“Dokken! Krokus! Move in to fire at the main stream of MS, let off a sharp burst and then turn away. Roll over, spin ‘round and come in behind them - move to their blindsides and fire in again.”

“Yes, sir,” a duo of female voices responded. Three sleek blue mobile suits in a delta formation whizzed past Taskforce Juliet’s Recife as it was blown in half. “Sir, the Recife!” Dokken said in surprise, “It was a new ship…”.

“Don't know what you got till it's gone.”

A Nemo that strayed too close to them was reduced to debris by a quick beam saber slash. Krokus’ face appeared in their team leader’s HUD and she said, “Sir, maybe we should stay closer to the Latium. Capt. Kay said this was only a test flight, and we’re supposed to--”

“No, I don’t ask for permission. This is my chance to fly. Maybe enough ain’t enough for you but it’s my turn to try.”

Rem was running a little slow, still trying to recover from his marathon work mission. He had to try to get his normal suit on about 4 times before he found the strap that was adjusted wrong. He finally came floating over to the Doctor, still adjusting his gloves. "The tactics for attacking the Gate of Zedan are well thought out, I'm sure, Doctor." He slightly stressed the current name of the rock, hopefully the rest of the mostly former-Federal crew wouldn't notice the slip. "The new data aggregators are running in parallel to the old ones, so hopefully we'll get data on both the suit performance as well as on the performance of the aggregators themselves." He leaned over Dr. M's shoulder to see what the doctor was looking at.

Clute seemed to be out of it. It took several tries to raise him on the radio and Jacob knew the Minovski interference wasn't that bad, yet. Maybe the veteran was as shaken up by the scope of the battle as he was. That thought brought no comfort to Jacob, but he knew that he couldn't falter. They were all doomed if they didn't stand together.

He moved in behind the rest of his team, searching out targets. His eyes focused where Burke fired and he picked a target out of the cluster of Mobile suits. It took a moment for him to get the targeting reticule to settle properly and then he pulled the trigger, sending a 240mm round at Miller's Marasai. His Rick Dias rocked back, the reticule bouncing and jumping for an instant before the computer compensated and he fired again.

Djorn's hopes were slightly dashed when the Captain denied them permission to buzz the enemy mobile suits. Given how hot the battle was someone was sure to shoot at them and that was just the excuse...reason they needed to fire back. He'd truly hoped that Matthew's request would be approved. And he was a little surprised that the man had suggested it in the first place. He'd questioned just how dedicated to the cause the man was, but clearly, he was just as ready to fight as any of them.

Still, getting a little closer just made it more likely they'd be caught up in the battle so, with slight taps of his control sticks he eased forward until he was even with one of their dummy asteroids. If he was lucky, some stray fire would come near.
Yep...That's Texas in a nutshell. Why just say "f**k you" when you can put it on a flag?

--Team 2--

Once Team 2 followed him out, Wes quickly accelerated towards the battle up ahead. When within firing range, he sprayed missiles at the Titans formations to take out some unlucky HiZack with a missile straight into the torso. Wes didn't check to see if the others hit anything; he was too busy grinning at the bright light that followed his attack. Before he could rush in with a second wave he was rudely interrupted by Echo's Alpha team and their trio of beams.

Wes growled when alarms warned him of the incoming shots. He quickly rolled past them and caught a glimpse of the Marasai as it rushed past his Rick Dias. There was the custom marking on that shoulder that Wes had seen too many times before. Curren had actually lost count of how many times he's fought Stukov since they first battled on Earth.

"It's that guy," Curren managed to grunt out before switching directions and gunning after Stukov. The acceleration was definitely different from what he was used to, but the extra speed wasn't a bad thing. It helped close the gap between him with the Russian. Wes gave a quick two-shot burst from his beam rifle aimed at Stukov and fired a second spray from his missile launchers. He wasn't going to let this Titan off as easily as last time.

"What's the game plan, sir?" Bernard's rather monotone voice amplified through the speaker. Not a moment too soon, Adam arrived and proclaimed merrily, “Holy crap, huh,". Randy took notice of the looming gigantic rock once called A Baoa Qu. He got his own memory somewhere lost in the other side of that rock. Memories he didn’t really want to remember. At that moment, Al the last member of their team took off from the hangar.

Randy opened up his thrusters and gave a hand signal for other to follow. “Kay, listen up. We, along with the other 4th MS teams are going to hit as many Titans as we can and hold the ‘space’ supremacy until the AEUG main fleet or the Argama completed their mission . I’ve transmitted the nav points for today,” He saw the zoomed vision of the Gate of Zedan through his right screen, “Boy, this going to be a long day. Expect to R&R so don’t too tight on your bullet count. Just stay together and hit them hard.”

Just when he ended his little speech his console already warned him of hostile (Delta). “This close?” Randy though for a moment and noticed a peculiar unknown MS fighting New Yark’s Nemo. “Do you saw that ugly thing?"

"Can't be good when they're fighting our own," Al replied first after taking a good view of Picard's Barzam. "Say how bout-"

Randy interrupted the line, saying “Let’s take them out!”

