Guten Tag! two questions for the Dynamic Duo (just dont ask me who is batman and who is robin)

I was wondering how you balance some of the geeky hobbies, tv shows, movies, life in general with that of your signifigant other?

My fiance is not a fan of anime and we usually have our own shows to watch but then there are movies and shows we have to see together.

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

Hey Dynamic Duo.
Don't have questions as usual I have more a tale to tell and wish to submit an application to CTPA(Chaos Theatre Pyromaniacs Anonymous)
Sorry for the length but this is my application form/story :P

So I think I may also have a thing for burning and making enemies suffer.
In a previous mailbag, Dead Space loadout one of my weapons was a flamethrower, it's nice to inflict some pain upon Necromorphs in close spaces at times.

And part 2 of the story is more recent, Far Cry 3, this game makes it easy, dangerous and fun to set things on fire.
For instance alot of the jungle foilage, grass, wooden buildiings, flamable cloth(like flags or drapes) on top of that, some bases have explosive barrels laid around or parked vehicles which produce simillar explosive results.
The weapons in the games which can accomplish this apart from landmines, C4, you can craft flame arrows, buy/equip a flamethrower(one missions has you burning a whole enemy base of Canabis)

So in conclusion, Far Cry 3 is a game I would rcommend for your inner Pyromaniac.
Sorry for the length Mr Guanche, but now the tale is told, the deed is done.
Until time, adios, from Mu.

Hi, Guys!

1) What are your three favorite war montages? Mine are the Dagorlad battle in the fellowship of the ring, the war of the dwarves and orcs in the unexpected journey, and the war sequence in the second Renaissance. What about you?

2) Random Green lantern question. GLs are said to have the most powerful wills in the universe. Do you think a green lantern- whether a human or any of the alien GLs-can resist and overcome the corrupting influence of Sauron's one ring?

3) Chris previously mentioned that DS9 had great storytelling but low ratings. Do you guys think that if DS9 came out now, in a time where a grimdark show like Game of thrones is very popular, it would've done better?

I'm putting on a doctor's lab coat for this so trust me. I'm totally a doctor.

I've cross-referenced your tendencies for setting things on fire and I have come to believe that you two are in fact NOT sociopathic pyromaniacs. I cite the episode where you reviewed non-Miyazaki Ghibli movies. Specifically, Grave of the Fireflies.

I believe I can draw the line there to determine one's obsession with fire, so:

At the beginning of the movie where the mother of our protagonist gets greviously burned, you have a choice. Do you:
1: Do nothing and allow the story to continue as you know it?
2: Immolate both the boy and his sister at that point in time?

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

Hi, Guys,

I was watching an Arrow rerun on TV, and the episode being shown was the season one recap - "Year One". I'm not complaining since it did what it was designed to do - bring a casual viewer like myself up to speed. I don't think it's bad; I'm only slightly disappointed that it wasn't presented more creatively.

So, my questions are:

1) What are the best three clip shows you've ever seen? Also, what are the worst three clip shows you've ever seen? The examples can be from anything - western shows, anime, etc.

2) Do you have any ideas on how to make a good clip show- one that brings the viewer up to speed while advancing the plot at the same time in a creative manner? An example I have in mind would be the one from Gundam 00 season one. It was framed as Alejandro and the Celestial Being guys reviewing the meisters' past achievements and considering whether to recognize the trinities. The episode ends with them deciding yes, and sets up the next one by having the Meisters getting ready to meet up with the trinities. What about you?

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

Not enough questions, eh? Let's see if I can help fix that. Do note that I'm 4 episodes behind, so sorry if you've already addressed some of this stuff.

1.) What do you think about the whole idea that happy heroes are uninteresting? That Spider-man has to sell his marriage to the devil because happily married Peter is boring? That Batman has to remain the paranoid loner, despite being surrounded by a league of trustworthy people who care about him, because a happy Batman is an uncool Batman? I'd actually respect Bruce more if he finally got over his parents' death, and I think heroes should be rewarded with a happy ending after all they've done for the world.

