Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies
-Beta Team- The fighting in front of them seemed to intensify, with the Nunavut taking several hits before finally waking up and opening fire with its main guns and letting off a quick missile barrage. There were more units closing in, but Wolf wasn’t concerned with another AEUG unit moving in. “Spr...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies
- Nunavut Team- “Crap, more of them...” Faisal grunted as several more AEUG suits, which his sensors pegged as likely Rick Dias-types, came in, with a pair of beams coming from their area, while that pesky Nemo continued to fire away at both him and Babineaux as they fell back toward their ship. One...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies
-Team 2- Bernard said something that was lost in the Minovsky-caused static as they approached the New Yark team, still in the midst of fighting. And Eddie judged that they weren’t doing too bad, given the series of explosions ahead of them, including hits on the nearest Titan Salamis Kai . Bernard ...

Re: AEUG Mass Production Units of 0088?
Karaba wasn't all that large, though. AFAIK, all they really had was the Audhumla and a few other odds and ends (Namely some Z Plus and other rare units scattered across Earth), so them sending stuff into space wasn't nearly going to make up for the AEUG being almost entirely wiped out and the EFSF ...

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread
For the ratings, Gunota posted some information on them (Nearly a decade ago! I feel old...). Basically, its ratings were somewhat lower than the Gundam shows that aired before it, even before it was moved to Saturday mornings, where they tanked. Why that move happened, though, remains offic...

Re: Gundam For the New Generation
This is the sort of thing that usually gets brought up in one way or another in those threads on why Gundam didn't work out here... But we haven't had one of those in a while, so what the hell, here we go... 1. What show should they release? You have to go with something kinda new, since t...

Re: What books are you reading?
Catching up once again... The Best Game Ever was good. Gave a lot of background to many of the figures in the game and was an excellent account of the game. After that, I read another Bowden book, Killing Pablo , which I also enjoyed. From there I went through Up Front by Bill Maudlin. I mainly pick...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies
- Kalinin Team- Bate watched as the beams from the Kalinin lanced out into the middle of what was turning into another dogfight, but they were too distant for Bate to tell what was going on, aside from a rather obvious explosion that was clearly a mobile suit being destroyed… But that didn’t appear ...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies
- New Yark Team- The New Yark team reformed to press forward, with Hard AE continuing to lead feet-first while Bort and Thibaut hanging back somewhat to allow them to better use their 240mm cannons on the Hizacks that were moving in a roughly similar triangle formation, trying to protect on of the T...

So that answers Pegasus Class... would later battleship like Ra Cailum have more then? Probably, since the Ra Cailum is larger and carries more MS... ...Of course, the 211 figure for Albion might be slightly misleading. After all, at the time, they didn't have any pilots assigned to the ship. Plus,...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies
- Bindra Team- Lieutenant Ball watched as two groups of AEUG MS continued to maneuver ahead of their units, one directly in front of the Bindra team, another off to their right more in the area of the Peoron team. The Bindra would be getting close to firing range, not that Ball had the confidence in...

Re: Episode 30 - Riders in the Skies
-Beta Team- The pair of Barzams and a Marasai moved forward cautiously in tight formation, the pilots paying extra attention to their sensors for the brief moments when Minovsky jamming didn’t render them useless. It wasn’t just the formidable AEUG group they were attacking, or the Axis gnats that s...

Re: What books are you reading?
Finished and really enjoyed Forever Peace , although the ending felt kinda rushed and/or abrupt for my tastes. After that, I went through Nicholas Pileggi's Casino . I've seen the movie countless times, so I figured it was time to read the book it was based on, which turned out to be very good (And ...

Re: What books are you reading?
Another six weeks of catch up... X-Wing: Mercy Kill was really good, fitting right in with the rest of that series. There wasn't a lot from the later works that I haven't read that really came up in a way that made me feel like I was missing out on a lot, which helped, although if they ever do more ...

Re: Making Sense of the Battle of Loum
Here's the problem I have with that explanation. I was under the impression that the battle of Loum had decimated both sides so badly that the war became a stalemate for the next eight months (at least on the space front). Yeah, that seems to be a(nother) flaw with some of these depictions of the b...

Re: Making Sense of the Battle of Loum
However, in Gundam The Ace Pilot for the Gamecube, many Zeon Aces (Ramba Ral, and the black tri stars specifically) start at the battle of Loum in their custom Zaku Is. Ramba Ral did use his Zaku I during the start of the OYW, but the Tri-Stars had already switched to their Zaku II's. MSV 2 has the...

Making Sense of the Battle of Loum
Mark's Mystery Ships thread got me thinking about Loum, which we haven't really dived into in a while. As with almost anything UC, there are many different, often contradictory claims from the print sources about this important battle. Some of the information from the older sources can be discounted...

Jesta Cannons Hand Grenades being launched, retcon? http://imageshack.us/a/img826/3693/vlcsnap2013030214h18m40.png It's not a retcon. IIRC, the only time in any of the older animated works we see those type of grenades being used, they are being launched in the exact same manner by a Heavygun in F9...

Re: Zeon an allegory for japan?
Eitherway i think the support of zeon amongst the japanese despite the evil that is done by said organization is evidence to some extent of a nation still clinging to a nostalic period which really is not worth adoration. IMO, I think a big part of it is based purely on Zeon having a few likeable c...

Re: Size of ships and LARGE objects
Which suggests a Grand Unified Salamis Theory: Every version of this ship is built on the same basic hull, the original and Zeta Gundam versions really are 228 meters long, and the 0083 version is actually the biggest one thanks to its extended prow and engine section. In fact, it's really 50% bigg...
