-Reimi-

She heard a knock on the door, and managed to pull a cover over her body before responding.

"Yeah, I'm awake."

-Zangetsu-

He opened the door and walked in. "Hey how are you feeling today? Hopefully a bit better since last I saw you." Zangetsu said as he pulled a chair up next to the bed.

After seeing her blush he did so as well. "Well..Um...That is good." 'Great, I sound like a moron.' "Um, would you mind if I asked you about where you came from? Maybe I ask a question about you and you ask one about me?" 'Sheeeeesh! How idiodic can I sound? What is it about her that has me so nervious?' Zangetsu said as he started to figit.

"Oohh, toche. Well had nice parents, they always tried to look out for me, also had a younger brother and sister, they would both drive me crazy. Girlfriends is a bit difficult to say. Meet plenty of girls who were friends but I never meet any that wanted more than that." Then Zangetsu replied with his own question. "Okay, my turn. Sorry if it is complicated, but who was it who helpped you get here? You don't have to answer, I can just ask another question if you would rather."

"Oh... Edge..." she then turned her gaze to the table where her clothes were, and checked them, but didn't find her PDA among them.

"Hey... my PDA isn't here."

Re: Chapter 21: Waves of Sorrow [Earth]

-Wedge Fifteen-

Wedge was sitting in the pilots lounge with a few of his peers watching the broadcast much like everyone else. The camera panned the crowd, amongst the crowd was Wedge Fourteen. Wedge Fifteen didn't even notice he was too enticed by the voluptuous curves of a random fandom soldier.

"HOLY HEAVEN ALL MIGHTY! Did you see those things?" He yelled pointing at the tv, the girl already long gone.

-Wedge Fourteen-

Wedge screamed a long with the crowd, tears forming in his artificial eyes as he hollered along. People like Garmin Aelfhere and Victious Sterling were rather mysterious but they both frothed with charisma. Getting sucked into their passion and energy was a bit too easy. If great people like the Red Eagle and Zero were willing to die for these men,so was he...

-Garmin Aelfhere-

The great general left the stage as the chant began, he entered the crowd shaking hands and acknowledging any soldier he came across.

It was then Zangetsu remembered. "OH! Sorry, you asked me to get it for you and I didn't even give it to you earlier." He said as he quickly pulled the PDA out of his pocket. "Here we go. Is this it?" he asked as he presented it to her.

Re: Chapter 21: Waves of Sorrow [Earth]

-Nena Trinity- (???)-

Nena was sitting in front of a data-terminal, her eyes gleaming as she watched the funeral on her monitor. This was really something, she had figured this was the case but to actually see the orders... Victious speech really did seem to strike a cord with the regular Fandom soldier as they started cheering loudly. Nena covered her mouth to stop herself from giggling.

-Johann Trinity- (Base Gym)-

As Nowe was lifting weights he would notice a shadow suddenly leaning over him. Placing a hand on the barbell that Nowe was using, Johann gave him an unreadable look. Not showing up for the debriefing was in itself bad, but there was something that bothered the Trinity sibling even more. This guy had lied to him. "You didn't show up yesterday..."

When she saw Zangetsu hold out the PDA, she took it with her face blushing a deep red...

"Y-You didn't read anything on here, did you?"

While she was waiting for a response, she turned it on and began looking for Edge's profile.

"No, I didn't look at all. Promise!" He said as he motioned a cross over his heart. "I respect other peoples' stuff like my own. I know I wouldn't want people snooping on my PDA."

Re: Chapter 21: Waves of Sorrow [Earth]

-Nowe-

He could almost smell the distaste in the air before it approached him causing Nowe to pull away quickly letting the barbell hit the ground as the taller guy touched it. The Trinity would find a pair of empty silver eyes staring back at him as Nowe seemed to know what this was about before the talking even began.

"Yeah and neither did Wedge either. You have a concern?" He felt defensive as the hair on his arms stood up and he fell back into a protective stance. He honestly thought a fight was about to erupt and despite not in the mood to duel he would beat the snot out of anyone that touched him. "Shouldn't cause my appearance didn't make a difference what so ever." He finished the question by answering it himself. He didn't want to deal with this guy and wanted to just walk away and go somewhere quiet where he could train.

