NEO GERMANY vs. NEO CHINA

- Baltimore, Maryland -

December 6th, FC 16

Late afternoon in the cold of winter-weather Baltimore. The crowds that had come to support either Neo Germany or Neo China were, combined, more than enough to outnumber the local Neo Americans who'd come to watch.

The arena was, like the previous urban arenas, three square miles of tall, abandoned structures. The edge of the three-square-mile perimeter was blocked off by a tall force field.

The announcer was quick to get on the mic. "Ladies and gentlemen," he gushed, "Welcome to what should promise to be a monumental fight! Both fighters scored victories in the first round and are thus undefeated. Tonight, however, only one will walk away still undefeated!

"From Neo Germany comes Dieter Mayers in the Gundam Effizienz, who won out over Neo Hong Kong's Gundam over in Yellowstone! His opponent will be Chase Lee in the Slayer Gundam, representing Neo China. Chase enjoyed a win in his match against Neo Trinidad and Tobago's Gundam in Hawaii last round.

"Who will successfully defend their undefeated streak? Who will walk away with their record marred? Let the contenders enter the combat area and we'll find out!"

--Baltimore, Maryland--

Chase was once again asleep. The newly completed Dragon Slayer Gundam was ready for the fight… but they always happen at a time when Chase was taking a nap. Was his lack of interest coming into play?

Garrick, fully aware of the situation, ordered for another mechanic to go with another shot below the belt. Minutes later, Chase groggily climbed into the Slayer Gundam and put on his Mobile Trace System, struggling to move the lower half of his body at the moment as he recovers from the sudden shock.

"That's what you get for sleeping on the job all the time!" Garrick joked as Chase closed the cockpit hatch.

Meanwhile, he went through the final checks on his upgraded Gundam. Garrick had planned for these parts to make their way to the finals, and Neo China’s government collaborated to develop the near flawless Dragon Armor addition to the Slayer. With additional power and defenses, the Dragon Slayer Gundam improved the qualities it had lacked before donning the armor. The only drawback would be a little more trouble with adapting to varied environment, but the armor could counter that with heavier defenses. And what’s more… the speed of the Gundam was not lost one bit.

“Thanks again for adding this thing to the Slayer, Garrick.” Chase says over the COM, “This thing really needed the boost.”

“No problem… now go out there and kick some ass.” Garrick says as he munches on his roast beef sandwich.

“Chase Lee… Neo China, ready to go.” Chase says, and his unit launched into the battlefield. Baltimore…

Skipping the theatrics, Chase takes flight with his Dragon Slayer Gundam’s improved sustained flight. He was ready. Now they all awaited the arrival of Neo Germany’s Gundam Fighter.

"I'm going to win... the undefeated streak will not end here..." he mutters to himself. He was surprisingly quite determined...

- Dieter Mayers - Neo Germany -

The zeppelin flight to Baltimore had been rather uneventful, as the Effizienz had taken very little damage in it’s first fight of the competition. Aiko had spent most of the trip in the lounge with the rest of the crew instead of fixing damaged components, but she finally found a bit of work as the team arrived in switching out the Effizienz’ hand weapons. Dieter entered the hangar in his mobile trace suit, closely followed by a stumbling Felica.

“Sshe said you’d wanna hearabout the Gundamschre... Gundamschre... rocket launcher there. I’ll be in the lounge,” Felica slurred before wobbling back towards the mini bar. “It looks powerful! I like it already,” Dieter said as he took in the heavy Gundamschreck that now occupied the Effizienz’ hands. “It is powerful. If you really don’t care about collateral damage, then the Gundamschreck is an excellent weapon,” Aiko replied as she climbed down to Dieter’s level.

A few minutes later, Dieter was in the cockpit and the Effizienz was ready to deploy. Dieter unceremoniously stepped out of the zeppelin and slowed his fall with the Gundam’s thrusters until he came to a comfortable stop near the center of the arena. “Remember what we went over. From an engineering standpoint, you can’t lose,” Aiko’s voice filled the cockpit. Dieter grunted and spat back, “It’s not engineers fighting down here,”. Before acknowledging the referee or announcing his readiness, he attempted to locate and target the Dragon Slayer. Since his opponent was flying, he soon had a nice visual. He put the Effizienz into a kneeling position and grumbled, “Gundam Fight!”.

"Readyyy... Go." Chase muttered as he continued to fly around. He noticed that the Effizienz Gundam had been carrying a bazooka. With the altitude he was at, along with the speed his Gundam possessed, he should be able to dodge the attacks quite easily. Add that to the urban environment, and a bazooka is quite unwieldly.

"Unless he purposely wants to destroy everything in his path... if Yellowstone was any indication." Chase thought to himself. He was going to need to watch himself here, as the Neo German Fighter's contrast in style may prove troublesome.