“Captain!” Someone on the lookout spotted their Nemo Team being engaged. Karl pointed out a finger to Christopher his XO to assume control for a moment. He pressed his phone receiver a little bit deeper to make up for the chaotic situation in his bridge. “-Keaton, it appears our only viable option at the moment is taking up a defensive position. We’re not likely to do much damage at this range with Minovsky levels this high,”.

“I understand.” Karl gave quick salute and turned off the communication. He saw the MS threat on his little screen and slammed the chair with his right fist to gather attention. “Tell Lt Folk he's free to engage or abort the attack. Thomas, keep our big guns firing on that rock! I want a defensive fire ready on those Titans MS. And please somebody work out a firing solution on that Alexandria! We need to be ready!”

Opening his thrusters to follow the team leader, Adam fell into a formation behind and between Randy and Al.

“Do you saw that ugly thing?" came Emington over the radio. It took Adam a moment to detect the Titans Mobile Suits already engaged with the Nemos from the New Yark, showing up as an disconcerting 'Unknown' on his computers.

"Can't be good when they're fighting our own," Al replied first. Adam was inclined to agree. "Say how bout-"

Al thought was interrupted by Randy, saying “Let’s take them out!” In response, Adam gunned the thrusters for a second, picking up speed and moving toward the developing melee.

"Roger that, I'll take point. Remember to cover me." As he moved closer to Delta Team's Barzams, Adam moved the shield to cover his Nemo's body and took careful aim and fired twice with his beam rifle at Cara Shiranui's dark-coloured Mobile Suit.

Gamma Team-

Nick's first clue that something was amiss was that it was faster than a normal Dias, the next was the storm of missiles raining down on their position from the suit, and he seamed to be right in the way of them.
"Fuck, Incoming!" he yelled surprised at the new armaments. He boosted at an angle upwards and back, firing the vulcans at the spread.
His vision obscured somewhat from the detonations he missed one but corrected just in time for it to strike the top of his shield and took a good chunk of it with it.
Assured that he was still in one piece but pissed for being so out of it even with such a nasty surprise as the B equipment, he jammed the throttle and launched out of the smoke at Burke, firing his rifle twice at him and drawing his saber, but keeping it unignited.

Buxoro Team-

Ens. August's beam winged a Nemo's shoulder but as it brought it rifle to bear on him, Lt. Robin finished it with two rounds to the lower chest and waist while flying in loose formation.
"Nice shot sir," Tyler intoned in thanks. "but it looks like Delta could use some back up." and Highlighted the Hamburg team moving to attack Delta in tandem with New Yark.
"Very well," agreed Elijah not exactly relishing in the prospect of saving his mad, former CO."Mark your Targets and back up Delta, but fall back if overwhelmed." his voice static-y even in formation to Tyler.

August targeted Bernard and fired twice, trying to split the teams attention while Robin took an aimed shot at Al, trying to lead the Nemo.

Folk's keen eye watched as Week's beam attack fired toward Rick's Nemo. "Rick, up ahead!" He shouted while trying to take aim on Weeks' unit. By chances or just plain luck, he spotted Court's unit that attacked Terrace. Folk reacted quickly, changed his target and fired thrice at Court's position.

"Roger that, I'll take point. Remember to cover me." Randy grinned hearing Adam's quick response. He followed closely and tried to take aim. Precisely one second after Adam fired twice at the Barzam, his warning signs danced again.

"What where?" Randy franticly gazed around trying to see the incoming. Al's voice crackled through the channel, "Bogeys. INCOMING!" and shots from above lanced somewhere behind. Randy didn't have time to look around or change target, so he gritted his teeth and fired twice at Picard. His Nemo's direction nailed dead on toward Picard's Barzam.

Al dodged the attack but was forced to lose his speed. He wasn't sure what to do since he was outnumbered by the Buxoro. Al put himself close to Bernard's unit, readied himself to fend of the attacker while waiting for Bernard to beat the hell out of them.

“I’ll show them what a real man can do in a Barzam,”. Picard responded “There. We’ll start by taking these jokers out,”

As Picard raced ahead, Kyle tried to open a line to Cara before the action started and the M-particles got too heavy. He knew the situation was bleak with both Axis and Aeug attacking and no back-up. It can be overwhelming for the young ensign, enough for her to make a foolish mistake.

"Ens. Shiranui. I'm not sure what the outcome of this battle will be, but it doesn't look good but....this cause is NOT worth dying for. Keep an eye on the fleet and follow their lead. But remember there's no shame in surrendering. Just--"

Before Roberts could finish his speech red indicator lights lit the cockpit, warning of an incoming round. Instinctively Roberts maneuvered the high performance suit to evade the round by using his right thruster to boost right. Unsure which unit fired that round, Roberts made his charge at full speed. Firing twice at Mello and turning his attention toward Tanner with 3 shots.

While following Lt. Te’Litha, Jason's Marasai made contact with Miller's Marasai to establish a direct comm line.

