Greetings,
I'm looking for some design examples of World War 2 style mechs; either anime, conceptual drawings or photos of scratchbuilds.
So if you have any links post them here.
Cheers, LK

WW2 Mecha? Anyone have any examples?
Among other things, you might want to Google for designs from Dream Pod 9's Gear Krieg alternate history game setting.

Well, there is Kishin Heidan (a.k.a Geo-armour), although since it predates dvd, data on it is a little hard to get hold of. I wish I could have brought it when it came out on vhs, but I was young.

Well I'm not exactly sure if this game would be appropriate enough for the topic at hand, but the game Ring of Red has some mecha designs that you might find interesting and useful.

Kishin Heidan was one of my first sci-fi anime before Tekkaman and Galxy Express 1999. The WW2 technology, the Mech(White Knight Panzer's my favorite) and the whole Nazi/Alien plot was just awesome not to mention the dark tone the serie took.Ork_dreadnought wrote:Well, there is Kishin Heidan (a.k.a Geo-armour), although since it predates dvd, data on it is a little hard to get hold of. I heard some rumors that the serie might be remastered and put on dvd's with extended scenes and maybe additional episodes since the plot was not entirely explained.

And if I'm not mistaken a lot of the weapons mounted on the AFWs in that game are WW2 era, for example I'm sure I remember the main character's AFW mounting the main gun off a Tiger.Sabersonic wrote:Well I'm not exactly sure if this game would be appropriate enough for the topic at hand, but the game Ring of Red has some mecha designs that you might find interesting and useful.

It is from a Tiger yea plus look at the infantry they use I think what looks like M1 grand rifles and the other ground forces have other older weapons like the Lugger but I think the AFW is the closest thing to a real life mech on a battlefield also does anyone know what gun the Supply officers use that can shoot RPG's?

Kishin Heidan is available in the US on DVD under the name Alien Defender Geo-Armor: Kishin Corps. You can buy it online here, as well as from many other online DVD sellers.Nagato21 wrote:Kishin Heidan was one of my first sci-fi anime before Tekkaman and Galxy Express 1999. Wow - I have been blown away from the examples provided by this thread. Thanks for the effort. I particularly love the Gear Kreig stuff - Stunning ideas there.
I appreciate the posts.
Found this on the way and thought that it was rather cool...

Kerberos Panzer Cops from the anime Jin-Roh. Not really mecha- but rather heavily armoured soldiers. Designed with inspiration from the Nazi German Stahlhelm and MG42 machine gun.

DYBBUK!
Someone just pointed out to me this very impressive short animation that fits the discussion topic.
