Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Thread Mk I
I can't say I'm looking forward to Part II of this series. The writing has been consistently weak, the two main characters are painfully unlikeable, and there's no real sense of direction to the story. If it weren't Gundam and therefore Too Big To Fail, I'd suspect it never would've gotten a Part II.

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
Think about it, I think the first animate MS equipped with rail cannon (not counting the shot lancer) seems to be Gozzo from Turn A Gundam, and no other suit use it. When the Earth Militia modified it into Godwin , they naturally don't have such weapon and replace it with a mundane cannon (the offi...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
Is it known how the Atlas Gundam's railgun reloads and if it it has had mass/limited production? id imagine that there would at least be some sort of use for the tech post war too. found some reference images on the gundam wiki and the mag for the railgun loads into the bottom of the weapon. and ap...

Re: Starship Troopers Power Armor
Are we ever shown the exact specs of the power armor and its weapons in any starship troopers media? I was looking into it but i couldn't find anything. Maybe the tabletop games have something? Thought id ask on here since I don't know where else I could ask. So... my question would be "Which ...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
Probably worth to note that aside of Dainslef, all Pluma (Hashmal's lackeys) are also equipped with a railgun, and Bael has electromagnetic gun in its binders. As McGillis notes, l railgun shooting normal ammo is still legal, if borderline, weapon. Based on the official Mechanics and World books fo...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
now that i think about it the dainsleif might not be a full on railgun but instead a electromagnetically assisted weapon since the end of the projectile is sticking out of the end of the barrel. It would make much more sense if it was still fired by some sort of propellent and assisted using a rail...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
So the last UC mobile suit armed with railgun is Land Combat Hyaku Shiki Kai now. But that's MSV, so it's non-canon until/unless it appears in animation (per Sunrise's official policy). Many of the later MSV railguns, based on what I've read, are not even actually railguns but railgun-like weaponiz...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
oh that's actually really cool. doesn't that mean that some ships would be capable of a really souped up type of kinetic bombardment? iirc the U.S. air force made a concept for something that could drop tungsten rods that might have the power of a nuke when dropped. would something like that bypass...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
It occurred to me a moment ago that I should mention the main area where you'll find the principles behind railguns applied in Gundam isn't even a weapon... It's the Mass Driver systems used to launch ships into orbit and the linear catapults used to launch Mobile Suits, Mobile Armors, and fighters ...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
I was wondering how many Railgun style weapons exist in the Universal Century. The only one I know of is the one that the Atlas Gundam uses. Very few... and virtually all of them are unofficial/non-canonical designs from MSV or Gundam Thunderbolt . That technology is far more common in the most rec...

Re: Anti Newtype weapons, systems and MS
It does seem like the Biosensor works, albeit maybe in a limited capacity. Kamille and Scirocco were amongst the most powerful Newtypes at the time, so it seems as though the system was just too powerful for use on many other pilots. The profile of the Delta Plus even states that it had a hard time...

Re: Anti Newtype weapons, systems and MS
Ah gotcha, yeah I'm familiar with all the main beats there I just didn't know if Gihren or perhaps Kycillia had any specific propaganda regarding Newtypes, since Newtypes themselves were treated as something of a superstition prior to and during the OYW. I suppose awareness of Newtypes was limited ...

Re: Anti Newtype weapons, systems and MS
I think it is a logical conclusion to make to use NT against NT, and if you have the method to create NTs as you wish and control them, or maybe even make yourself one(Iron Mask, for example), it is a perfect type of anti NT system. When it works, anyway. The Cyber-Newtype process was/is extremely ...

Re: Anti Newtype weapons, systems and MS
That said the part you quoted about EXAM being designed specifically as an anti-newtype weapon system and Moses really hating Newtypes doesn't ring a bell to me. Perhaps that's a new addition since I recall him having more of a positive relationship with Marion as Kuruni mentions. Master Archive do...

Re: Anti Newtype weapons, systems and MS
Having never played the Blue Destiny video game or read the manga, there is some WILD stuff in here. Not sure how much of it is retcons or not, but whooboy... Based on the description here, the EXAM system is 100% meant as an anti-Newtype weapon. Apparently Dr. Kurst Moses (lol, great name) was one ...

Re: Anti Newtype weapons, systems and MS
One detail I remember from some creator commentary on the subject of Newtypes is a remark about how Newtypes never really had a chance to be The Next Step in human evolution because their military potential was too evident. By the time of Gundam UC in 0096, the in-story concept of a Newtype had been...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread
Oh yeah, I forgot we've talked about this before, but not on the specific of how the 5th gen are simpler to maintain than the VF-19. Not just simpler to maintain, but more durable as well... the linear actuator abolished a lot of the most delicate and failure-prone components and in so doing reduce...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread
I don't know if that particular machine has been brought up before on this thread, but what else can you tell use about the VF-31X? It hasn't. Long story short, the VF-31X is an invention of Master File 's writers for the recently-released Variable Fighter Master File: VF-31AX Kairos Plus . It was ...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread
So, with the Vajra threat subsided, is there any chance the VF-19 with ISC will return? Given the sheer size and diversity of the New UN Government, the probability is nonzero... but it's still very unlikely. The main reason it's so unlikely is that the VF-19 was never widely adopted by the New UN ...