"Look Patrick, The nut-case is probably gonna watch his own back so if we take care of each other we might make it out ok. This is the biggest operation we've had so far....Just take care."

Jason's attention focused on the HUD which detected enemy fire. "ZOINKS, Incoming!" Lt. Te’Litha yelled.

The threat display lit up with another warning coming from a different direction. "They're all over us!" Jason gasped. Fortunately one of Burke's missiles took out the explosive round, which is designed to detonate on impact wiping out a few more missiles.

"Move it 'Tard!" Jason barked.

Jason kicked away from Miller sending Miller's Marasai to the side, away from Jacob's round. Jason's Marasai jetted forward and broke to the left avoiding a missile, firing 3 shots at the center of Burke's Dias as he rolled below him. Burke being the closest enemy, Jason decided to help Nick eliminate this threat before dealing with the others.

"Apparently they're not used to fighting as a team since they're all piling on." Jason laughed.

"nuts in a case?" the big oaf wondered.

Miller oriented his suit and rocketed in Jacob's direction. Pulling out a beam saber, facts from the dark recesses lost parts of his mind started to surge. -high explosive rounds have one major drawback: a massive increase in weapon overheating.

Jacob wasn't too surprised that his first shots missed. It would have been extraordinarily lucky if he'd managed to take someone out so early in the battle. At least he got their attention, though and was getting accustomed to the new load out on his suit.

He saw Miller ignite a beam saber and come towards him, but didn't move to engage. He trusted that Burke or Angelina or even Tideland would move to intercept him. Their suits were all more suited to close combat than his, now. Instead, he drew a bead on Drossel as he moved to attack Burke. The tiger striped suit was attacking their fast attack team member, too and Jacob figured that Burke could use a little help.

Two more shells go hurtling through the void as he pulls the trigger in rapid succession after getting a lock on the Marasai.

Rick Archer

The first shot fired at him, a beam Rifle from a Hizack, was easily visible; Rick didn't need the reminder which came in fairly garbled and almost too late despite the limited distance. With a deft and efficient maneuver Rick pulled aside as the rifle beam slid past. He raised his own rifle and retaliated aiming for Weeks' torso. Rick also began to close using an elaborate spiral pastern, He was aware that hiZacks with Rifles bore only Axes as close range weapons

Kenneth Graden

MS battles were now visible in several places and Kenneth watched them carefully trying to learn what he could of how Lady Haman's enemies fought. Then Ens. Pan burst ahead with Jim following slightly behind. The Titans had struck at them first and missed. They lost their chance. Jim smirked calmly. These guys aren't going to be ready for this! He said unleashing a stream of missiles into the advancing Masarais.
Completely ignoring Fritz' orders Pan took a well calculated shot with his bazooka firing the standard rounds right at Wolf Ritter's mobile suit. "It's over for you punks! Suck on em!"

“Are you alright, Chief Reyes?”

A moment passed before Raquel responded while she attempted to cipher whether the space splayed out before her was the past or present, One Year War and this Gryps War switching back and forth like a flipped coin or trying to merge into one entity.

"Sir?" Finally registering that something was said to her. "Sorry--nothing, Captain," pinching the bridge of her nose then letting her index finger and thumb wipe over her eyes.

"I guess I'm just too focused on being another set of eyes," replying without turning towards him. "Just in case any stray sign of trouble wants to veer our way is all." Then forced a long, quiet exhale through her nostrils while let her fingers rose and fell on the steering. Waiting.

"Holy crap, huh," Adam said. Bernard hadn't paid much attention to the main attack but he looked up to see what surprised the young but experienced veteran. The lights and the large base immediately caught his eye.

"A Baoa Qu.." Bernard murmured.

He hasn't heard that name since it fell to the Federation. Al’s voice crackled through the channel, “Bogeys. INCOMING!”

Bernard instinctively broke right avoiding the beams, with the help of his HUD. The shots barely grazing his armor. The added weight of the cannon had slightly slowed his Nemo's reaction time. Bernard would have to learn to compensate during the battle but at the moment he saw something he didn't like.

Gritting his teeth Bernard hit his comm, "Lieutenant, we need to redirect our attack! Our rear is exposed!"

we can't attack that group with a squad coming down on us..

"Al, grab their attention. Keep 'em off me." Bernard yipped.

With a green light status on the cannon, Bernard fired two shots from his beam rifle at Lt. Robin while he attained a lock for the cannon. Once that buzzer sounded a few seconds later, he fired the 240mm cannon also at Lt. Robin. The Nemo rocked back a bit from the recoil. Hopefully the beams would put him off balance while the cannon round would finish the job.

Since his unit was the artillery of the group he thought it be wise not to be upfront. Tapping his controls he boosted backwards while a whirling sound indicated that another projectile was being loaded.

Upon hearing Capt. Wald's reply Matthew surged forward to an asteroid dummy in Mobile Armor mode to stay fairly hidden. Recording in maximum zoom he watched the battle unfolding infront of their eyes focusing on the Aeug's Rick Dias. It was a graceful, beautiful machine with speed of a demon. It would indeed be a challenge when they would eventually battle. He wondered if his brothers were in battles such as this when a fear gripped him for a few minutes before he could normally breathe again.

