Re: So, what are your are your thought about the early-UC and late-UC spin-off manga?
I think you are focusing too much on the superficial elements of Crossbone Gundam . I rather suspect Crossbone GUndam is where Gundam Formula 91 might have ended if the projected TV series had been cmpleted, and carried through on its grand theme of the rise and fall of the Crossbone Vanguard and Co...

Re: Haman's Obsession and Axis/Neo Zeon's Newtype Drought
With regards to Haman's obsession, it should be perpetually noted that Newtype ESP power is supposed to enable communication between individuals. Haman is a powerful Newtype, so her ability to sync with other Newtypes like Camille and the off-the-charts Judau shouldn't be a surprise as a story eleme...

Re: The Elitism of UC Gundam Fans?
Oh dear, was someone trying to resurrect old quarrels again, along with this thread? I hope not, elitist positioning or not. (I am a Zeonista after all, a member of the template agency for aggressor groups in mecha anime that aren't metallic bugs or fanboy-ish giants. Here, have a pamphlet, it has o...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I
Dead Chick Talking: WTH?!? She is dead! Io knows she is dead!! WTFH?!? (It's a great cliffhanger.) But did she die in the first season. The last time we saw her she got ejected from the Beehive into space and not directly killed. My guess, is that she was recovered by the Monks that we see early in...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I
The seventh OAV was definitely interesting! It is good to see Thunderbolt keeping up with the combination of gritty war story, UC-style adventure, and mecha porn. Reborn Again: Karula, poor thing. She got the last-minute save, but in UC last-minute saves are never easy....or cheap. Tin Man: Daryl, a...

Re: Gundam no Reconguista Movies Thread?
I want to care, and be interested, really I do. But Gundam Thunderbolt and Iron Blooded Orphans sank the interest level worse than a Tier 6 cruiser in a Tier 8 World of Warships scenario. No return potential here....

Re: ID-0
The science in this science fiction story is really working on the physical level. This being anime though, the nuts & bolts only serve as the framework for meditation on the human-or trans human-condition. Remember, the cute little girl is the most powerful character on screen! Amanza is ...

This show got delayed a bit since it was not commercialy subbed & streamed. But last week the fan-subbers stepped up, and started with this TV series. Good thing too, since it would be a shame to miss this story. No real shooting or combat is at the center of its tale. It is about a bookishly su...

Re: How can we have another long-running toy franchise?
I would say the main obstacle with a new toy franchise, is enough children and teens to purchase said toys to make it a hit. Japan's population demographics make this rather dubious from a commercial standpoint. We're talking stuff under the 20,000 yen mark here. Not just toys (which includes figure...

First off I would like to salute HISHE for their Rogue One episode. Several potential "good ends" there, all of them nice...but making me appreciate the movie's ruthless nature more. Also, "S'up noobs." Amion: Revan-sama is my ultimate sensei. :) I don't want to call the Je...

Re: The Last Jedi
he did kinda choke some of Jabba's guards because i guess that was okay or something that one time. on the other hand he also officially earned his Jedi stripes by refusing to kill his father, throwing down his saber, and telling the Emperor to go eat all of the dicks, so i'm not sure how gray a Je...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
I was expecting her to fit into some UC or AU box, but IBO was very much about "this is our own box" so to speak for many things. I was certain Julietta was cute Gundam roadkill like poor Lafter, but she survived & actually learned something about the motive and spirit of people who a...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
Cybastar: Now, I don't want to give Rustal Elion too much credit for building success from the downfall of McGillis & Tekkadan. I do give him credit for realizing Gjallarhorn as presented in the course of the show was at best obsolete and at worst prone to reflexive oppression in order to keep ...

The show automatically won me over with the appearance of the Legendary Kotobuki Nippers and continued with Gourai's assessment of time spent assembling figures/models. 15% = finding tools 15% = researching kit on Internet 15% = finding parts on runner 50% = fighting the carpet monster 5% = assembli...

Re: Pilot curriculum
I think a lot of the "Gundam hero" criticisms are confusing ability and training, which are different things. Training and enabling the average guy to become a mecha suit pilot is good. Training and enabling the guy with exceptional ability is better! That is the baseline difference betwee...

I stopped counting at the 35th Panty. and yes, i do count how many panty shots appear in a given episode. Evangelion TV has only 6 total. i'm gonna watch this till the end. YURI BEYBE!!! its Angelic Layer + Sky Girls. that's a good combination. i just hope this doesn't go the the super se...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV
I'm very glad to read your post, Zeonista, especially the bit on Julietta. So many hated her and desired her dead, but I was always a fan and was glad to see her survive. She even develops at the end of the story to some extent, and I was pleased with that, if nothing else. I was expecting her to f...
