I'm still working out who I'd want the true villains of the story to be but I think it could work as a players-vs.-GM game. I'm not sure about the magic one....the wizard robes might get caught on something in the cockpit and as for a pure comedy rpg --i don't think interest can be kept unless the RPG is about 3 fat guys selling used mecha and eating sausage and pepper sandwiches.