"I understand know." Matthew spoke to himself.

This, was the type of battle Aaron had never expected to be in when he signed up. He figured there would be some skirmishes here and there, but never a full scale fleet battle.

He took a deep breath and made sure to steel himself, no use freaking out.

"Mark your Targets and back up Delta, but fall back if overwhelmed."

Elijah's voice shook him out of his spell and put his mind back on task, "Do you mean we actually have to save Lt. Kamek's ass? Oh, he's not gonna like that."

As the approached the Hamburg Team, he intended to attack one of the Nemos, that was until a new version of the Nemo showed up on his monitor. Well, at least it was a Nemo with a cannon slapped on it. Said Nemo Cannon then opened fire on Elijah and began to retreat to a better firing position.

"Can't have that!" He said plunging after Bernard in his Nemo Cannon while firing three shots from his beam rifle. "Getting close enough will make that cannon useless!"

Sven's Marasai lagged slightly above behind Wolf's custom Marasai. Sven had been tracking one of the nemo teams when Wolf's voice came through broken only by the increasing Minovsky Particle density, "Sven! Constantine! I've fou.. our targets. I ... the one in strange colors." Following Wolf's lead Sven fed more fuel to his Marasai's thrusters and began to climb even farther from Wolf. A blast from Wolf's beam launcher drew his attention to the team of Rick Diases that were rapidly closing with Beta Team. It took no less then a second for him to notice the lighter colored pink unit.

Svens stomache quickly turned to ice, the pink unit, had easily taken both him and Ryu, and killed Ryu. He had no qualms about Wolf easily killing the pilot; but that AEUG team had been quite a capable and formidible opponent. Just then the unit opened fire on Beta Team; but all the fire was almost entirely directed at Wolf's Marasai. They will regret this mistake. Sven knew their new wingman would probably recieve little of the message due to the ever increasing Minovsky Particles but he shouted nontheless, "Constantine, assist me in drawing fire from Wolf."

One of the enemy Rick Diases, which looked slightly different from the normal Rick Dias; but Sven could not figure out what was different about it, moved forward and launched a wave of rockets at Beta Team. Grappling his suite he sent it into a slight roll off to the left and weaved his way through the rockets. Time to remind them that Wolf is not alone. Quickly picking a target Sven snapped off two hastily aimed shots at the first Rick Dias which had opened fire at Wolf.

They had expected fire to come in eventually, but it was still something of a surprise when the three Titan suits moved in and began to fire. The lead unit, a Marasai, had fired a trio of shots at Wes, which he had dodged, while the rest of the team merely juked to avoid. As Wes charged in to engage the lead Marasai, another pair of suits, one another Marasai, one an upgraded Hizack, and all three of the pilots assumed it to be the Hizack Custom model.

It concerned Eddie the most, as it slowed down and fired a shot from its beam launcher, which definitively gave it away as the RMS-106CS. Eckardy side-stepped his suit to the left, easily avoiding the beam that came from above him, and as a result avoiding the beam fired by Grace. Eckardy pointed his beam rifle at the Hizack and fired a shot without slowing down, before banking slightly to his left and kicking his Rick Dias Custom to its top speed and trying to get a little more distance from the enemy.

Cowboy's first thought was to fire a bazooka shell at the Hizack Custom. But, barely had the rocket left the weapon than two beams came in at him from a Marasai (Grace), which quickly turned and started racing away. Marvin turned to track the Marasai, and quickly ripped off another pair of rockets with the bazooka in his suits right hand, while with the left he drew one of the beam pistols as he took off after the Marasai.

But, lagging behind the formation, Grace's turn, which did force Marvin to follow the Marasai, gave Ian a clean shot with any of his weapons. With the clay bazooka in his Rick Dias' right hand, his lone beam pistol in the left, and the C-Type packs cannon, Ian grinned to himself as he slowed the suit down slightly. He fired a single shot from both the beam pistol and the clay bazooka, but added a pair of shots from the 240mm cannon that had replaced his right side binder. As soon as the shots left their barrels, Ian stomped on his thrusters, moving at what seemed to be a very slow pace, and slid his suit to it's right, in a vain effort to keep up with the faster Marasai and Marvins stock Rick Dias.

Jason's threat display lit up once again but this time it was a continuous alarm. His Marasai had been targeted several times during the past 15 minutes. Unaware from which direction he was being attacked, Jason stopped and spun his suit 160 degrees stopping his attack run on Burke.

can't get a moments rest in this mothe--

A surprise round flew up infront of him taking a few years off his life. Without losing a step Jason hit his verniers and spun sideways and back letting Jacob's 2nd round go past.

Trying to get a quick breather, Jason views his surroundings to see how bad things are gonna get. Firing two shots at Team 1 to keep them unbalanced and away.