"A true fight of contrasting styles. Mid-ranged versus long-ranged. This will be interesting." he says, then aimed one of his hand beam guns at the Neo German Gundam. He fired a warning shot from his beam gun to signal that he was ready.

- Dieter Mayers - Neo Germany -

Dieter smiled as the warning shot hit the ground somewhere behind him. “Where I come from we do not fire warning shots,” he said, his voice amplified outward from the Gundam for the benefit of the crowd and the opponent. The Effizienz fired a rocket from the Gundamschreck up at the Dragon Slayer and quickly rose from it’s kneel to jog off into the concrete jungle of high-rises and skyscrapers. As the Gundam ran, its footfalls left spidery cracks in the asphalt.

Chase saw the bazooka round coming and dodged the attack. While he wasnt sure of the damage he would take from the attack, he'd rather not be hit at all. He then flew over the city following the Neo German fighter. He needed to watch the man's every move... seeing that the Effizienz was a destructive unit to its surroundings even without making attacks.

"If he keeps this up... the every battlefield he fights in wont last long..." Chase muttered to himself. He kept his focus on the fight ahead, firing occasional beams from his mounted beam weapons. He'll be in control of when he pulls out his Nagamaki...

- Dieter Mayers - Neo Germany -

Dieter didn’t watch the rocket as it went up, and assumed it had missed when he didn’t hear a satisfying explosion. The Effizienz quickly tracked the Dragon Slayer, since the enemy Gundam insisted on following Dieter from almost directly above him. He smiled as the computer followed the Chinese fighter, and smiled bigger when his opponent’s beam fire began raking the buildings surrounding the Effizienz. “Oh dear, looks like we’re in a free-fire zone. We might just have another Yellowstone on our hands!” he lamented in a mock appalled tone.

The exclamation point on his sentence was another rocket round, this one fired lazily upwards at Chase as he continued to follow Dieter.

He wasnt surprised when the Dieter decided to launch another rocket into the air. In fact, it was so lazily shot that it missed his Gundam completely.

"Great... what exactly is he doing?" Chase muttered, "He seems to be just want to waste time..."

With that, he stopped his pursuit, and also ceased hurling beams at the enemy unit. He needed another approach. One that the German wasnt expecting.

- Dieter Mayers - Neo Germany -

Now Dieter was getting impatient. "What's the deal? I fight for my life during the first rounds of the tournament and now the officials put me up against two timid losers in a row! Does nobody in the finals actually want to FIGHT?!" he raged, stopping suddenly. The Effizienz turned to look up at the Dragon Slayer, and Dieter hit his thrusters for all they were worth, sending the Neo German Gundam rocketing into the air to a similar altitude in a powerful jump. Once he was at nearly the same level as his opponent, the Effizienz fired its Gundamschreck again, this time carefully aimed while he hung in midair before gravity began pulling the Gundam back to earth.

"Lured him out... perfect..." Chase thought to himself as he dodged the bazooka round. He then pulls out his Beam Nagamaki and immediately rushes right at the falling German. Using his speed, he catches up and begins slashing rapidly at the unit, while also prepping for a little something extra.

"Timid loser...?" Chase says with a smile as he continues slash at the unit and the Gundamschrek fluidly and quickly. His skills with a saber was unmatched here.

- Dieter Mayers - Neo Germany -

When the enemy rushed him, Dieter had a brief moment to chuckle, "So you do know how to use your weapons! I'm impressed!" before he had to react. The Effizienz bended and turned, stooped, ducked and leaned its way around and through of the flurry of slashes, all the while maintaining a one-handed grip on the Gundamshreck's carrying handle. "I was beginning to think you Chinese don't actually know how to swing a blade or aim a gun," he continued as he bobbed and weaved while his Gundam finished its fall back to street level.

A last second flare of jets made the landing soft, and within the blink of an eye Dieter continued putting on the evasives clinic. "By the way, nice of you to get all point-blank for me," Dieter grinned wickedly. During one of the moves that had the Effizienz leaning back to allow a horizontal swipe from the nagamaki pass above, Dieter allowed the Gundamschreck to slide down in his grip until the hand slid to the firing handle. Firing the weapon one-handed would put strain on the arm, and such a close detonation would probably catch the Effizienz too, but this was a shot he couldn't pass up; a point blank rocket launch aimed for the Dragon Slayer's side. He just hoped the smallish backblast shield would prevent any severe damage.

"S***..." Chase muttered. Point blank, and right near the cockpit? "What a f***ing idiot... he's out to kill."

Chase didnt move. He couldnt. Dragon Slayer took the hit, and the round detonated right then an there, consuming both units in an explosion.