2.) Including this weekend, I'll have gone to the movies 4 weeks in a row (Godzilla, X-men, Godzilla again, and Edge of Tomorrow). I've actually been going to the movies a lot in the last year or so, but I have a friend who refuses to see any movies. He says he doesn't want to support Hollywood because their efforts to keep things out of the public domain are killing human culture (you don't even know the meaning!). Orphan works get lost because no one knows who owns them, and people can't freely make their own versions of things to pass along to the next generation. What are your thoughts on that?

3a.) Chris and Pedro, you are trapped in a room together and zombies are pounding at all the entrances. Both of you are bitten and it's only a matter of time before the hoard breaks in. There is only one gun, and it only has one bullet left in it. Do you use gun on self, or use gun on co-host?

3b.) Read this after answering the previous:
Spoiler
Moments after you make your decision, a large armed group arrives, kills all the zombies, and they have a working cure with them. How mad are you?
4.) You were pretty meh on Frozen, going so far as to say it was "destined to fade away," so how'd you feel when it became such a huge deal? Have you revisited the film and changed your mind on it? Or are you still refusing that flavour of Kool-Aid? Interestingly, you called it paint by numbers yet it's lauded for going against the Disney formula. I only saw the movie recently, and that's because the Blu Ray was always sold out whenever I went to Walmart.

5.) What are your favourite and least favourite stock subtitles? I'm getting a little tired of everything rising but I'm okay with "Age of" for now.

6.) If you could remove the need to perform one routine act of hygene (ie, your teeth would never get dirty so you don't need to brush them, or your nails stop growing so you don't need to cut them), what would you pick? I'd have my facial hair stop growing because shaving is a pain in the ass.

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

Hi, Guys!

I rewatched Gankutsuou recently; the series is awesome, nothing more needs to be said. I also re-listened to your episode after watching, and now have a few questions regarding the show.

1) In your episode, you commented positively on the classical music used in the series. I'd now like to ask what you think of the English opening and ending themes, "We Were lovers" and "You won't see me coming", both by Jean-Jacques Burnel? I think both are great and the definitive theme songs of the count in any incarnation.

2) In an even older episode-the blade runner ep- Pedro mentioned that Gankutsuou has BL, no doubt referring to Franz's strong feelings for Albert. What do you guys think of the interpretation that there's also BL between the Count and Albert? I've read stuff on TVtropes and other places that Albert has a "man-crush" on the Count, and that during recordings Fukuyama and Nakata treated their scenes as love scenes. I know that they're just rumors, and the vibes I've gotten from the show was that their relationship was more of a surrogate Father/Son relationship. It's not because of any homophobia - I don't have any problem with Franz's feelings for Albert; I just never got that impression between Albert and the Count. Also, Albert was genuinely heartbroken after the Count's machinations resulted in him losing Eugenie, which would hardly be the case if he liked the count in that way. What do you think?

Take care!

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

The Godfather Parts 1 and 2, Star Wars, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, 2001: A Space Odyssey...

Films that are widely regarded as the most culturally significant by the United States Congress, the AFI, critics, online pundits, and fans world wide. What films, that have been overwhelmingly praised, are you ashamed having not seen them yet?

Two that come to mind for me are Blade Runner and The Shawshank Redemption. Blade Runner was before my time and was never put in front of me and never attempted to seek it out, and Shawshank I avoid because for some strange and irrational reason I am turned off by Tim Robbins.

Hello eh?

I've been listening to your podcast out of order, all wibbley-wobbly, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment.

Did you mention the Stan Lee cameo in Amazing Spider-Man 2? Or did you decide to forgo in favour of erasing the memory of the movie from your minds?

Canadian Thunder Round! Do you prefer:
1) Roast beef with: Horseradish or Gravy
2) Cold tea or cold coffee
3) topical or oral medicine
4) killing your enemies and denying any knowledge they may have for you, or letting them live and risk probable re-offence
5) The feeling of sheets fresh from the dryer in the winter, or the smell of sheets dried in the sunny outdoors
6) to re-watch Amazing Spider-Man 2 or have a body-controlling parasite force its way down your throat

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

Hi, Guys!

