Re: Mailbag Drop Box Mk II
Hi, guys, I just finished catching up on the podcast, listening from 2007 up till the latest one (skipped the specials for the most part, though) and it only took me 2 years! After catching up, I just HAD to ask... Do you think Protoculture is the best culture? And, more seriously, do you guys see y...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
You're right as far as Gundam goes, but string theory is not unprovable or untestable. Its hard to test, but there have been experiments made. The LHC might help point us in the right direction, for example. Its not some new-age mysticism stuff. Its science.

Re: What books are you reading?
I've been reading A Gentle Madness, a book about book-collecting. Its pretty interesting. I wonder how many of the old book collectors would be collecting gunpla and figures if they lived today...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
Interesting. Its nice to see that the societies depicted in Turn A reach a reasonable level of tech progress, even if it takes 500 years. I myself would like to see the era of the Federation falling apart explored more (outside of G-Saviour), but that's neither here nor there. I still think the time...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
Yeah, I agree. It doesn't make sense but that doesn't mean we have the power to impose sense on it. Its Tomino's and the other writer's gig.

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
There is no "big bang". Big Bang Project is simply name for celebration of Gundam's 20th anniversary and Turn A is part of it. I was talking about our world. It was one possible explanation put forward by some scientists a few years ago, but it illustrated what they meant by universes col...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
Based on stuff I read in the past, the big bang might have been caused by another universe colliding with this one, but colliding doesn't mean the same thing that we usually use the word for. Its not like two cars colliding, more like they interacted in a higher dimension and there might have been s...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
The thing is, Gundam is more grounded in real life physics than some soft sci-fi series. Yeah, Gundam has Newtypes and Minovsky particles, but aside from that, they try to be grounded in realism for the setting. Its a lot harder to accept Gundam pulling a "the multiverse is merging" than s...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
@monster, yeah that was what I meant in that CC's history might just be similar but not exactly UC's and AC, etc.

That makes even less sense. I guess I can't really wrap my head around it that easily.

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
If Tomino had thought it through, he would have made the timelines fit together better. For example, the original backstory for UC is that the calendar started when we started moving into space, sometime in the 21st century. Okay, so UC takes place in the 21st/22nd century. Seed's CE takes takes pla...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?
That was an interesting short. While I don't completely buy the Turn A being the future of ALL Gundams (the timelines would not make sense for many reasons), I can understand it being the future of UC at least. With that in mind, UC era MSes in Turn A were preserved by special nanotech tarps or coat...

Re: Ep. 160 - Road to the Venus Globe
Well, as a last attempt, after opening a thread about the topic and sending out two emails to the Gundamn staff, all without a single reply, I will just ask here. Is it just me or are the 2008 episodes unavailable?

Re: The Otaku at Work
I'm pretty sure all my coworkers know I'm into anime and sci-fi. I'm 100% sure at least some know, since I told them myself. It helps that I work with a college buddy. I'm in IT so you can imagine that there is a prerequisite level of nerdiness already (my boss's wallpaper is the Enterprise, for exa...

Gundamn Previous Episodes
I hope this is a good place for this thread. I tried creating a topic in the podcast's section but I guess I don't have rights to do so (would explain how orderly the subforum looks like if regular members weren't able to create topics.) Still, I don't know where else to ask. Basically, I recently d...

Re: What books are you reading?
I haven't been able to get back to my reading backlog in a little bit (or any other backlogs until just recently, actually) but I am technically in the process of reading the Toaru Majutsu no Index novels and the Gundam Sentinel novel. I also need to continue reading the Discworld books.
