Re: Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Re: 0096

Crunchyroll will stream Re:0096! http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-03-30/crunchyroll-to-stream-mobile-suit-gundam-unicorn-re-0096-tv-anime/.100459 I'm actually interested to see how this series plays as a TV series with new scenes. Though, it puts me in an awkward spot, since I never did get...

Re: Galaxy Kikotai: Majestic Prince

It's intriguing. While it wasn't my favorite series by any means, I did come away with a certain fondness for it. But as I said in my review here, I'm not sure where it can go given how the latter episodes of Season 1 were handled. Too many villains were quickly offed. Maybe it is best that they're ...

Re: Right Stuf announces [Gundam Release Updates 2016]

Oh, I was focusing so much on the recent news that I forgot to note the press release prior to this one. Two more releases were announced, and one of them was rather surprising: For May 3rd, we have GUNDAM EVOLVE on DVD and MOBILE SUIT ZETA GUNDAM: A NEW TRANSLATION on DVD. Both will contain all of ...

Re: Right Stuf announces [Gundam Release Updates]

Rightstuf is accelerating the releases of Gundam, it seems. Zeta Gundam Part 2 will come out on April 5th (Blu-ray & DVD), and Gundam ZZ (Blu-ray & DVD) and Gundam X (DVD only) will both have their first halves released on 6/7/16! Also, if you participate in their March Madness-like bracket ...

I've seen this floating out there for a while now: Majestic Prince announcement event coming soon in April. This could be anything, but some are speculating it's a new season. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2 ... ent-teased

Re: The Official Gundam 00 Season 1 Thread Mk I

I think I can say this with confidence for 00S2: For whatever reason, they kept Ali around from Season 1, and did virtually nothing with him in Season 2. It's almost as if that if he did die during S1, we wouldn't have missed out on anything for S2. In my view, you are correct, sir. That's one of t...

Re: The Official Gundam 00 Season 1 Thread Mk I

Here's my view, for what it's worth: I'm not sure that any Gundam TV show since Gundam 00 Season 1 has been as good as Gundam 00 Season 1. That said, Season 1 was a little uneven because it had to cram everything into 25 episodes. Episode 1-15 were the most consistent, and the season had a great end...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of Hiroto and Walter's ghosts... I'm curious, LightningCount, how do you feel about Yumiko? She's alarmingly similar to your Shouko example, but you haven't mentioned her by name. How do you feel about Yumiko getting crushed, immediately getting revived, and then...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

I do think the theme of the continuum, of how people come from nonexistence to existence and back again is fascinating...but I felt it needed to be blended better with the scifi conflict of the series--a planet split between confused and competing factions of humans and aliens. I can definitely see...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

So...thoughts on whether or not Fafner has moved away from resolving its central plot threads in order to tell a thematic story about life's continuum? Ehmmm... Yes and no. The spiritual theme of "life's continuum" has always been present. Even back in the original series, Tsubaki, Kouyou...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

I watched 25 and 26 together, finishing up Exodus. I don't fully know what to say. From an objective point of view, it was an acceptable enough ending. But going on my feelings in a subjective manner, I think they kind of lost me a while back. I was indifferent and/or really frustrated about most of...

Re: Neo Special - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review

Neo, I thought you gave a really rounded review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens . You looked at both sides of things, which I appreciated. From what I've heard so far of the "first impressions" podcast on Chaos Theater after yours, it's generally leaning toward a "4.5 or 5 BB-8 droids...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Not sure how I feel about the ending. The story is very much unfinished, but that may be addressed tomorrow. The second half of Exodus has been rushed in general, and that goes double for the final episode, yet even when this show is rushed, that pacing doesn't feel as detrimental as it would in al...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

And so, the finale. Wait, isn't there an Episode 26? Pretty sure each season was listed for 13 episodes... That said, I only just finished Episode 24. On the whole, I liked it...but not as much as some of the other climatic moments this series has had. Some of the explanations of the other islands ...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Ep.23 completed... I thought this episode did a lot of things really well and covered a good amount of ground while doing so. I finally got that up-close-and-personal UN Fafner vs. D Island Fafner fight...It got the job done, but it was a little lackluster with all the wire tricks. The heavy use of ...

New Shoji Kawamori Interview - Revelations on Gundam, etc

I'm still reading this, but this is as comprehensive an interview with Shoji Kawamori as I've ever seen. It goes through his thoughts on everything from Macross to Robotech to Battletech to Gundam to Eureka Seven to Escaflowne, and then some. And through it all, there are what seem to be new revelat...

Re: Fans of Evangelion Manga

Nikkolas: I read Volume 2 of the manga back in the day when it first came out. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked Sadamoto's character subtleties. However, I've always been more of an anime viewer than manga reader in terms of consumption, so I've never tracked down the rest. (Plus, for years, it wa...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I have not kept up with this series. I only watched up through Episode 3. I intend to get back to it eventually. But I just wanted to call this out: If Bang Zoom is doing the dub, I can totally see Tony Oliver taking the role of Biscuit, and that would be nice. (I think JYB as Orga is a curious choi...
