Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I
This episode felt a lot better than Season 1. The characters are still paper-thin, but they're less of a focus in this episode, and used more to further the plot, which is a much better use of the too-brief running time they've got to work with. Considering how badly I disliked Season 1, I'm not par...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
No probably not. I just wanted to point out to sdwoodchuck that death as a senseless and abrupt thing is a common theme for most of the classic Gundam shows. In fact it was always my understanding as a fan that this exact thing was suppose to be the big takeaway from Gundam. Violence begets violenc...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
But it is worth making goofy passive-aggressive assumptions again, apparently. "Over speculating" doesn't enter the equation, and it's petty for you to assume it does. I'd have loved for them to take it in a completely unexpected direction, if they'd have managed that with some actual qual...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
There's a way to do McGillis as the anti-hero that doesn't involve poor writing. That's not the direction the writers went with it. They decided to have a sociopathic back-stabber one season become a shockingly ignorant righteous dope the next. If there's nothing to Bael but a symbol, then he's ent...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Hahahaha, wow, the writers really did get completely lost this season, and barring some last episode miracle, are limping, tripping, and stumbling across the finish line. That is a really sad outcome for a series that actually had better writing for most of its run than a lot of recent efforts.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Yeah, Iok is just a pampered brat who has been told "you're great" for so long that he believes it, and can't seem to cut it under real authority or in real combat. Katejina was vindictive, manipulative, and cruel. Not really comparable.

Re: CCA - Earth location significance?
Pretty sure it's just showing that it's something that's visible on a global scale. I don't think the locations are supposed to be secretly significant. Tomino isn't really that subtle.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Yes, the model kit itself gives a general overview, and I'm just not convinced that's the extent of it. I think there's probably more to the story there that still fits in that basic information framework. And I may be 100% wrong about that; I have no problem with that.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
That definitely shoots down the previous era theory, but I do suspect there's more to the mobile armors than we've been told so far. I'm not convinced that it's a simple matter of AI going rogue. For a while I was toying with the idea that the founders of Gjallarhorn created the MA's themselves in o...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
=It is very unlikely that Agnika made a deal with the MAs as they are devoid of any emotion and are programmed only to kill. Again, this is taking characters' assessment of the situation at their word. It may be the case, but there's no reason to assume everything a person in the show says is true,...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Yeah, it definitely could be a mobile armor that did it, but it would have to be a hell of a lot more powerful than what we saw of Hashmal. Hashmal is strong enough to burn down a city, but in order to actually cause craters in the moon that are visible from earth with the naked eye, we're talking w...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
I'm also curious what's up with the Earth's Moon. It's hard to tell for sure the extent of the damage, but the few shots of it they've shown have seemed very deeply pockmarked at the very least, and likely misshapen to some degree. As dangerous as the Mobile Armor we've seen was, it didn't show any ...

Yeah, that was the plan last time, before you decided to start bringing up old disagreements again when I was responding to somebody else about something else entirely. But sure, let's try that "agree to disagree" thing again.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Just because Rustal isn't a interesting character to you doesn't mean he can't be a main villain, how many Gundam shows have we had in the past or even anime shows in general where the main villains are not interesting and at times come off as cartoonishly evil or just bland? Far too often than not...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
It seems like you can't read, because my post has absolutely nothing to do with speculation or expectations going forward, and everything to do with what the writers have been doing, which I'm mostly praising. On top of that I've actively said (more than once in that post) that I think they're maki...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Are you sure you are not just disappointed because you expected a different journey for Kudelia? I'm going to be responding to your whole post, but I'm just quoting the part of it because A) I think what you have here is kind of the crux of both what you're getting at, and B) I'd rather avoid a quo...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
I definitely expect a change from Gaelio. He's being groomed right now as a kind of fallen knight by the writers. He recently made a comment to Julieta that she reminds him of Ein, but she won't accept the procedure that she finds unethical. I think with this as a frame to view his current situation...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Continuing the Kudelia discussion, people seem to be weirdly conflating "getting things done" or "accomplishing goals" with character development. The majority of her screen time in Season 1 is a bunch of "am I doing the right thing" self doubt, which is anime easy-mode...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III
Well, in any case, If Rustal being the actual big bad is considered a "failure" by the writers, then I would say it won't be the first; They've failed to develop Kudelia, Hush, Julietta among others as anyone of significance when they have shown great potential to be interesting character...