Bernard noticed one particular Hizack pay attention to him. The Nemo fired its verniers, redirecting his backward thrust to a hard right while bring his shield up into a protective manner. Letting 2 beam shots fly past but the third making contact on the shield, making it usless. The mobile suit jolted from the impact disrupting any lock it had with the cannon. Bernard steadied the Nemo's aim by using both hands on the rifle and returning 3 shots towards Faraday's plunging Hizack.

Trent watched the battle in P Field in stony silence from his command chair. It was clear to him that Echo’s counter-barrage was becoming an increasingly ineffective light show in the face of high Minovsky density and dummy balloons. If P Field was going to be a safe route for the Dogosse Gier’s exit, it would be the doing of the mobile suits and their pilots. An image of Axis’ estimated path loomed above him on one of the main bridge monitors, and he looked up just as the stylized representation of Axis ticked another space in its arc closer to the Gate of Zedan. The constant countdown next to it was a much less discrete source of intensity - its red display rolled under 57:00:00 as Trent looked over to the failing video feed of Taskforce Juliet. Through the static and interference he saw a small explosion blossom out of the Latium’s bow. He tensed up at the thought of what could have happened to Echo had they been the ones responsible for resisting the Argama and the main AEUG attack.

Maybe that would be preferable to helping Bask Om escape this mess he had helped create,” Trent thought. Either way, more men and women were going to die. He shook his head and tried to relax back into his chair, which was made difficult by his bulky normal suit. “No,” he reconsidered, “Going up against the Argama has almost been the same as a death sentence lately,”. He rationalized that remaining alive was a strong enough incentive to lend Bask a hand in escaping. And there was still a war to win. Because the price of losing was far too high for him and everyone else in Echo.

- Alpha Team -

Stukov smiled when his computer alerted him that one of Team 2’s Rick Diases was taken in and had turned to pursue him. An image of Wes’ MS popped up in his HUD and he was puzzled again by the new equipment packs mounted on the suit’s hips as he prepared to take evasive action. The first beam rifle shot passed on his left, and Stukov put his suit into a roll and dropped down as the second passed above. Using his AMBAC and verniers and the momentum his acceleration had built up, Stukov twisted his Marasai’s torso to the side and kicked a leg out, flipping him around completely. His thrusters fired again, keeping him headed “backwards” in his original direction of travel as he faced Curren’s Dias and raised his beam rifle.

As the computer assisted his aim and the reticule hovered over Wes, a small swarm of missiles erupted from the missile binders on the B-Type’s hips. “…oh,” Stukov said in a surprised monotone when the packs revealed their purpose. Ignoring the chance to return fire for a moment he pressed a foot down on a pedal and manipulated the controls, making his Marasai ‘slide’ to the right as he opened fire at the oncoming spray missiles with his vulcans. It took a stressful moment of vigorous vulcan fire for a round to make contact, but eventually a missile was struck and detonated, taking several of it’s brothers with it as Stukov added a beam rifle shot into the explosion that took out several more. One of the survivors streaked out of the pink puff of explosion and debris and struck his Marasai in the shoulder, blowing away most of the shoulder dome and taking out the spikes.

“Damn it!” Stukov grunted, taking a brief moment to move the impaired joint to make sure it still functioned. A HUD damage indicator responded, causing the shoulder and joint of a green MS outline to fade to a dull orange. Anger flashed in his eyes when he realized his opponent had gotten in the first hit. In modern mobile suit combat that was often the only one required to down an enemy, and Stukov’s jaw set at his own small failure. “You are going to find that I am not that easy to kill, AEUG,” he barked, finally lining up a shot at Wes. He fired his beam rifle twice in retaliation after looking around to make sure he was not blind to an attack from elsewhere.

Behind and above him, Leandro juked to the side to avoid Eddie’s shot. If he had stopped to fire at Team 2, it may have come much closer to hitting him. He watched as Eddie continued on into a turn at full speed and decided to pick a different target. His computer pinged at him in warning as he noticed Marvin’s rocket coming in at him, and he grumbled in frustration at all the attention he was getting as he boosted forward to avoid the round. Below him Grace continued on at full speed, letting Marvin’s rockets fly past in her wake as she managed to stay ahead of the attacks in a zigzagging pattern. “Find someone else to bother,” Leandro said, firing down at Marvin as the Rick Dias turned to pursue Grace. He kept his Hizack moving like he had the last time. Eddie’s return fire had shown him it wouldn’t be very smart to come to a full stop in a fur ball like this.

Grace was aware of Ian’s general position in relation to her turn as she led Marvin away from Team 2‘s formation, but the sheer volume of well-aimed fire he put out in trying to hit her was a surprise. It was enough to make her temporarily forget Marvin so she could put her Marasai into a severe and sudden looping maneuver to avoid the bulk of the attack. The clay bazooka round exploded near enough that she could hear shrapnel plinking off her armor, but she had managed to evade the cannon rounds and the pistol beam. “What the heck was that?” she reacted aloud when she realized the shoulder cannon rounds had come from a third weapon from the same Rick Dias. She kept on the move, trying to draw Marvin away further so that Stukov and Leandro could take the others on separately.

