Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
I wonder if any of the Macross money went into Earth Maiden Arjuna... Also, was idea or design in Aquarion originated from Kawamori's unused concepts? Also, was the discussion on the movie adaptation helmed by Studio Nue or Bandai? I recently heard some hearsay that after the OVA market passed its p...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
So on Twitter a few people are talking about why Kawamori did so many guest spots as a mechanical designers for things like Gundam, Cyber Formula, etc. The posts basically said that after the Bubble Era, most studios just wanted to bank on established franchise. Eventually Kawamori fed up with it an...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Oddly, the Macross franchise hasn't really got a huge presence in thinbooks... apart from the inevitable h-doujinshi you'd expect from any popular series. The first noteworthy Macross doujinshi was penned by M.A.T. - originally styled "Multi-configuration Analysis Team", later changed to ...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Say, was there any creators who got their start doing Macross fan arts/doujins/etc.? A friend recently recommended me some Saint Seiya doujins made by CLAMP before their professional debut, so I just want to ask. Now think about it, a good number of mechanical designers started out as fan artists or...

How well can we replicate complex, non-standard, human-like movements with the flight stick?
I wonder if we have a flight stick or the "ball" (as in the 0093 U.C EFF cockpit), can we make a humanoid machine do complex movements such as the "Char's kick" if those movements have never been programmed into the machine? I guess that the onboard computer will have to do a lot...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
We all know the debacles with Harmony Gold/Robotech and FASA/Battletech, but was there anything on the Transformers front? I mean, Jetfire's design was copied from the VF-1, right? Was there any difficulty when G1 was brought to Japan?

Re: How niche was mecha in America before Transformers?
Simple, really... Thanks to - and no, we're not kidding - a coincidental encounter between a Hasbro executive and Marvel's President in the men's restroom at a charity event. Hasbro's executive mentioned that they were planning to relaunch their G.I. Joe brand of figures but were having trouble com...

Re: How niche was mecha in America before Transformers?
'bout the only way to get your hands on mecha model kits or toys back then would've been to go to one of the very niche, specialized trade shows that were held every so often where importers would occasionally showcase their wares. It was one such trade show where FASA discovered mecha anime model ...

How niche was mecha in America before Transformers?
I know that Gigantor was aired in the 60s, but between that point and the mid-80s when shows like Transformers and Voltron were aired, how niche was mecha to the larger American audience? Like, I think I've seen pictures of Japanese mecha figures being sold in America in 81-82, but how widely were t...

Re: Desert Zaku's two machine gun variants
I recall an earlier thread talking about the anti-air clip for the Zaku machine gun. https://mechatalk.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=18129 But the nice Japanese wikipedia listed the difference models: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B6%E3%82%AFII#%E3%82%B6%E3%82%AF%E3%83%BB%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B7%E3...

Desert Zaku's two machine gun variants
So the Desert Zaku is equipped with either one of two variants of the 120mm Zaku machine gun: either a compact model with a lot of things removed ( this ), or one with a different stock and longer barrel with barrel jacket ( this ). Could anyone figure out what the second variant is supposed to do? ...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread
Not a lot. It's a more obscure type of Zentradi battle suit leftover from the Protoculture's civil war, though it isn't clear if it was once a part of their standard arsenal like the Glaug was or if it was a niche development by one of the Protoculture's emigrant planets. It's noted to be structura...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread
What do we know about the green battlesuit that was used by the Zentrandi at the beginning of Macross Plus? It seems like there isn't a lot of information about it on the net.

Which super robot weapon do you think is the weirdest? Feels like 90% of the time they just use the oversized version of whatever weapons human use.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Say, is there any interview with Keiko Nobumoto that goes into her involvement with Macross Plus and her thought on it? In light of her death, I've seen people discussing her works, and some even said that had she helmed Macross Zero's script, it wouldn't have ended up that bad. To think about it, M...

SRW terminology: real trooper vs. personal trooper
Real troopers are humanoid fighting robots that utilized a lot of Extra-Over Technology, while personal troopers does not, right? So why do I see a lot of places categorize the Huckebein series as personal troopers, while they are clearly real troopers?

How big was Augusta Lab during OYW anyway?
I mean, I could accept them building the 4th, 5th, and Alex Gundam. They are just fancier things of already existing models anyway. But then they just had to add the four Pale/Red/Black/White Rider, plus giving away the RX-80 frame of the Pale Rider to make the Blue Destiny 1, 2 and 3 in the manga. ...

It will probably show up in one of the mangas on Gundam Ace--or maybe it already has, and us English-speaking fans have no idea.