Re: Chapter 21: Waves of Sorrow [Earth]

--Gundam Team ver. Awesome--

--Fafnir--

Right after the Federation general called on the Federation forces battling to basically pull out and retreat, Fafnir and its pilots were quick to respond and came running away from the clutchres of the increasingly volatile tactics of the Fandom forces. A number of Gundams were terribly damaged. The Akatsuki had chips in almost every protrusion on its body, the Ex-S Gundam had its I-field emitter disabled and one can see right through the gaping hole in the cockpit. The Strike E Gundam was particularly bad; the pack is all but gone, and was coasting under its own power with only two arms and a torso, both legs sheared off from attacks. Rachel's Airmaster was the only serviceable unit, as it was still a threatening force with only two bits on its side. Rachel herself had picked up the crashing Strike E which couldn't fly with main thrusters alone.

The Fafnir itself has massive damage, so there it is, escorted by new OverFlags, limping towards California where it's going to get repairs, as well as the mobile suits it's housing.

--Rachel, Taylor, Santi--

"We've failed, sir," Taylor says, almost with some emotion at the monitor, where the general sits on the other side. Rachel sits idly across Taylor, seemingly not interested with the overall mission.

Santi replies, and he did not look a bit worried. "I shall consider your last sortie a partial success." Rachel looks up, Taylor blinks. "What?"

"You didn't expect two ships and a handful of Overflags will down their manufacturing capabilities so easily, did you?" With Juan Santi's comment, Taylor stops and thinks, and he was right. The Lohengrin scored a nasty hit in the heart of the base, and while the Overflag squadron did very little, it was apparently enough. "Yes," Santi continues, "We have all seen what Fandom will do when they're backs are on the wall like this. This is also the first time we've had a strike at the very middle of Fandom's Earth operations. Mind you, at this very moment the Divine Crusaders are pummeling the Fandom, it seems that our forces and theirs are taking turns."

Rachel stops and thinks for a bit---she felt the zealousness of a lot of soldiers dying for Fandom's cause.

"Consider the last battle as a gauge of Fandom's defenses, Major Reese," Santi says.

"..Yes, sir."

With that the communication dies down, and soon Taylor looks at Rachel with a disapproving look on her face. She immediately calls the younger major out, "So you think you're some sort of badass out there trying to jump into battle fighting with one hand, eh?"

"Hey now!" Rachel, taken aback for a bit, goes into the defensive, "It's not like I tried to create chaos like I always do!"

"Then how do you explain your badly damaged bits?"

"They saw me and they piled on me."

"And somehow you didn't think they'd do that?"

"Well..." Rachel was going to lose this battle. She was stopped by Lauren already, but she launched anyways, and she's not going to admit it out loud, but she wanted to fight, badly. She wanted to help out, even if she was annoyed at her reduced response time. "I just wanted to do what I can. I can take care of myself and my bits in battle, Taylor, even with one hand."

Taylor did not look at the battle reports in detail, but she does know that she was crucial to Slug and Johann's battles. She just slumps, because in Rachel's defense she did do alot of things other than direct damage. Instead of pushing and venting her frustration at Rachel's apparent recklessness, she simply asks, "How's the arm, then?"

Rachel replies, "It's fine. It's healed, I think. I want it off, like, right now."

"Ah." Some awkward silence later, Taylor finally says," I just don't want it... getting worse, you know? I'll go check on the ship's status." Taylor takes her leave.

--Slug and Johann, next day--

"Really?" Slug seemed surprised. "It's not even that bad..."

"It's totalled, dude. I don't think I can hang with you guys, I've fallen behind with the tricks of the trade. Taylor's bad enough that she tells me every single thing I need to do, she even tosses me in front of projectiles!" Johann says. He was sitting pretty chill, for a guy who wants to all but give up on piloting again.

"You did jump at that GN-missile-toting Gundam."

"Because Taylor told me to."

"Well, tell her that you can't hold your own like that just yet."

"I don't know." Johann looks at the mess that once resembled a loaded-to-the-teeth Strike E. "I guess I can play support..."

Meanwhile, they never realized that the TV was on, and something of interest was on. A Fandom world broadcast, to be exact. Wedge was there, watching intently, with random outbursts, pointing at the TV. "What's this all about?" Slug says. As if on cue, Rachel Anne pops out in the lounge, and seems to have woken up, but somehow knew about the broadcast anyways. Eventually, Taylor trickles in as they watch a rallying cheer from the misguided souls in Hawaii.

