List of Gundam Merchandise Currently Available to Buy

The purpose of this thread is to keep an updated, accurate list of currently available Gundam anime, manga, and novels in the United States. If this list is missing something or is out of date, please comment below to have it added and/or fixed. When applicable, I use Amazon links. Many items can be found elsewhere also; I chose to list the Amazon links as they are the most universal for many people.

Right Stuf has also confirmed that the original Mobile Suit Gundam will be coming to Blu-ray in late 2015. They have also confirmed that the following will be released on DVD: Z Gundam, Gundam ZZ, V Gundam, Gundam X, and the Turn A Gundam compilation movies ("Earth Light" and "Moonlight Butterfly").

Alternatively, even though some Gundam series are expensive to find on the out-of-print and/or used markets, there are many that are cheap. A quick search on Amazon (video, print) or Right Stuf (video, print) will show many DVDs, manga, et cetera that can be purchased for a very reasonable price. Of course, there are also options like eBay.

-----

Some thoughts the current situation of Gundam and anime as a whole:

With the fall of Bandai Entertainment and Bandai Visual in the United States, many Gundam anime became "out of print." However, more recently there have been efforts to bring Gundam officially back to the United States: GundamInfo, Gundam's official website portal and YouTube channel, streams various Gundam anime; Right Stuf has partnered with Sunrise in order to bring more Gundam to home video, including not only series that have been released in the United States in the past, but also series that have never received an official United States release; and Vertical's effort to bring Gundam print back to the United States, starting with their high-quality release of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, and promising more Gundam in the future.

With pirating as simple as it has become, it's easy for people to go to non-official sources to watch Gundam and other anime. The truth of the matter is that these websites do not buy the rights to the shows that they put online, and in fact they are illegally profiting from the pirated material because of advertising on their websites. Of course not all Gundam series are available for easy purchase; since some Gundam has become out of print, certain used box sets sell for well over $200 for a complete series. However, when able to support the creators of the anime, the fans should "vote with their wallet" so to speak. Even watching official episodes from YouTube for free benefits Sunrise and the creators by giving the company revenue from the advertisements. But allowing Sunrise to make revenue from purchasing or officially viewing their content, it greatly increases our chances of receiving more official Gundam here in the United States. This allows English dubs to become a reality; and even for fans of subtitles, generally speaking official subtitles are more accurate and professional than those made by fansub groups.

So as Gundam fans we all need to put our money where our mouths are and buy the merchandise for the series that we all care for. By doing so we help the creators and the fans.

This list focuses on what is available in the United States. Other regions and countries will have different availability (such as some Asian countries having access to Gundam Reconguista in G on YouTube). If there is enough demand, I will consider making and maintaining lists for other popular regions.

Re: List of Gundam Merchandise Currently Available to Buy

Huh, I didn't realize that The Origin was available on Amazon Instant Video. Pity isn't not part of Prime Instant Video, but it's better than nothing.

In any case, nice job in putting this together. With stuff starting to be released again after Bandai Entertainment imploded, it should be possible to keep it up to date as new stuff is released (or old stuff is re-released). Makes for a nice resource to have it all in one place.

I'm almost surprised this wasn't done earlier. Though perhaps because it was just difficult and ever shifting?

Re: List of Gundam Merchandise Currently Available to Buy

Since Hulu picked up Recongista in G and Iron-Blooded Orphans is available streaming in a bunch of places, it's probably worth updating that info in the first post.

Gundam Anime Streams (Hulu)
Reconguista in G (English Subtitles, subscription required)
Iron-Blooded Orphans (English subtitles, subscription required)

Iron-Blooded Orphans Streams (English subtitles)
Daisuki.net
Gundam.info
Hulu (subscription required)
Crunchyroll (one week delay)
Funimation (one week delay)

Also, for the links in the first post, they seem to have removed the first episode of Gundam Unicorn from their YouTube channel, so that link no longer works.
