Re: The difficulties in maintaining the ZZ Gundam

Oh, absolutely... one of my first job interviews was with a company that makes automated ammo sorting machines for the US military. If a system barely the size of a minivan can inspect, sort, and package multiple types of ammunition simultaneously with early 2000s technology, it shouldn't be too ha...

Re: BMW's colour changing electronic E ink - One step towards Phase Shift Armor realization?

It would make sense given what it does, but I think it's more likely to be too expensive to be used in mass production cars that quickly, to say nothing of it's power requirements. I doubt they are putting military grade batteries in commercial cars and you see how quickly it drains the batteries of...

Re: RX-93 v Gundam design

Off the top of my head, you may be thinking of 2 different suits. The one from CCA, the black and white one is the Nu Gundam, (https://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/cca/rx-93.htm), while the blue and white one is the Hi-Nu, a different version from a mange/novel/retelling thingy, (https://www.mahq.net/m...

Re: How well can the Gyan operate on the ground?

I always read it as the Gyan had the generator to use the rifle or the saber, but not both. But since then we've seen the introduction of a couple of beam weapons that had their own generators. The ones that come to mind are the beam bazooka and the prototype beam rifle that used to be packed in wit...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Mecha Thread Mk I

At this point, I don't think the Gundam is the special part of Project V. Notice what the Gundam has that the Guncannons (as shown) nor the Zakus have. The beam weaponry. The Gundam itself is just a mobile suit with really thick skin, but it also took the Musai cannon and shrunk it down to an MS por...

Re: Random Gundam Tech Tidbits

Is the important bits of the gun even in the head or is it just the exit point? If it's just the exit point, then the important bits could be in the torso, with the head acting similar to a turret.

Off topic but at that point why did they not say, "Sorry pilot, your gundam's now spare parts. Have a GM instead."? Besides the whole mid series upgrade thing

Re: Zaku Cannon in space?

I hadn't thought of the verniers, granted it's a relatively easy conversion at least with some thinking. The cannon being projectile has always bothered me, if we assume the majority of the backpack is for ammunition storage, there seems to be no feed between the gun and the backpack. Which begs the...

Re: Zaku Cannon in space?

Ok so it's not inconceivable for them to operate in space, assuming any of the 9 built made it there. For all the times we see them, in books, shows, games and the like, I am finding it harder to believe that their production run was so small. Anyway, thank you.

Zaku Cannon in space?

Is there any evidence that the Zaku Cannon is able to work in space or is it a ground only design?

I'm looking at getting a model of it, and wondering if I should paint it for space or ground deployment.

Thank you

This is why I love this forum. It's the only place you can come to read about giant robots and walk away with a little bit better understanding of nuclear physics.

Re: Should The Gouf Still Be Classified As A Melee Type MS?

Thank you for the images and the info. I would guess that with the rollout dates that again both companies either had information from Zeon intelligence, or figured it was inevitable that the Federation would develop their own suits, but figured for close range weaponry that they would have somethin...

Re: Should The Gouf Still Be Classified As A Melee Type MS?

I could not find pictures of the weapons you mentioned, (though I think I have seen the YMS-09J lance somewhere, just can't remember where), it sounds like the advantage over the heat saber would be reach. Were those suits designed after the Gouf? Given the Ral's Gouf appeared maybe a couple of week...

Re: Should The Gouf Still Be Classified As A Melee Type MS?

The way I always thought of it was that the Gouf (07B or B-3) is always optimized for working in close, but the Zeon saw that the 07B was too specialized to be practical and made the B-3 as more of a multirole unit.

Do you happen to have the original site? I'm interested to see if they show some of the images the writer talks about.
