts. Just cannot help it.
And boy does that mobile suit pack some serious heat.
I have not been this stunned since the Big Zam or Apsalus III.
One thing for sure this will not end well easily even if the power of Obari allows the Tekkadan to take it down.

Well, while most of us compare Vidar's mask to Montero, Japanese semm to compare it to Ouja's.

Vidar the MS might get some upgrades using other Gundam's signature weapons...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Interesting. Vidar still has enough sense to not pick a fight with McGillis right now, but he give more than obvious hint about who he is too. I thought he would keep it a secret for some time, guess playing mind game isn't his thing afterall.

Damn, Chad finally stand out. That chopper throw move is surely going to be replicate in SRW or G Generation for sure.

Julietta's "What...the fuck?" expression upon Iok reactivate his MS is great. XD And once again, his stupidity cause more damage (with "Aren't I cool?" expression nonetheless). Really, I wish Tekkadan can capture him and keep him around as comic relief, because he deserve such humilation instead of death. Too bad, that doesn't happen. Guess we have to put up with his lethal stupidity for sometime. ...Ok, I admit it's kind of hillarious now, sometime it's more of black comedy, but I did chuckle when he start crying about how Julietta is going to revenge in his place.

So Gundams enter "beyond mortal" mode in response to their old nemesis...well, killing angel is costy act. And who would expect Zack to be Mr.Exposition here?

Alright, Kudelia & Atra plant a nice field of lily and rise Mika's near-death flag at the same time (well, he just can't be dead at this point, can he?).

Well, I think everyone know from start that Mika going to fight Hashmal, it's on the gunpla box anyway. But we have to wait until next episode for Metal Gear AMV.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

This was a good episode, but still the action is nowhere near as constant as i'd wish. Forever gone be the glory days of Zeta and similar shows.

That said, we at least got to see the Flauros do some damage. Impressive, just not enough to apparently impress Hashmal. ;)

Way to go Mika, your epic entrances never fail. That transition to red eye monitor color was almost perfect, although I don't like the fiery animation... that just doesn't feel realistic in a show at least trying to avoid stylistic stuff. I prefer the traditional flicker glow rather than blazing glow. But this is a knight's show, so maybe they want eyes of flame coming from the helmets? Hmm... gives me some ideas for my own fiction works.

Idiok strikes again! It appears lethal stupidy is the great ally of Mobile Armor. To think he'd be able to meddle not once, not twice, but three times! Should we call him Brown Comet now? (His suit is brown...) "Moving back at you, three times dummer."

Now, next episode looks like the end of the fighting, and the beginning of Tekkadan's rise or fall to the throne. Only issue is, Chocky has revealed his true intentions. I honestly believe he intends to let Orga rule Mars, and does have a soft spot for them, but just like his only friend, they are but chess pieces on his board, king, queen, or pawn. He clearly never intended for them to grow out of his control, but Mika is about to clear another obstacle for Orga. Only, will it be his last? Chocky will doubtlessly pull something in the end that finally blocks them, assuming Teiwaz doesn't drop the bomb next week.

Here's to Hashmal! One of the chosen elite Mobile Armors to survive multiple episodes! The Elmeth and Moebius Zero welcome you to the table!
They don't know the power of a balanced vision.

Hey guys is it strange the fact that Mikazuki might not walk again, and that I'm more worried about Hush given his background about that stuff :( :( I swear to god I been Loving IBO but if they do anything stupid on Hush I will disappointed in this show, again I hope its just me being crazy.

I had pretty much the exact same look on my face at that point. And I suspect so did most viewers.

Guys I'm not kidding I'm losing my mind that Hush might go back to 1.0 if Mika lose his lags and I don't want that too happen, I really don't want him going all betrayal and leaving Tekkadan. :(

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

This was a good episode, but still the action is nowhere near as constant as i'd wish. Forever gone be the glory days of Zeta and similar shows.
It's this director's annoying insistance on trying to give its massive cast some scenes even though they're wholly irrelevant. For example,

-Atra and Kudelia. Useless-ass scene that wasted a minute talking about stuff that we already about.

-Also, is it weirdly symbolic that the anticipated meeting of the Blue Vidar and Blue Grimgerde and Blue Graze just left me with nothing but the equivalent of blue balls? We really don't even see much of McGillis' reaction aside from that one face he made after Gaelio's comments. As a positive, I like that Vidar is still pretty much Gali-Gali and not the delusional revengebot that Ein became in the latter half of S1)

-That was a weird cockpit situation in the Flauros

+But the Flauros was awesome! That transformation also reminded me of a Final Fantasy summon (FFXIII). Finally, a true long range weapon in IBO. Rebake was a so-so turned more into an all-rounder this season. "Galaxy Cannon"? Get real lmao

+the AV/Gundam Frame safe mode is interesting, to say the least. And then I suppose Mika's gonna break all his bones then, welp. I wonder what that means for the 'unleashed' Barbatos. I mean, we saw flashes of that during the S1 finale, but with the red eyes. are we going to see the equivalent of SEED mode / Trans-Am mode?

+Idiok transcends his own stupidity in each passing episode. So stupid, in fact, that I was ragging on Julieta for being too much of a snide bitch and I find myself now in her side, completely understanding why she acts the way she is around Iok. I feel some remorse by wanting her to die spectacularly early on. Iok's such an apocalyptic dingleberry.

+Hashmal is no joke. I like that Chad was able to land a crit and tank the beam's direct shot, and that Ride was able to lure him in, but hell, it tossed around everyone like a rag doll! Reginlaze, Shiden, McGillis's Graze, all no match.

+Finally we see some quiet power struggle between the love affair of Tekkadan and McGillis' Gjallahorn. For all intents and purposes they're real allies, but they never lose sight of the fact that they're still trying to one up each other silently with show of force.

+One thing I noticed is this is one of the few occassions where I feel the Gundams actually have a limited form of... personality. Most Gundams in any other series are merely just machines, but the Barbatos seem to respond to elevated threats. The only other Gundams that has some sort of feedback like that is the Wing Zero and the Epyon. CMIIW, guys. But it feels like Evangelion now also. Those AV wires isn't hurting that image, either.

So is next episode the mid-season finale? So how's this thing gonna go, will Mika turn into a vegetable and/or explode in cockpit after Transamu Barbatos overworks itself? Here's my long shot predictions of what could happen:
*Barbatos gives a valiant fight but loses against Hashmal, barely, as Mika finally overloads and gets crippled. (or, syncs to 400% and does some brief God-mode stuff)
*Vidar (under the assumption that it has an Ein OS and no AV) kill steals Tekkadan and acheives an Order, McGillis faction loses standing
*They develop a system that can use Mika as an OS (Again with the assumption that Ein is still in some form there in the Vidar), guiding... Hush as the new pilot of Barbatos  Basically, Hush will end the season as the lead while Mika becomes one with the Force (sorry, Rogue one weekend) (Also sorry I just compared IBO to Final Fantasy, Evangelion and Star Wars in one post) (not sorry)

And Exia. It maybe hard to tell for us but Setsuna is clearly read her well. Then again, she's the series' main heroine  .