" 'Red Eagle'? Don't tell me..." Rachel says, as she clearly saw a pinkish-red unit facing off Slug's Ex-S---and some of its residuals on the Ex-S as it boarded the Fafnir after the battle. At this moment, Johann and Taylor glances at Slug. "You... killed a... high ranking... Fandom official?" Rachel points her finger at Slug, with a look as if she's just been one-upped. It soon becomes clear, as the eulogy clearly shows that same Tallgeese Slug was facing off earlier. "Wot?" Slug was surprised himself.

Taylor pushes and readjusts her glasses, "Yes, I remember that guy, it seems like he's been playing less and less of a role as of late, but he was leading a sizeable amount of units in Tokyo when they attempted an invasion." Johann grabs Slug's shoulders and yells, "Good Job Sluggerboy! Looks like you're this ship's most wanted now! Top Ace! All hail Sidewinder, right! Ha-hah, that's mah boy!"

Taylor is pleased, but Rachel seems less so. She pouts in a corner. Slug immediately notices this, and he knows the whole truth. "Hey hey guys... I didn't manhandle the poor bastard all by myself...err, Rachel helps out! She got me my smartgun back!" Rachel looks up, and her pouting turned into some blushing, like the easily-flattered individual that she is.

Johann couldn't hold back--- "OH. Ohoh. Ohohoho. The childhood 'friends' tag-teaming it up then! Oho. Ohohohoh!" Johann says and laughs with that annoying fake-french-like 'ohohoho' laugh, as if conveying some subtle, clever message. At this point Rachel was a darker shade of red now, and excuses herself rather bluntly. "I'm going for a bit," she says, hastily walking away from the lounge.

Slug's also a bit embarrassed, although less obvious. It was a bit of an awkward moment after all, and Johann amplifying the situation didn't help at all. Taylor, however, was quick to dismiss the screwball teasing antics and was watching the funeral intently. "So who's this guy?" Johann asks. Taylor explains, "Zero, also some stud in the Fandom hierarchy. He got killed by DC, apparently, right after the Red Eagle."

"Ouch. 'Red Eagle'? 'Zero'? Creative bunch aren't they?"

-----

The ship was now in United States airspace, and was preparing to land in the Mojave Desert, where it would find a good-sized crew to repair the damaged machines and give upgrades.

Re: Chapter 21: Waves of Sorrow [Earth]

- Elya -

When the door to Elya's room opened again, Elya turned expecting to see Masamune enter back in, which was why she was surprised to see not Masamune but somebody else. There, resting one arm against the door frame, was the other man that had come to her room before -- the one that went by the name of Strike Zero. The cheerful look that Elya had held quickly transitioned to one of disquiet as she saw the expression Strike wore on his own face -- a hard, level glower that seemed to pave a path of ice cross the room.

He raised one hand up in a curt greeting. "Yo."

"Oh... h-hello..."

Silence was all that could be heard from that point on. As Strike stood, unmoving, boring his eyes into Elya's tiny form, the young girl began to fidget and glance about. More and more, a feeling of anxiousness rose in the pit of her stomach. Anxiousness... and fear. Quickly, everything Masamune had said, everything he had revealed to her came rushing back. Of all the people that had cared for Xing Xiu, this man, Strike, was supposed to be the one who had done cared the most.

And Elya was the one who had killed her...

The former-Knight's fear must have shown itself on her face because there was also a reaction from Strike. His features relaxed. He closed his eyes and blew out a low sigh between his lips.

"You scared of me?"

Elya bit her lip.

"Um... w-well..."

Another silence filled the room.

"Well..." Strike continued, his tone soft. "I'm not going to tell you that you shouldn't be..."

He slid his arm off the door and slipped his hands into his jacket pockets, taking a few steps to the left.

"I don't buy it, you know? All that crap Masamune was spouting off. Those things he said about you."

He paused, then rested his back against one of the windows that surrounded the room, closing his eyes.

"No... disregard that. It's not that I don't buy it. I just can't bring myself to care. Just because you're a nice girl at heart, I'm just supposed to accept you? No. You stole somebody important to me, to us, and there's no way for you to ever bring her back. Masamune may think that you're worth something... worth protecting... but I don't believe it. Everything... everything you've done..."

