perdo makes a good point, i could see there being a problem if BATMAN used the b-word but what is the big deal about criminals doing it.

btw i have not watched Star Trek NExt Gen but Riker refussing to accept promotion, reminds me of the the Star Wars character Wedge Antilles who refused to accept promotion for a long time because all he wanted to do was fly starfighters, what finally got him to accept promotion was having Admiral Ackbar point out the fact that all of his subordinates are also passing up promotions in order to stay with him

The reason Riker kept passing up Capt promotion multiple times because he was holding out for the Enterprise chair (aka the hottest girl in school) and refused to be a realist that he would have to start out captaining a lower tier ship first, and settle.

Quick question:

Being new to Star Trek I wanted to get the general opinion of you guys: Should I start with Next Gen, or is there another series that I should start with first?

In my opinion Next Gen is by far the best. Just start with it.

If you intend to start with TNG, I'd suggest starting at season 3. Season 1 is horrible, and season 2 is a very mixed bag. If you like what you see, go back and watch the first two seasons later.

Thanks for the advice, I'll start with season 3 then. I'm pretty sure all the seasons are on Netflix.

Yes, all the seasons are available on streaming. In fact, all five live action TV series are available there.
