Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

What I don't understand is the politics of this whole thing. Sure Gjallahorn was trying to prevent old what's his face from returning to take power again, but if the other delegates were aware of that, what did they fear from putting someone else in power. I mean the whole build up of getting the w...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

The Graze Ein's pile bunkers appear to be a one time use weapon. The right forearm pile bunker used on Ryusei-Go is missing when the Graze Ein appears before Kudelia. Possibly they're powered by an explosive or other one-use charge and are intended to be one-shot weapons, or possibly they're ejecta...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Ok. I'll admit now that McGillis' actions make no sense anymore, for above observations, unless he does indeed have a scapegoat. Speculation, in response to this and also to zetatype 's post above: I think at this point, McGillis' stated desire to "reform Gjallarhorn" is just a line he's ...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

To pick up the discussion of Yuuma from a couple pages back... I don't think it helps that in terms of screen time, spotlight, focus, whatever you want to call it, he seems to have received the least attention of the main three. I feel as though the writers are waiting for a chance to expand and dev...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

I must question the logic of a straight build's thrusters being able to apparently outclass both the Lightning and Winning Gundam's. I'm only speculating here, but I think in both cases we're seeing a machine's basic type trumping build quality. The Winning Gundam is a fine machine, but it's a rela...

Re: The Official Identify this Show Thread

the main character is a pink haired girl. she uses a hammer as a weapon. from what i saw in my Megami magazines, its based on a game.(PC i think) the OVA has 2 episodes if i recall correctly. MC's outfit has a similar color scheme to Nanoha's.(agaian, IIRC.) Could it be Tristia of the Deep Blue Sea ?

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

When I saw that particular rule, I immediately assumed that the Moebius and similar-sized mobile armors would be treated like any other mobile suit and be controlled by one person. I don't think they would've qualified it if the rule applies to all mobile armors. That's what I expected to be the ca...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

The explanation of the rules at the start of this most recent episode has got me wondering what sort of edge cases have come up, and what/where the cutoffs are for certain categories. For example, other than mobile suits, the categories "non-mobile suit support machines" (example shown: FF...

Re: Magical Girls

Well, it doesn't seem like there's much of a consensus beyond "give the original another shot," which I may or may not do; regardless, thanks all for chiming in - and for the link, Henyo. I don't much mind spoilers so I'll review that over time. :)

Re: Magical Girls

Since we have a general thread for this, does anyone have an opinion on which Pretty Cure series is the best to start with? As in, both good and accessible. I saw a few episodes of the original series way back in the day and somewhat enjoyed it, but quickly found myself wishing for a larger team tha...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

A lesser show might have used Kaoruko's Hollywood Pudgy build and heavy-lidded eyes as an opportunity to play her as an Abhorrent Admirer to Sekai. Fortunately, Try is not that lesser show. :) Her comment about how neither Sekai for Yuuma can compare to her brother leaves me wondering what Susumu is...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

Who was it that suggested, earlier in the thread, that Mantis Man might have "rapey tendencies?" Because the sequence with Miyaga's Agrissa subduing Fumina's GM Cardigan, the shot framing, her screams and his tone as he describes in detail what he intends to do to her as she's powerless in...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

It's an interesting theory, though he does express some pretty clear disdain for Gunpla Battle in general earlier in the episode... "Gunpla Battle makes no sense in the first place. You fight with the model you built with so much effort, and it's ruined if you lose. The whole idea is a contradi...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

One point that the first series of Build Fighters tried to make, was that there's no single right way to enjoy Gundam, that there are a multitude of different reasons to love Gundam and Gunpla battles, and just as many valid ways to show that love. If there's a "wrong" way to enjoy Gundam,...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

Going to offer my best guesses on some of the ones you couldn't identify... Cameos (In order of appearance, mostly): Altron, Contio, Alex, Mercurius. I can't recognize far right one very well. Bawoo in standard colours? Dahgi Iris, Gattle, Gouf Flight Type. Far left and right are a bit too deformed ...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

I assumed the Laohu was just that much closer to the camera than the rest of the assault fleet. Anyone with a better eye for spaceship classes want to play Name That Warship? I think the one in the bottom-left of the formation (as we see it) is an Archangel class, maybe in Dominion colours? I can't ...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

Well, there's a lot to love about this first episode! :) I really like the way we opened on a huge battle with dozens of different mobile suits on display in a blink-and-you'll-miss-'em manner (and I LOVE the track that plays over this whole scene). The only similarly large-scale fights in the origi...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk I

I'm going to guess it's something like a cosplay outfit or team uniform rather than their actual, official school uniform - the boots and scandalous girdle cut of the dress contribute to that impression.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I

So the implication of the design is less "mother and child," more "big sister looking after little brother?" That's doubleplus adorable.
