Re: What books are you reading?

Choices of One was good, essentially a sequel to Allegiance with some nods to a few of Zahn's Star Wars short stories that I've read in other books. After that, I read through Zahn's latest Star Wars book, Scoundrels , which was excellent. It included a number of little references and nods to thing...

Re: Let's Watch (In Horror) ZZ Gundam

Where was the Federation defense fleet? The Garrison? Are they really so incompetent by UC0088 that Neo Zeon, with just a few ships and their mobile suit complements can roflstomp them? The Earth Orbital fleets (Or Home Fleet, or whatever they should be called) which should have been in place to st...

Re: Let's Watch (In Horror) ZZ Gundam

Are you sure? I could have absolutely sworn there was this part where Glemy or maybe it was Mashimar are talking about finding his remains and throwing away the chicken bone he was eating (or burying it rather). If he did than once again his character went up a few notches from the low it is in ZZ ...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies

-Alpha Team- They raced in at top speed, the distant team of AEUG MS that was fighting a group of another Echo unit. They would be a suitable enough target. “Engage,” Stukov bit over the team’s radio channel. Heyden’s response was just static from the jamming, while Dolk’s was a slightly longer blas...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies

-Delta Team- “Heads up,” Kyle alerted Leandro as he fired another shot towards the distant Axis ships. Leandro adjusted his position, keeping an eye on his sensors but deciding not to fire himself. The jamming was too thick, so he let Kyle take the shots at the Axis ships, and instead he concerned h...

Re: Questions Regarding Gundam F91

if i recall correctly, the preceding line from the captain was something like "A few thousand refugees are a small price to pay to end this war!" so i guess that shocked them not sure why, though, since callous commanders with spectacular disregard for civilian lives are nothing new in Gu...

Re: What books are you reading?

With The Old Breed was excellent, more than living up to its reputation. Since I finished that, I've gone on a kick of going through all of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars books, roughly in chronological order. I started with Outbound Flight , which was cool (And the first Star Wars novel I read set prior...

Re: Questions Regarding Gundam F91

Did we ever get a concrete answer to how the Federation beats the Crossbone Vanguard & Cosmo Babylonia? Only thing that springs to mind is those mass produced F91's from Crossbone... but I don't remember the manga too well. Not any I'm aware of. In the manga it just states that Berah Ronah aka ...

Re: Questions Regarding Gundam F91

I think one of the biggest faults F91 has is that it isn't a bad film per say, it's just one that gets lost in the shuffle. It doesn't carry over any of the same cast from the MSG, Z, ZZ, CCA stuff, and it's not as infamous as Victory Gundam. So I think most fans see it, but it doesn't leave as big...

Re: Questions Regarding Gundam F91

Interesting, so when Tomino states that he hates Gundam Victory and that it should be avoided, that would not be considered "de-canonizing" ? It is woth noting that Tomino's most negative comments about Victory, telling people he didn't like the show and the infamous "Don't buy this ...

Re: Victory Gundam: Details on the War

Also, that might explain why they pumped out new suits and weapon so far, while the Federation took so long to develop new suits (Which I believe might be the RGM-196 Freedom or something like that) It wasn't really having the former assets from Side 2 so much as the Zanscares had the motivation an...

Re: Victory Gundam: Details on the War

To answer some of those other questions... What exactly is the League Militaire? I think I might have read somewhere it was established before the war started. But was it started by the Federation as a Londo Bell esque organization or is it more like the AEUG, a group made up of former civilians, so...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies

- Kalinin Team- “Incoming beams,” Runnels reported rather calmly, with the pair of MS separating slightly to avoid the shots. But the Kalinin obviously couldn’t react as quickly. One beam missed cleanly, but the other passed low near the bridge tower, wiping away one of the secondary guns at the sta...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies

-Team 2- “Let’s give the New Yark team a hand, Eddie,” Sophie’s voice came through the radio, which had the effect of shocking Eddie back into the right frame of mind. “Yeah, let’s get over there,” Eddie mumbled and kicked his Rick Dias’ thrusters and caught up a bit to the other two in his team as ...

Re: GM Lines....

It's worth noting that this is the latest explanation of the Nemo, coming from places like the MG kit, as Mark informed in this post . Of course, this seems to be at odds with older explanations, which claim it was heavily based on or very similar to the GM II (Which is what the MAHQ and Gundam Offi...

Re: GM Lines....

Keep in mind official stats are full of holes. Mark has pointed out in some of his threads on MS specs (Two of which can be viewed here and here , and the subject probably came up in others) that series like Zeta and 0080 ignore the thrusters in the soles of MS feet, while 0083 apparently includes t...

Re: GM Lines....

As for the GM Type E, it's not actually the precursor to the GM Kai; the Japanese name for the model is simply "GM Pre-Production Type". It resembles the GM Kai because Katoki designed both machines. Uh... yes it is. The GM [E]/GM Kai's history has more than a few retcons in it, but the l...

Re: the dubbing discussion thread

Throw me in the "whichever I heard first" group as well. It doesn't matter if I saw something dubbed or subbed the first time around, whichever way it was is the way I remember it in my head and how I'll go back to the work in question in the future 99% of the time, regardless of the quali...

Re: GM Lines....

There are two reasons for that. The first is the GM Custom is supposed to be a high performance, limited production suit, so it having numbers higher than a base production model (Even one that came out a year or two later such as the GM II) wouldn't be too shocking. The other, totally out-of-univer...