His gaze snapped open to look upon Elya.

"There's no way I can bring myself to forgive you for it. Not here... not now at any rate."

Elya lowered her gaze to the floor. She couldn't think of anything to say. Despite Strike's coldness... she detected something else there along with it. It was pain. A strong pain... a sadness underlying his words... and it made her sad in return. She felt like she wanted to apologize. To tell Strike she was sorry. That she hadn't really meant to do it. That she wished she could take it all back and make things different somehow too. But she couldn't find the words. No apology she could possibly muster would even come close to being enough.

"I..."

But even so, with her wispy voice chipping at its edges, tears beading at the corners of her sapphire eyes...

"I... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

Strike gazed long and hard at the now-shuddering girl, his brow twisted into a deep frown. Then he closed his eyes once again.

"But, you know..."

Elya looked up, eyes shimmering.

"I realized that nothing could get better from continuing like this..."

Strike opened his eyes and gazed at Elya steadily.

"I asked you to prove yourself... but for that to happen, a chance has to be given... otherwise, people end up just sit around on their rears while they wait for someone else to change his mind."

"I'll admit that I'm weak. After Xiu died, all I could do was drown everything out. It was all I could do to keep my grief from driving me mad; there was no way for me to face you then. While Masamune... that cocky bastard was at your side the entire time, battling with his grief head-on, face first. And in doing that..."

A thick silence.

"I hate you, Elya. I really do. And I couldn't tell you if that's ever going to change. But what I want... what I really want is for that to happen. If it doesn't... I'll probably just end up dragging myself along for the ride until my death... and what would Xiu say to that? Therefore...

Strike pushed himself away from the wall and took two step forward, but Elya didn't recoil as she had before.

"I'll stay by your side as well, Elya. I'll stay here while you show me the real you, the one that Masamune has vouched for, and maybe... I'll be able to see what it was that he saw in you too."

There was a long moment as Elya took it all in. But then, eventually, she nodded in return.

"I'm... not even sure what the 'real me' could be."

Then... she smiled.

"But... I know that I want to find out more than anything."

And the two former combatants gazed long and hard at one another, seeing, hearing, and perhaps understanding each others spirits for the first time since the advent of their meeting. It was only a single moment of subtle achievement... but perhaps it would not be the last.

Re: Chapter 21: Waves of Sorrow [Earth]

-Masamune and Morpheus-

It was at that moment that the door behind Strike swung open again with a surprised, almost violent air --- and a bewildered-looking Date Masamune simply gawked uneasily at him as the boy quickly made his way around Strike with a sidestep, moving between him and Elya. Masamune's eye narrowed readily, trying to anticipate what the heck Strike was doing here, and what he was up to; While he was not in a fighting mood nor in any readiness to actually fight --- Masamune was holding a can of soda in his left hand --- at least, Masamune sighed, he brought his weapons with him this time. What exactly did Strike want aside from the very obvious, Masamune wondered?

With a concerned backwards glance at Elya, Masamune could only hope that Strike hadn't done anything to her --- and that he wasn't too late to stop it if Strike had. "Strike," Masamune simply said with a low, forcibly restrained voice, noting Strike's lack of bitterness and anger --- for once --- quickly. If this was going to degenerate into a shootout, imbecile, Masamune frowned inwardly, I'm not going to be the one to start it. "What brings you here at this hour of day?"

Then Masamune was stopped in his tracks as a hand gently placed itself onto Strike's shoulder and softly pushed him a little aside.

"Calm down, Masamune." Morpheus ordered, stepping past Strike and nodding to Elya once in greeting; Masamune's posture still didn't ease even at first at the order, and it was only when Morpheus was standing next to Elya's bed that Masamune finally sighed and relaxed, turning around to hand Elya the can of soda with a quickly recomposed smile and a shrug. ("Here you go, Elya," Masamune whispered quietly, "Sorry to take so long.") As Morpheus glanced sideways and noted the remains of the stone bowl --- and smiled knowingly (causing Masamune to very discreetly sweatdrop), he then turned to Strike with an even, inviting expression. "I was about to ask Elya a few questions about the Dark Star Knights, Strike Zero, if she's ready to answer them. Do you wish to stay here and listen in?"
Don't throw the baton, you jacka**!!!