Wolf reacted with a snarl of surprise at the missiles launched at his team by Jim, but the distance between them allowed him to let up a little speed and weave through the missiles as they came like Sven had. Somewhere to his left Constantine peeled away from the trio and managed to make similar evasive to stay close to Haksson. A thoroughly garbled message from one of the AEUG pilots chattered through the radio. Wolf thought he could make out the word “suck” as the pink one fired a bazooka round. He flew at Pan like he intended to play chicken before rolling onto his side as Fritz’ initial shot missed. Wolf hit his verniers and managed to move back and ‘step aside’, letting Pan’s explosive round pass him. “If you’re here then he must be somewhere nearby,” Wolf growled as he fired his beam launcher again, this time aimed specifically at Pan.

The presence of the pink Rick Dias meant these were mobile suits from the 4th Squadron that Echo had been annoyed by for so long. And 4th Squadron mobile suits meant that Fritz Ashlyn had to be in one of them - it was just a matter of finding him to finish him off. Even if Tariq refused to cooperate with him and Nick still wanted him dead, he could still crush Ashlyn to avenge his sister’s death. And once the traitor was removed, he could focus on dealing with Te’Litha to settle his vendetta over his father’s assassination. With those two dead, it would simply be a matter of surviving this petty war to ensure the destiny was fulfilled.

Constantine tried to stay close to Sven as they ran through the spray missiles a little too quickly for his tastes. It was just enough of a test of his skill to make him nervous. "Const**zzzZZZ**, assist **vvvvm** in draw*gt* fire from Wolf," Haksson said as he charged ahead to engage the Rick Dias that had fired the missiles. Constantine responded with an affirmative he wasn’t sure Sven would hear and then accelerated forward, moving his Marasai to Sven’s right to come at Jim from a different forward angle. Anything that would keep them from having to deal with more of those rockets was fine by him. He fired a shot from his rifle shortly after Sven opened fire on Jim.

- Delta Team -

Cara tried to keep herself psyched and confident as the trio of Barzams closed in on the New Yark Nemos. Kyle moved closer to her suit and tried to talk her up, "Ens. Shiranui. I'm not sure what the outcome of this battle will be, but it doesn't look good but....this cause is NOT worth dying for. Keep an eye on the fleet and follow their lead. But remember there's no shame in surrendering. Just--". He suddenly stopped talking as warning lights came on in both Barzams’ cockpits, and the two pilots boosted away from each other to let the incoming shot pass between. She reoriented her suit in time to see the flashes from Ramon’s beam rifle. “Oh no!” she yelped when she realized the one attacking her was the Nemo that had evaded Lt. Kamek’s attack by moving like a gymnast.

She kept her MS moving to the left out of the original boost away from Kyle, and managed to avoid both Ramon and Adam’s shots. She fired back once at Hard AE in an attempt to calm herself down and get her mind back on track. Up ahead of her, she could see Picard slow down and avoid a beam from somewhere above Delta. She looked up and let out a small ‘eep’ of surprise when she saw the Hamburg Team coming in to assist the New Yark Nemos. “S-sir! Ltjg. Roberts! There are more enemies above us!” she called out, hoping he could hear her.

Picard Kamek let out a clipped selection of choice curse words when he was forced to enter a panic evasive because of Randy Emington’s support attack. “I was about to take your pal down!” he complained, turning his anger on Mello as he managed to twist his Barzam out of the way of the lieutenant’s shots. “Stop moving around so much and just die,” he growled, firing at the Nemo again. “**bbvvvzzz**ore enemies above us!” Cara’s voice buzzed in his helmet, causing M-Hover to look up. “I know about those jackasses! They’re already trying to shoot me down!” he retorted angrily. Then he noticed the Buxoro Team moving in to assist Delta. “…What the hell?!” he erupted, “Do I look like I need you people’s help here? Come back when I ask for you!”.

He tried to wave them off and concentrate on Mello at the same time, which stretched his middling abilities to the limit. One of Thibaut’s cannon rounds screamed past, causing him to sputter more curses at the distractions. “Just back off and let me deal with this,” he demanded, drawing his beam saber. He felt a mixture of adrenaline-fueled boldness and fear when he saw Mello do the same. By God, he was going to show them all what a newtype could do whether he was outnumbered or not. Kamek charged in, grinding his teeth and actually squeezing his eyes shut as he took a wide, lazy swing at Mello’s Nemo as the two suits came close. He opened one and then the other after he felt the jolt of his saber locking up against Lt. Mello’s. “Hah!” he wheezed, a half-yelled laugh as he remembered to breathe. “I’ll finish you off!”.

- Herakles Team -

Weeks turned his advance into a slow dive to avoid Rick’s return shot. He tried to track the Nemo as it closed in, but found the unpredictable pattern hard to anticipate. “Gimme a break,” he muttered, finally getting fed up. He tried to lead Archer’s Nemo and fired three shots in fairly quick succession in the hopes of catching it in a turn. Ens. Court was forced to abort his attack on Terrace by Folk’s intervention, and he hit his verniers and nearly came to a stop to let the beam pass in front of him. “Okay, I’ll do you first,” he said, turning ‘up’ to engage Folk. He closed the distance between them, moving from side to side and firing his 120mm and a couple of hip-mounted missiles to keep the Nemo busy.

