Re: Ep. 027: The Films of Pixar

OK, sorry for coming off like a troll guys. I could go back and pick out line by line what bothered me (it totally came off like a dude saying 'I liked Hunger Games back when it was called Battle Royale'), but I don't expect everyone to be on their guard about every little joke they make (the podcas...

Re: Ep. 027: The Films of Pixar

No, I said 'fanboy style', like, "We're not going to talk about why we think one thing is better than the other - it's just that one was made by that low-rent version of Pixar, so it's obviously inferior." You were sort-of doing it in a joking manner, but on my end it was like, 'Wait, Antz...

Re: Action RPG's

Seiken Densetsu 3 (sequel to Secret of Mana) is a classic, I highly recommend it if you can stand old (SNES) games. If you're looking for something newer, Legend of Mana (for PSX) is pretty good. Also you should add that you mean the action Shining games. The original games were turn-based RPGs (tho...

Re: Vision of Escaflowne...

Nearly 12 years later and I've finally had the chance to watch this entire show... and I really can't believe how good it is. I mean, when I was a kid, I didn't even know it was about the 'science of fate' (the original Fox Kids run never really got that far, I don't think). I enjoyed it more than t...

Re: Ep. 026: Tiger & Bunny

Arghhh, so good! I've been trying to reason with people about how stupid h8 out of 10 is ever since Chris mentioed his h8 for metacritic, but you know, stupid people will be stupid. I was actually excited to get home from work and start up Tiger and Bunny on Hulu (I had no idea you could watch it st...

Re: Possible Shenmue return

it's funny good games that stay on budget can keep getting sequels like that... No. What's funnier is how bad game that run out of budget somehow getting sequel. *cough*Duke Nukem Forever*cough* (no offense to you guys, but when I heard its sale skyrocket, I though that maybe USA really deserve the...

Re: Ep. 100 - Neon. Genesis. Evangelion.

Actually, Anno himself said the religious stuff is only there to look cool. There are many examples of fans putting more thought into something than the original creator. This is one such example. Yeah, Twilight, Gundam Wing, anything with a outrageous fanfic crowd... Honestly, if you can't enjoy s...

Arbiter GUNDAM wrote:Plus they keep making NEW Gundam shows, not the original over and and over.
My point was that they didn't need to make new shows to keep it popular, the sales of UC models are proof of that.

Re: Ep. 100 - Neon. Genesis. Evangelion.

MSG would have been forgotten... had it not been a giant toy marketing ploy. The toys are popular, so they made more shows... more shows, more toys, and so forth. The fact that the HGUC line is so strong is a testament to how the original MSG would still be popular, even without tons of re-releases....

Re: Sp. 002: Save or Troll

Rogue Squad II for the GC was good, but I couldn't stand the Dark Forces series. Every stage was an increasingly un-intuitive maze of pixels, almost like they used a random level generator. It was like, "WOOO, this is Star Wars! So fun, lightsabers, thermal detonators!" And then... "O...

Re: Digimon?

Woah, woah, woah, if you think 01's animation is dated, what do you think about the original Gundam?! The only thing that really dates Digimon for me is the old CG during their ultimate transformations.

Re: Sp. 002: Save or Troll

Well, I wouldn't say Capcom messed up the series then, your beef is with their US publishing branch, and with Nintendo for region-locking their systems. That and with the American gaming public which never really gave them an incentive to bring more titles over (though it was pretty dumb of them to ...

Re: Digimon?

I'm surprised at the number of people here who haven't seen Tamers. Having watched the first 4 "seasons", it's pretty easily my favourite, and certainly has the best character writing. Little slow in the beginning, though. Adventure is also good, but 02 and Frontier...eh. I guess they are...

Re: Ghost in the Shell Discussion Thread

OK, I finally did it. I watched Ghost in the Shell (the movie). I bounced back and forth between the original and 2.0, I liked the updated animation, but the CG segments were sort of a turnoff (drawback of old CG, I'm guessing?). So first of all, it was a lot tamer than I had ever imagined. I though...

Re: Sp. 002: Save or Troll

Oh man, the hate was flowing! The only company that ever 'wronged' me was Konami, because they made some dirtbag 'serious business' moves that destroyed my favorite game developers (who were under Konami at the time). So now I can't enjoy any new games from my favorite genre, but I get a nice helpin...

Re: Ep. 100 - Neon. Genesis. Evangelion.

Ahhh Morpheus, the only thing I downloaded from Morpheus was Vietnamese pop songs, ahahhaha. I may just watch Eva somewhere down the line, like when there's a super ultimate complete final mentally sound omnibus version. Or whenever I finish Ghost in the Shell, Deep Space 9, and Gundam Wing! Also fo...

How about I watch Ghost in the Shell, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Gundam Wing, and everything else I've missed first? It's not like I've been avoiding Evangelion, it's just like I missed out on that moment in time that everyone else saw it.

Re: Ep. 100 - Neon. Genesis. Evangelion.

BEST. EPISODE. EVER. I honestly knew nothing about Neon Genesis Evangelion other than the theme song and that there is a red girl and a blue girl in it (whom I affectionately refer to as Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue). I'd never even met any Eva fans until just recently, when a late-30-something dude...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread Mk IV

That was the most awesome thing I've ever seen, and yet I have no idea what I just watched. I think I missed a whole episode in between there, hahaha.

Was there some fake Kamille/Zeta theme going on when Asemu started fighting Zeheart.