1) I have to ask, has the post credits scene of Days of Future past resulted in any new "Anti-Hulk" moments?

2) In Fire emblem awakening, there's a part where two characters talk about how they're having a hard time adjusting from only killing Risen - Zombies - to killing living, breathing humans in battle. One character talks about how he cried the whole night after his first human kill. So, my question is: Do you know of any other works with characters going through similar dilemmas? If yes, how did they handle the dilemma? It doesn't have to be about Zombies; it can be any non-human enemy- animals, robots, etc. Please give at least one.

Take care!

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

1. What are some of the strangest, either funny or bad, video game commercials you've seen? I think the really bad kung fu movie (with BAD dubbing) for the 1st Tekken Tag was pretty weird although hilarious.

2. With the Arrow TV show being quite successful and giving birth to a FLASH TV show, do you guys think there is possibility for other DC properties to be made into a live action TV show in universe with Arrow and Flash?

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

Hi, Guys!

I've recently finished the walking dead. Below is a very quick runthrough of my experience, followed by some questions.

General: It really wouldn't hurt the game if Lee could at least walk faster. Most games today have the player moving fast, so I don't think it would harm the immersion.

Ep.1: Saved Duck and Carley. Loved the parking lot sequence. Great introduction to the game

Ep.2: I died over and over at the part with Brenda. Seeing Zombified Mark rip her to shreds was worth it. I helped Kill Larry and spared the brothers.

Ep.3: Lee shot Duck. Beating Kenny up was fun, but not enough to make him shoot his own son. So much happened that I didn't care when Ben admitted to stealing the drugs, even though it resulted in Carley's death. Lily took the RV. Meeting Omid and Christa really lifted my spirits after all that crap.

Ep.4: Clementine followed Lee to the river. Did that also happen to you? Kenny killed the zombie kid. Clem stayed and Protected Omid-good girl. Ben was an idiot, so Lee let him fall. I didn't feel satisfied, though. Kenny's declaration of eternal friendship was really touching.

Ep. 5: The Stranger can't face up to the fact that he's a crappy father, so he uses Lee as a scapegoat. Lee's taken better of Clem than the Stranger did for his son. The sequence before the hotel is Badass. I had Clem shoot Lee. Just as Kenny had to learn, so does she.

So, my questions are:

1) Were there any decisions you regretted? Any that made you feel relieved?
I regret sparing Danny. I initially killed him and felt horrified that Clem saw, though Lily seemed more cordial with Lee even though I helped kill Larry. When I went back and spared him for Clem's sake, Lily didn't like Lee. I can't help thinking that things might've been different in ep.3 if I had killed him.
I also regret wanting the walkie talkie back in ep. 5. Even though Kenny jumped for Christa, it was my sentimentality that made her get it. Kenny's declaration of eternal Friendship didn't help matters.
The decision that relieved me the most was saving Omid. I like both of them, so choosing Omid was really painful. His lashing out didn't help. Of course, Christa caught up, so I got what I wanted. I wish that the same had been possible for Doug and Carley. What about you?

2) Were there any times that you wish you could've taken a third option? As much of an dick the stranger is, I would've at least left them one box. Also, doesn't sparing the Brothers in ep.2 count as "I'm not gonna kill you, but I'm not gonna save you either?" What about you?

Looking forward to Season Two. As always, Take care!

Hey CT Casters.
Just one mailbag submission for this time.
So I just wanted to ask if either of you have played any of the Free Space series space combat simulator games, if yes what are your thoughts on them?

If not it's like a much better version of Wing Commander, but with lots of variety of fighter craft, missions, the stakes involved, weapons you can select, all that fun stuff.
Free Space 2 has a rather dark ending, I also loved some of the battleship designs.

That is all for now, From Mu.
