Re: Ship & Aerospace Plane Encyclopedia
Mmh... Mark makes a good point here (as usual!); I did't considered such possible drawbacks. Concerning the Tien-Lu / Klimt , in my opinion it's not a problem if we think that these are two individual units of a same class (or model) of shuttles. Which is exactly what happens with the Temptation adn...

Re: Ship & Aerospace Plane Encyclopedia
Yeah, this "streamlining" seems a good idea, especially because tends to give each mecha its "univocal" name (whereas the original counterparts are very generic). By the way, MS IGLOO2 filled also two other "holes" by introducing the B.M.C. Z78/2 designation for the sta...

Re: Crossbone Ghost MS discussion
Actually it seems that they corected also the name (at least its katakana), from ビフロンス to ビブロンズ, so now maybe it should be rendered as Bibronze rather tha Bibrons...Bibrons confirmed as spelling, model number corrected as ZMT-XXG.

Re: MS Catalog
Welp, that wasn't very helpful :( I wouldn't be so pessimistic. Now we have an evidence that the vulcans are on the head; given their caliber (60mm) compared to the total MA length (218.30 m) I suppose that the fact they're not visible on the art is just a matter of scale: in other words there's no...

Z'OD-IACOK: Has anyone made any sense of where its weapons are supposed to be? No idea for the vulcans, but I imagine the beam cannons are mounted on these tube like protrusion on the hull, the beam sabers are in those small claws on the wired beam claws. According to Gundam Wars III , those "...

Re: Ship & Aerospace Plane Encyclopedia
Excellent job!
Please go on this way whenever you can
EDIT:
Just a little note... if I'm not wrong the green Magellan is the Hull, whereas the one "with a more rounded rear thruster section" should be a standard model equipped with boosters for leaving Earth's gravity.

Re: Mobile Suit Moon Gundam (tentative)
It's always nice to have such an insight into the deep roots of a work... For instance, I found the idea of starting all with Moon Moon - i.e. one of the most heavily criticized parts of ZZ Gundam (at least by Western fans) - quite "courageous" (or perhaps reckless? ). I found so...

what machine was the Triplet?
The Triplet is a support unit (a sort of tugboat, just like the classic Sodon) seen when the G-IT corps first deployed the GaeonI think he means the Trinity.

Re: Republic of Zeon Mobile Units
The notion that the Republic of Zeon still uses old Principaliity units (plus some EFF / Titans mobile suits) is quite widespread among, as can be seen by the listings below. * volume 3 of Masato Natsumoto's manga Gundam Legacy (chapter 17, settled in U.C 0084) MP-02A Oggo MS-06E-3 Zaku Flipper MS-0...

Re: Updated Mobile Suit Gundam Timeline
Interesting! Thanks for the info :) Back to the initial questions of Zeph Merquise, you surely already noticed the inside Mecha Talk links included in the "Timelines analysis and notes" section of this thread. Well, those are a good starting point to deepen the matter. By the way, they'll ...

Re: Updated Mobile Suit Gundam Timeline
What puzzles me more about that "Universal Century Master Timeline" - besides some a bit unusual name spellings - is the event listed for U.C.0099: EFF O-2 Gwydion “Gwyn” Lenore defeats renegade Neo Zeon “Aquila Corps” commander O-5 Mabban Kirov (“Zack the Knife”) amid the ruins of Solomon...

Interestingly, one of the depicted Columbus classes modified into an aircarrier is named Shark Bay, a unit which - as far as I recall - was never mentioned before.

Re: MS Catalog
In general, when I'm translating names, I like to assume that the Japanese writers know what they're doing and any deviations from the standard kana are deliberate changes rather than mistakes to be "corrected" by an all-knowing translator. Yep, that seem a pretty sound principle... but j...

Re: Crossbone Ghost MS discussion
The MS contest winner Bibrons appeared as an experimental Zanscare MS Sorry for the little correction, but it's name is Bifrons (ビフロンス), which in Latin means literaly "Double-foreheaded" (it was an epithet of the ancient Roman deity Ianus), an obvious reference of the fact it has two head...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Mecha Thread Mk I
Concerning the Alincato, it's interesting to note that Rockpie says its name derives from a mythical creature that feeds on gold. As far as I know, such a legendary beast does exists in Chilean mythology, but it's the Alicanto , so for some strange reason the Japanese transliteration has changed the...

Re: Javelin's Sucessor
Yep, apparently not much is said in the novel where it's introduced (volume 5, chapter 10).Jp wiki just lists the name and says they don't describe either the model number nor armaments
Which makes me wonder from what source the RGM-147 model number should come...

Re: Dom designation numbers
Well, long ago somebody (i.e. myself) speculated that the MS-09A could have been the pre-production model assigned to the Black Tri-Stars. However, quoting toysdream from the very first page of this thread Dom: The Dowadge kit manual does identify the standard production version of the Dom as the MS...

Their overall aspect is very tank-like and, as said, I prefer to hypothesize that they are some sort of large-sized tanks. Nevertheless, a...
