Re: Can Space Colonisation discourage war?

At least in UC, the EFSF is so discouraged by the logistics and didn't really bother to start a real war with Axis, but just sent in a scout fleet in that many years even though they knew Zeon had a base over there. They also didn't do much to the Mars faction. However, the EF is very passive in al...

Re: Can Space Colonisation discourage war?

The problem here was that unlike real life where the racist and the victims of racism have opportunites to confront each other, if you think about it, a lot of colonists in the 0070s might had never seen Earth or met an Earthling, and the vice versa was also truth. The impact of prejudice therefore...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

here's a thought that came to mind: would Ace Combat's COFFIN system work with the VFs? i like to think that this could work if they limit it just to Fighter mode. But then a quick reading into the tech, its seems like you need to go the Brera route for the COFFIN to be useful. Unfortunately, I'm n...

Re: Can Space Colonisation discourage war?

In my opinion, Space Colonisation can actually discourage war, or at least interplanetary wars. The reason is that unless you have jump ship and is confident on a quick victory, the cost of transportation, intelligence, and pacification would be too high to justify the profit. And, if you think abo...

Furthermore F*** visual go thermal it is literally impossible to hide heat in space.
But it's childishly easy to mask it... just come toward the enemy with the sun at your back and you're effectively freaking invisible to an infrared scope.

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Oyi you know the irony being that battletechs best designs were there original ones not the poorly cribed ones from macross and other. Think that's kind of a subjective matter, really... but then I freely admit I never much cared for the original designs in BattleTech . The big clunky chickenwalker...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Say, how important is it for Valkyrie to have hands? I mean, except the rifles and the knives, there does not seem to be many choice when it comes to hand-held VF weapons. So why will they not go a step further an intergrated the guns directly to the forearms? Initially, at least, Variable Fighters...

Re: In U.C, how close can a space ship goes before it is detected?

Sure, Minovsky particles makes long range detection unreliable at best, but what about visual detection? I did read that if the USS Enterprise were to fly over Mars, the Hubbles could even discern the marking on the hull. I know that it is not a good comparision, but still, space combat in U.C look...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Protoculture tried so hard on provolving species on many planets, perhaps still doing this in the Cluster after the Empire and/or Republic were collapsed. What drives them to do this? According to the official chronology, the ancient Protoculture genetically modified lifeforms on many worlds as a w...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Yeah, such a heavy gun and large gun would be useless in a dogfight, being so unwieldy and hard to aim in fast combat. Might make a good bludgeon if you could turn fast enough. Question in regards to the YF-22 thought controller did that go anywhere or as it being from plus other then the design it...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Oh yeah, I know the VF-25s were heavier caliber and a lot stronger overall as gunpods, I guess I should've added before 5th Gen that there weren't any heavy machine gun style caliber gunpods as optional weapons, closest thing to that I can think of is the beam adapter to the VF-17 Nightmare althoug...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

IIRC, the bayonet showed up in Macross Plus only, I don't think any VF-11 used it in Macross 7, I could be wrong. The stock VF-11C in the Macross 7 series used an economized version of the gunpod that removed the bayonet as a cost saving move. It still had the great bloody spike on the shield for w...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Is there a reason why the VF-11 seem like a downgrade weapon-wise compared to some of the previous VFs, particularly the VF-4 and VF-5000? That's a very common perception among fans, and probably has an awful lot to do with the way the VF-11 was the designated cannon fodder mecha for Macross 7 and ...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

What about macross plus that was basically yoko kanno getting to make an experimental music album. Sure there was some j-pop but damn that music got weird. Also Voices may be one of my favorite pieces of music ever love that song. Eh... Macross Plus is just shy of being a Macross series in na...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

I'm guessing that the VF-25s used by the NUNS Special Forces Havamel in Macross 30 were the true performance ones as they were made by the Federal arm of the NUNS forces rather than the watered down ones that were imported by Immigration Fleets/Local planet forces/PMCs. Well, the VF-25 was develope...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

While VF-19A is not described as Earth Mainland Version in Macross The Ride directly, the main fighter of Angel Birds, VF-19A2 is called as "Earth Mainland Version without the wing root laser guns". The VF-19A2's description says the differences between it and the A-type are unknown. Even though VF...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

It is a shame, really - a show named Delta should have had its titular Valkyrie a delta-winged one. Yeah, you'd think so... it feels like a missed opportunity that Delta Flight doesn't fly a delta-winged plane but its enemies do. And also, why did they not just design an entirely new Valkyrie if th...

Re: Effect of beam weapon on electrical system

How is the innards of a MS is cooled anyway (especially the fusion reactor)? There are heat sinks (as seen in the F91), but what about liquid or gas cooling systems? There are great big heat exchangers on the front of every Feddie mobile suit, and IIRC they're fed by a liquid cooling system. Regard...

Re: Effect of beam weapon on electrical system

A beam saber can generate several thousands degree Celsius. That much heat can melt down any circuitry and wiring system in split seconds. But we have seen MS which has been stabbed several times and still able to wobbly around. How did they make the MS damage-resistant like that? The beam saber is...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

It sounds like "limited tech transfer for YF-24" rather than sending blueprint of (much) downgraded version. They're pretty clear on it being transmission of the design schematics and specifications for the final YF-24 Evolution prototype itself, rather than a selection of new technological develop...