Re: Episode 20 - The Gate of Zedan

- Outside the Gate of Zedan’s P Field -

- The Dervish -
- Bridge -

“Our mobile suits are fully engaged with the Titans, sir,” Barrique reported from the bridge windows where he was scanning the battlefield with binoculars. Similar reports from the other ships’ observation teams trickled in, confirming the brawl going on in P Field. Abbey glanced up to the Argama’s simulation of Axis’ approach vector, much like Trent was doing at the same time. In 57 minutes the course of the war would be changed irreversibly, regardless of the outcome of this battle. Either the AEUG or the Titans would be dealt a blow that Abbey was certain neither side could recover from - the AEUG had committed too much to this attack to have it fail, and the Titans would have their already-weakened power structure rocked to the core now that they didn’t have the Federation standing behind them.

He looked down at his hands where they gripped the armrests of his command chair. “If we are defeated, more will rise up in our place,” he murmured. It was the only comfort he could find in the thought of the AEUG losing the war. “Sir?” Barrique asked. Abbey looked up and shook his head, “Nothing, Richard. I was--”. Barrique shook his head and explained, “Ah, no sir, I was trying to get your attention. There is an Axis ship off our port side observing our action against the Titans in P Field,”. Abbey turned in his seat but found they were not visible from his position on the bridge. “What are they doing?” he asked, rising from his seat to move to the port windows. His XO gestured vaguely and answered, “So far? Just observing. They’ve launched mobile suits but they’re staying behind their dummy asteroids. The Gwadan has moved back but this one is staying close to us,”.

Abbey nodded at the appraisal of the Bindra’s actions as he got a look at the orange Endra-class hanging in the distance. “As long as they’re not doing anything suspicious we’ll leave them be. I suppose we can’t shoo them away for trying to get a look at us,” Abbey said with a sigh. He turned to Barrique and said matter-of-factly, “They want any advantage they can get for when it comes time for us to start shooting at each other,”. Barrique nodded curtly. “I don’t trust them any more than you do, sir. From what I understand Haman Karn has perverted their loyalty to the Zabis into a sick devotion. She’s built up their evil on a foundation of lies,” he said, his voice loaded with venom. Abbey glanced back out at the Bindra and shrugged, “I agree with you, Richard, and I’ll fight them just as hard as I have this war and the one before it. But an enemy totally devoted to his cause is dangerous. Just ask the Titans,”. Barrique agreed reluctantly and went back to watching the battle through his binoculars.

- Hangar -

Dr. M added a cluck of disappointment to the noise of the mechanics and other crew watching the battle as the video feed rolled and turned into fuzzy interference. "The tactics for attacking the Gate of Zedan are well thought out, I'm sure, Doctor,” Rem said, approaching him through the crowd. "The new data aggregators are running in parallel to the old ones, so hopefully we'll get data on both the suit performance as well as on the performance of the aggregators themselves," he added, improving the doctor’s mood slightly. “It’s no use, Mr. Banner,” Merkwürdigliebe lamented jokingly when he noticed Rem trying to get a view of the uncooperative monitor. Sager managed to wriggle through the mob and he approached the screen to get a better view. “It ain’t working, boss,” one of the crew piped up sarcastically, “Too many Tchaikovsky particles,”.

Sager craned his neck to look back over his shoulder at the joker and said, “This isn’t M-interference, dumbass. This monitor has bad wiring,”. He reached for a pocket to retrieve a tool to try and fix the set before remembering he was sealed inside a normal suit. Sager shook his head at the snickers from the men closest to him and gave the monitor’s control panel a hard smack with his palm. The picture rolled back and crackled with snow for a moment before the fuzzy pictures of the battle going on outside came back. A small cheer went up from the crowd and Sager stepped back to get out of everyone’s view.

- Gate of Zedan, P Field -
- Team 1 -

Fritz’ eyes narrowed as he watched Pan speed ahead and engage Wolf. Out in front of Team 1, Jim was soon dealing with Sven and Constantine on his own. “Damn it, Pan. I told you to stay close to Jim!” he admonished Heyden, speeding up to get closer to him and Ritter, “Go help him out!”. Fritz fired another explosive clay bazooka round at Wolf as he raised his beam launcher and let loose another blast aimed at Pan. Ritter was so close, and completely unaware of his decision to revert to the standard Rick Dias color scheme - if he had known, that beam would have been aimed squarely at him, not Pan. Fritz looked at Ritter, and then back at Jim who was being attacked by two Marasais. He would burn too much fuel trying to fight them both at once in a situation like this. But Ritter was so close…

“Damn!” Fritz growled, breaking away from his attack on Wolf to move in to assist Jim. He fired a round at Constantine who managed to duck it, but at least he had taken some of the pressure off of MacAlpin. “Jim, try to lead one of them away so we can pick them off separately,” he said, hoping he could hear him. Behind the rest of Team 1, Michiko pushed her heavier machine to try and stay in a position to provide support fire. She was surprised at Pan’s blatant disregard of Fritz orders, but there were more important things to worry about. “Get back!” she peeped, firing a duo of beam pistol shots followed by a cannon round at Sven to keep him off of Jim.

