Re: Movable frame construction material?

I suggest checking this old thread which discussed the evolution of the EF's and Zeon MS construction philosophies: http://www.mechatalk.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=16720 In short, based on a retcon from Sunrise' Mobile Suit Museum it seems that now movable frame is essentially an evolution of Zeon MS...

Re: Propellant: What is in an MS's Tank?

They probably can't. ... that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Everything I can find on the subject of how Mobile Suits convert the energy of the thermonuclear fusion going on inside their Minovsky CTRs, from the original Entertainment Bibles right on up to recent Master Archive Mobile Suit bo...

Re: Propellant: What is in an MS's Tank?

Ah, that makes a fair amount of sense... they're monopropellant rockets using heat diverted from the fusion reactor to flash-expand the propellant to provide thrust instead of relying on combustion. (Still, why are they letting all that heat go to waste? Why doesn't the reactor use thermoelectric c...

Re: Propellant: What is in an MS's Tank?

I do wonder if the Principality of Zeon might have had a fleet of its own for collecting helium-3, or at least provided escort for the JEF as hinted on a MS Era picture. For what may be worth, Challia Bull, pilot of the Braw Bro, is said to have just returned from Jupiter before being assigned to t...

Re: Propellant: What is in an MS's Tank?

Anyone know if its been say in official documentation whats being used? Or, what the most logical explanation would be. The information I've been able to find in Master Archive points to them being liquid fuel rockets, probably hydrogen and oxygen. Gundam Officials points out during the OYW, most M...

Re: Movable frame construction material?

Various materials. There is one specific model we know the composition of, MSZ-006 Zeta series. It is made of Gundarium gamma. Older material(Gundarium alpha and beta and Ti-ceramic composite) has fatigue problem and thus before using Gundamrium gamma, AE cannot complete the project.(That and the re...

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

The Ground GM shown in 8th MS team was also one of the earliest GM models, because it also used parts from the Ground Gundam, but after the regular GM model came out, it was phased out, and also replaced by later ground combat GM types. From what I've read for Z-MSV, there were quite a number of ma...

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

Um... RGM-79C was deployed in the last month of the OYW. Igloo during ABQ battle showed this. Not to mention that the 1st ep of 8th MS team showed the test/prototype version of the type C. Anyways, there is also the rare case that the prototype becomes a limited mass-production model in Gundam, lik...

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

Apart from what Seto Kaiba said up there, other reasons that usually creep up includes: 1) The prototype/test-type is tunned up for testing the maximum stress that design can take. Fatigue problems prevent mass-production models to use the maximum power the model can take, not that they cannot do so...

Re: Why do people overlook the commanding officer?

I guess if this is really a thing, most of the time it will be on enemy commanders. Gundam usually don't overlook commanding officers, but have them villainous break down in order to have the protagonists win the war. Gihren was supposed to have an IQ of 240, yet his actions at the end of MSG make h...

15. Don't start list threads where people will just make a list of things they like or don't like. We want to have actual discussions in our topics, not just useless lists of things with no explanation.

Re: Skycrapers in Space Colonies

That last point is highly unlikely but possible post-OYW due to how complacent the post-OYW EF government has been established as being, at least in the period from 0079/80 to the mid-0080s with the establishment of the Titans in 0083. So in that 3-4 year period, maybe. That said, given the probabl...

Re: Skycrapers in Space Colonies

Side 7 is also under construction as of late 0079 IIRC, so even if you assume an average population of 25m/colony, I very much doubt that it would have been housing that many people. That is not the only problem you got. It seems like some sources suggest a population for Zeon a mere 150~180 millio...

Re: Skycrapers in Space Colonies

Yeah. I suppose the actual size of the colony itself, and how much of it is taken up by solid living space versus open areas, would make a difference. I personally believe a closed-type cylinder(I believe Green Noa/Gryps were closed cylinders, but I'm not 100% sure) would be much more likely to sup...

Re: Skycrapers in Space Colonies

It'd be pretty hard to have no skyscrapers if they really want to have a 25 million population in each of the colonies. https://truth.bahamut.com.tw/s01/201303/2b9725716b60fe8a86e6cc9d322361d8.JPG The red area is the rough area of an O'Neill Cylinder, and the map is Hong Kong, and there are a lot of...

Made in Abyss

Seems like no body talked about this here. I read the manga and just finished watching the anime. The anime gets to chapter 26 of the manga(sans last scene of it), the manga is at chapter 42 now. It did a pretty good adaptation job, some filler is added, but not much.(Though some see it as causing o...

Re: Skycrapers in Space Colonies

To the best of my recollection (admittedly, it has been a number of years since I watched anything UC Gundam, where O'Neill I-3 cylinders are most prevalent), the buildings inside of colonies are rarely very tall. I certainly do not remember ever having seen any skyscrapers, for instance, inside of...

Re: Skycrapers in Space Colonies

From a simple calculation, at 250m, you get about 0.07g less gravity than "ground" level in an O'Neill Cylinder Island 3 type colony (i.e. UC ones) Whether that is acceptable is up to your speculation. This is the formula: a = 4π^2R/ T^2 where "a" stands for acceleration (in ms^-2, you divide 9.8 to...

Re: Dijeh ground only MS?

Dijeh is supposed to be the ground version of Rick Dias. According to Gundam Encyclopeadia Ver. 1.5, it is actually modified from the Rick Dias left on Earth by AEUG, they kept the frame and avionics while ditching the Space equipments. So it shouldn't be able to work in space unless they reequipped...

Re: Knight's & Magic

Interesting. So there is more material in the Light Novels then? So we can have a second season for the anime in the future? That said, one of my most major complaints with this series is that Ernesti has too much Mecha Otakuness that it makes him seem like what you mentioned. He is to much into Me...
