Re: Why do the bad guys usually have more different models than the good guys?

Say, we have talk about how the story structure makes it seems like the bad guys always have more mechas than the good guys. But what about spin-offs, especially OVAs? Their stories are smaller in conflict and rarely have that kind of threat escalation (like in Shonen manga, there is always a bigger...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I

Why not? RL cult leader like Shoko Asahara and Jim Jones can do it without actual psychic power at all. Surely some guy with telepathy and other mind trick can does better. But that kid, he claimed at the end of the episode that he could hear the voice of the cult leader in his head (and the manga ...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I

Anyone here think that a single Newtype who could convert thousands of people to his religion is a bit of a stretch? I mean, sure, Newtypes can do some crazy thing, such as pushing away an asteroid, but to do so in a protracted period is absurd to me.

Re: Why do the bad guys usually have more different models than the good guys?

I also want to talk about this issue: Why is the upgrades that most mechas receives always bring about cosmetic changes (FAST and SUPER packs from Macross, for example)? And there should had been way more upgrades and different versions to mass-production mechs (if you go into the nut and bolt, you ...

Sidestepping the topic, how is post-WWII politic was ran in Japan anyway?

I do not know if this is related or not, but this scene in The Plan to Assasinate Ghiren shows how stratified Zeon society is.

Re: Which series has "cornerstone" mecha designs?

Anyone here have any idea which show should I look up to for transformable cyborg-like (A.K.A Evangelion style) mechas? I am thinking of Zoids and Transformer, and that the transformable mechas would have a more monster, less animal look to them, but what else?

Re: Why do the bad guys usually have more different models than the good guys?

@Seto Kaiba: That reminds me, is not the reverse thing happened to Macross Frontier (correct me if I am wrong, I have not finished it): There are only a few type of Vajra, but there are tons of VF (of course, the bad guys use VF too.)

Why do the bad guys usually have more different models than the good guys?

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to be that in Gundam the bad guys usually field a wider variety of MS than the good guys? Why is this? Is this the same situation as with aces (If your side have more aces, it means you are being outnumbered) in that as the war goes on, the bad guys is losing a...

Re: Hand contact and communication

If they really use vibration, then:

- How only a specific part of the ship receive the sound message instead of the entire ship?

- The sound quality appeared to be very good in the shows. If the vibration passes through solid material, shouldn not there been interference and such?

Hand contact and communication

Zeta Gundam is the earliest work depicting that sometimes for a MS to contact with another MS or a spaceship, the pilot must put the make contact between the MS's hand and the surface of the other MS/ship. In this case, does the hand contact means that communication signal are directly transferred t...

Re: Different models of shield during and after OYW.

A recent scan from Anaheim Log (https://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/gu ... 0627041502) shows that the GM Type C can use the Nemo's shield. So it seems that logistic factors more than the overall design when it comes to shield.

Re: The Official Gundam Twilight AXIS Anime Thread Mk I

Would Twilight AXIS be better as a feature film? I mean, the original source novel is neither long nor complicated enough for the story to be sliced into multiple episodes like this.

(Also, Sunrise and Bandai should look for more talented writers to write their spin-offs.)

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Mecha Thread Mk I

By the way, did you meant MA-04X instead of MAM-04 (whose model number would indicate it to be a marine MA like the MAM-07 Grublo)? Yeah, you're right, I typed it wrong. An MA-04X that is (Zeon gives consequence number to all mobile armor, regardless whether it is a space-use, a marine-use, or a Ne...

Do you think that maybe, just maybe we will find the corpses of Char and Amuro? Or finally be able to know who retrieved the data from the Sazabi so as to create Full Frontal? I'm actually more interesting in how will they deal with the who Bunch Concern and Crossbone Vanguard thing. I've always has...

Re: Which series has "cornerstone" mecha designs?

So,I've pretty much done with the Gundam-esque faction and now moving to other factions. On the table is the plan for one which consists of insect-like creatures controlled by hive minds. I've got Warhamemr 40k, Aliens, and Starship Trooper for my inspiration, but is there any anime which shows mech...

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?

Can we talk about the real-life reason of Transformable MS? I know that by the time of Zeta, Macross had made a name for it. But what really pushed Tomino and his team to come up with the concept of Transformable MS?

Different models of shield during and after OYW.

So, I notice that the Gundam and the standard GM are mainly depicted with that one-piece looking, flat red shields. But then there the GM variants (like the GM Command), all of which belonged to the later part of the war, using a convex shield with two prongs at the bottom (possibly taking inspirati...

So, the Tristan (and by extension, Nu Gundam) has a built-in generator within its own rifle.

Also, when did Buch Junk (maker of Crossbone Vanguard's MS) become "Buch Junk Inc.,"?