- Team 3 -

“Oh, whoa!” Burke blurted as he watched Nick and Jason turn and blast away most of the dozen missiles he had launched into Gamma Team’s position. Even as one of them struck the striped Marasai’s shield, Burke was putting his speedy Rick Dias into a twisting turn ‘down’ to avoid the inevitable return fire. He realized his choice of heading down was a mistake when he found he was still face to face with Drossel’s Marasai. “I could use some help here!” Luke called over the radio as he noticed Nick was also still headed in his direction. He flipped his suit onto its left side and skidded into a new climb, avoiding Nick’s two shots with pure speed. Jason’s trio of beams skimmed closer, and the third one clipped the right foot of Burke’s suit, sending him into a short tumble as the foot and ankle were mangled. He managed to recover after a short wrestling match with his controls, and he fired a shot from his beam rifle at Jason.

Clute watched Burke’s interaction with Nick and Jason as if it were played in slow motion and fast forward at the same time. His headache was worse. “I’m coming…” he said in response to Luke’s call for assistance. He shifted the clay bazooka into his suit’s left hand and let it rest under the arm as he pulled a beam pistol into the right hand. A new targeting sight popped up as the weapon changed, and he let it glide into place leading a Marasai. His -099S rocked forward as he accelerated and he fired two beam pistol shots at Nick as harassment fire. Something about the way the striped suit moved made--

--nobody gonna take my head I got speed inside my brain nobody gonna steal my head now that I’m on the road again ooh I’m in heaven again I’ve got everything like a moving ground and everything--

--him feel like he could reach out and touch where it was going to be. It’s movements seemed unsurprising, like a pattern was developing. Distracting music in his head again, at the very edge of his hearing. It seemed like it was getting louder. In 100 years it might be loud enough to be intelligible. Celeste was talking. “Sir, I’ll take the third one,”.

She moved past on Clute’s right and fired an explosive round at Miller’s Marasai as it turned to move on Jacob. “Be careful, Jacob. I’ll help you with this one,” she said. She was concerned that the combination of new equipment and the stress of a battle of this magnitude would throw Jacob off and make it dangerous for him to fight a skilled Marasai pilot alone. “Back away from him and let me engage him at a closer range. Try to line up another shot with your cannon,” she said, moving to try and get in between the two mobile suits.

- New Yark Team -

“Dodging and counterattacking, hooooo~!” Ramon yelled, leading Thibaut forward to keep the pressure on Cara. Sumitani waited for her aimed shot to close in before he fired thrusters on his suit and spun his Nemo like a top to let the beam pass where his chest would have been. It left a black scorch mark along his shield where it had been turned toward it during the spin. “Jeez, Ramon. You should be more careful,” Thibaut said. He felt his stomach drop into his feet just watching Ramon pull off the move that left him so close to being hit in the cockpit by a beam. “Ha ha ha!” Ramon responded as he lined up another shot at Cara. He pointed at her Barzam (as if she could see it through his cockpit…) and said, “You, too, have your choice of how we will finish things: hard, or hard,”. He fired a pair of beams at her, and Thibaut followed it up with a cannon shot.

Tanner, who was still baffled by Hard AE’s piloting style, tried to keep up with his team as they waded into Delta. After Thibaut’s first shot forced Kyle and Cara to move away from each other, Roberts had decided to take it out on Tanner. “What the hell kind of mobile suit is that?” Tanner said when he got a good look at Kyle’s Barzam. He flitted to the right and up, letting the three shots pass him by. “Ugly,” he added, firing two shots back at Kyle, “The Titans must be getting desperate if they’re allowing pilots to fly suits that look like that,”.

Mello ducked and weaved as he closed in on Kamek. Picard’s shots were hastily aimed and sailed wide as he kept on the move but one of Kyle’s clipped his Nemo’s leg, burning across the left thigh but doing little damage. “Having a hard time?” Mello asked with a laugh as Thibaut’s cannon round caused Kamek’s Barzam to jerk out of the way as if he didn‘t see it coming. He pushed ahead, drawing and igniting his beam saber to mimic M-Hover’s actions. “Let’s see what you’ve got, hotshot,” he said, moving in to parry Picard’s attack. Kamek’s swing was slow and easy enough to block, and Mello pushed back against him to keep his blade in check. “Hah!” Picard wheezed, “I’ll finish you off!”. Mello raised an eyebrow and replied, “Finish me off? You haven’t even started with me,”. He shoved Kamek back, breaking the melee deadlock momentarily to take a swipe of his own. Somewhat surprisingly, Picard managed to block it with a decent reaction time. “I’m a newtype, you idiot!” he taunted Mello.