Chase remained conscious while the Dragon Slayer was knocked away and landed somewhere near the impact zone. He quickly surveyed the damage: the chunk of the Dragon Armor had been blown off. The darned thing did hold... albeit it got vaporized in the process.

"That's the effects on point blank range... I guess it can't get any worse..." Chase muttered before standing his Gundam up and taking flight again. He must avoid such hits from now on. The dust should clear soon...

To say that John Chapman was annoyed with the Neo German fighter was an understatement. After first being cut off in starting the match, Dieter then goes and aims a point blank shot right at his opponent's cockpit area.

"Or at least very close to it." John thought. Checking the long range sensors to determine the damage to the Dragon Slayer Gundam he found that the Neo China machine was intact and that the pilot was okay.

"Guess I can't DQ him then. However, the Gundam Fight committee will hear of this. I'm not letting him get away with that shot."

Chase quickly caught sight of the Effizienz once again. It wasnt before long though that he targetted the Neo German Gundam and rushed right at the enemy again. This time, he wasnt gonna be caught with that bazooka.

"Not on my watch..." Chase says as he pulls out a beam saber to compliment his Nagamaki. Once he reached a good distance, he began attacking with rapid and fluid succession. But one thing he kept in mind was that bazooka... he had an urge to wreck that thing...

"Take this..." he muttered as he slashed at the Effizienz's head with the Nagamaki, while he also sent his beam saber right at the Gundamschrek with a quick slash...

- Dieter Mayers - Neo Germany -

Dieter’s eyes opened and he found himself on his back. The concussion from the rocket explosion must have knocked him out for a second or two, but he quickly moved to get the Effizienz to its feet. One look at a status screen told him there was no severe damage to his Gundam, but he found it difficult to move its left arm. That’s when Dieter looked over at the Gundamschreck and let loose a string of curses. The rocket launcher had absorbed a great deal of the blast, and the front end was mangled and useless. The small backblast guard had been totally bent and burned away, and the barrel itself was dented and partially melted.

Dieter looked up in time to see the Dragon Slayer coming at him, and he held the broken Gundamschreck in between himself and the oncoming opponent. “Hope you don’t hit any unexploded ammo...” Dieter hissed as he allowed Chase’s slashes to cut the weapon to ribbons. In the course of dealing with Chase’s renewed attack, Dieter was forced to take a step back with his right foot.

“HnAAAAAAGH!” Dieter howled. His eye darted back to the status screen, but he didn’t need it to tell him something was wrong with the leg. Upon taking another look, he noticed a crack running across the Effizienz’ right calf, and that the ankle was bent at an unnatural angle. What a perfect time for the mobile trace to send such natural feedback.

Ignoring the pain and unstable footing for the moment, Dieter shoved the Gundamschreck wreckage at the Dragon Slayer and pulled his Teutonic sword. While he had a tiny opening, he stabbed straight for the enemy’s head and neck area.

Chase tore through the bazooka and noticed a sword coming at him. Without thinking, and acting on instinct, he went to parry the attack with his beam saber, locking it with the incoming sword.

"Now take the head!!!" Chase thought as he swings his Nagamaki at the Effizienz's head again. He wanted the quick win... and taking out this dork of a German Fighter was only going to satisfy his taste a tiny bit...

- Dieter Mayers - Neo Germany -

Dieter was beginning to get angry. Not only was he getting constant pain feedback from his Gundam's lower right leg, but this Chinaman had to go and ruin his masterstroke. With a dropping Freude level, Dieter raised his sword and parried the nagamaki upward over his head. As the enemy's weapon skidded off his blade, he turned his sword and made a hack at the Dragon Slayer's side.

Chase's attack was blocked, but he came prepared. With the Effizienz's sword aimed at his side, that left both of his weapons open to attack Dieter. The sword hit the Dragon Armor, to no effect on Chase yet...

"NOW!" he muttered as he swung his Nagamaki and beam saber in a scissor move at the Effizeinz's head. He then felt a pain on his side... the armor had been pierced...

Chase's scissor attack would have been perfect if it weren't for Dieter's quick reac--

Well, to be honest, the Effizienz' ankle gave out and the Gundam crumpled to its bad knee, sparing the head from the Dragon Slayer's blades. Dieter didn't even have time to recognize his near-loss, as he was spitting curses and trying not to yell his head off at the renewed source of pain. From his kneeling position, he reached across the Effizienz' body with his left hand, drew the trench knife, and made a stab for the Dragon Slayer's face.

"Dammit... not going down yet..." he muttered. He brought his beam saber back to parry the incoming knife, and he proceeded to fire his machine cannons at the Effizienz's face.

Not hesitating to see if his attacks hit, he went for a slash with his Nagamaki at both of the Effizeinz's arm, using his technique to perform a flowing, wavelike motion to attack both arms and possibly disable his opponent even more...
